Due to prior guest use causing burn holes in rugs and concerns over fire safety, we can no longer allow use of the fireplace within the house. Regarding the house "smelling moldy": - Our visitors' stay was during a hot spell, and so I suggested they stay in the ground floor rooms. As explained in the house's description, the house is built on a hill, so the rear of the house is partially underground, with the front bedrooms above ground, with windows looking out down the hill. In being partially underground, the ground floor, if anything, may at times have a cool, earthy smell, which may be novel for some, but is not unhealthy. I actually prefer sleeping there in the summer because it's always the coolest place in the house. However, others have mentioned this is years past, which is why it is addressed in the property's description, it is why we've tested to ensure that there is no mold present, and it is why we have humidifiers and air quality filters and detector on the ground floor to ensure that the space is cool, comfortable and safe for all. Regarding the pond - upon visiting the pond after this guest's stay, yes, it is confirmed that there is a current infestation of leeches, and we are addressing this by stocking our pond with fish that love to eat them, and so hope to be free of them soon. We do detail in depth local swimming options, including our favorite, the Shadow Lake public beach, which is about 5 miles away.

With a large group, I'm sure it will be nice to have another option for a subgroup of people to use for watching or playing away from the living room. I agree with you on the shades for the living room, I've thought about adding them too, and we actually have a screen to put up on the deck, so it will go back up in the spring/bug season!
