About this property
Luxury Lakeside Mansion with Basketball Court and Indoor Pool
This house offers a unique layout and style; a flashback to the movies and the era of Al Capone can still be felt in this updated 80's 80s-style home.
When not out on the two-story dock, enjoying the sunset, or boating on the lake, you can spend time swimming in the private indoor pool, hanging out around the fire pit on the back patio, playing basketball on the full-size court, or relaxing in the upstairs hot tub. We have enjoyed watching the deer graze nearby from the two balconies on many occasions.
The house is right down the road from Port Royale Marina, a high-end boatyard offering all kinds of watercraft for rent and even a delicious bite to eat at the local favorite, Pelican Pete's restaurant. You can also dock your boat at our private dock.
There are plenty of areas for the whole family to gather and for the children to hang out. The house offers 6 bedrooms, 5 full baths, and 2 half baths. The 3 seating areas and 2 dining areas provide plenty of room for family meals and group activities. The 2 bunk rooms are very large, allowing children to spread out and enjoy the space.
The home offers a full kitchen on each floor, making it easy to grab a snack for a day out on the lake or prepare full meals without much effort. Each kitchen is equipped with full amenities and is great for groups and family gatherings with the kids.
-The indoor pool can be heated. Please inquire in advance to add this to your reservation. The fee is $50 per day. -Please note that all guests must be on your reservation. We do not allow parties or events at the house. -We allow a maximum of 6 cars per reservation.

More space than any of us could use, could fit way more than the quantity of people listed, owner was super easy to work with, very communicative and made it easy to choose to turn on pool heat last minute. Would definitely rent again!
Beautiful mansion! We loved our stayed and everything about this place. I will say pictures are a little outdated as the actual place has more wear and tear but still beautiful and highly recommend! You will not be disappointed.
Property was perfect for all my family. We enjoyed our stay with parents, grandparents, and a great grandparent. We’ll look to stay again!

Tired property in need of refurbishment and a deep clean, especially carpeting. There were only 9 forks in the whole house! Ample space for the 11 of us! Hot tub was great once the handyman got it going! Perfect location, beautiful views!
We had the best time during our stay in this beautiful, spacious LakeHouse! Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, very clean and OH MY GOSH Kirti is absolutely amazing to work with! She is super sweet and always wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. Wonderful stay!!! Can’t wait to go back!! The cove is wonderful. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!!

Pictures don’t do it Justice. So much room for our family of ten with short downhill walk to a very nice dock. Kids loved the basketball Court & inside pool.
If we had one suggestion it would be more towels for each bathroom.

Everyone had a lovely time on the property with the weather has been accommodating for enjoying the outside the property is very large plenty a stays for all 10 of us could use some updating and the cleaning was subpar.
We had a great stay. With ages ranging from 2 years old to 78 years old, there was something for everyone. There was plenty of room to spread out, the large dining room table was great for meals, and the pool, basketball court, and lake were brilliant amenities. Yes, it is an older property and so not everything is perfect (upstairs ovens are small, handle came off of bathroom sink), but nothing was a big deal. The host was incredibly responsive and we had a great time!
We took our three young kids to Lake Lanier for a quick Spring Break getaway. This home was beautiful and very spacious. There are several bedrooms and an open layout. The pool is small, but indoors, so our kids did not mind the cooler temperatures. There are kitchens on two levels and bathrooms everywhere! The backyard is open and there is a direct trail to the lake. Definitely recommend the proprty for family vacations.

Hi Sheila,
We have monthly pest control service and I am working closely with them to ensure we minimize pests. Unfortunately, per every pest control company I have talked to (and I've spoken to several) says lake, pool, hot tub, woods, being in the south, all are a perfect setting for bugs. However, I will continue to work on this to minimize impact of bugs which are inevitable in the South.
I am glad you enjoyed your time at the house and found the house to your liking.
Best wishes,
Kirti

Spending too much time with "Richard" trying to get AND keep pool heated!
Pool was not heated (fully) until the day before leaving. I should add the property was nice. TOO many calls and texts to Richard to repair pool heat. I will be requesting a refund for payment for pool heat AND significant inconvenience!!

Hi Steve,
Sorry, you had to spend time trying to resolve the pool heat issue. The pool was heated and ready on your arrival. Unfortunately, due to miscommunication during your stay the pool heat was impacted. I am glad we were able to resolve the issue before your departure, though I wish the miscommunication had never happened and you would've enjoyed your stay to the maximum.
Best regards,
Kirti
We had a great time at this property. We were three families with a total of 7 kids. The house gave us plenty of space and was right on the water. A few things I would point out, on the lower level where the rooms with the bunk beds are, the only bathrooms with showers are in the bedrooms with the queen beds, there are no bathrooms in the bunk bedrooms. And the bathroom in the hallway is a half bath and does not have a shower. Also, one of the bunk bedrooms does not have a door, and has a glass door leading to the outside which does not have window covering... these two combined meant a real lack of privacy.
The owner was a pleasure to deal with but should update some of the pictures. The basketball courts were not in the. best condition, one was broken and unable to be raised, there was no umbrella on the table on the dock... all small things but we just felt the pictures should properly represent the property. Again, we enjoyed our stay but think the pictures and description should be updated.

Hi David,
Thanks so much for your feedback. I am so glad you had a good time with your friends and family. It was great having you as our guest, thanks so much for staying with us.
Thanks for letting us know about your concern with the glass door. We decided not to put window coverings because the back of the house is private without any neighbors. We didn't want to stop the natural light coming through.
The bunk rooms are geared toward children and the house has two half baths and one full bath which are separate and in addition to the four attached baths.
The umbrella got broken and blown away as it wasn't closed during the storm is in the process of being replaced. However, I hope you were able to enjoy and use the two umbrellas on the back patio where the grill is.
Our goal is to make the stay as comfortable as possible for our guests. I am happy to learn that you all were able to use all the amenities the house offers and enjoy the many gathering areas for family and friends.
Pros: plenty of room, beautiful location.
Cons: The house was hazardous for anyone with visual or mobility impairments. There was a sunken living room, master bedroom bed was on a high platform, and there was a steep spiral staircase to get from one level to the other.
You are paying top dollar for this place and the indoor pool is cold because it is in air conditioning. They wanted a substantial amount of money to heat it. Really?
A basketball court is advertised., but there was no basketball. It was replaced when I complained., but shouldn't that have been checked before arrival?
The place is sterile, there are no games or flotation devices. I bought life vests so we could take the children in the lake.
The place would benefit from having light switches and kitchen drawers labeled. Manuals for the appliances would also be helpful. When the stove top didn't work, it was an easy fix., but we had to contact the owner to discover it.
There was no hot water in one of the upstairs bedrooms after the dishwasher was run. The ceiling was falling down in one of the bunkrooms.

Hi Marcy,
Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear your stay didn't go as you had hoped.
We don't advertise or provide any additional amenities such as floating toys/noodles, toys, and sports equipment.
I had already informed you that we had an unexpected leak during the storms and out of consideration for your privacy we waited to get the ceiling patched. We are happy to report that the leak and the ceiling are repaired.
You did mention that the shower was cold but the sink had hot water so I don't think it was a hot water heater issue. Hopefully, my suggestion that you move the lever towards the opposite direction to get hot water worked.
We try our best to make every guest stay comfortable and memorable. We will definitely look into your suggestions on user manuals for appliances, etc.
Best regards,
Kirti

Good house for groups, but needs a few improvements
Overall, the property is great for groups. Lots of rooms and bathrooms with room for entertaining on all levels of the house. Plenty of fridge space and general storage. The house was an amazing spectacle overall - very true to the pictures. The dock at the lake is enjoyable, but a bit perilous to get to (heads up if you are looking to get elderly/disabled to the dock).
We were a bit disappointed at the overall cleanliness of the house and communication. The house was clean on the basic level (clean sheets, towels, kitchen), but overall needed a deep scrub. (And there were only 6 forks in the whole house, which is odd since the listing says accommodates 10 people.)
When we arrived at the property we were also unable to access the house using the remote check in code because there was a separate lock on the door that prevented us from getting in. I reached out several times to the host, but did not receive a response until 4am EST (12 hours after check in). We were thankfully able to access the property due to a back door being mistakenly unlocked, but I hate thinking about the situation we would have been in had this not been in the case. Reviewing the contact information prior to having it sent out to ensure it is 100% accurate would be helpful and prevent this situation in the future.

Hi Lauren,
I am so sorry about the issue you had with accessing the house via the front door. Unfortunately, I was overseas and messages sometimes don't get delivered in a timely manner. However, I am glad you didn't get delayed in getting access to the property and were well settled in and enjoying your stay when we did communicate.
I am surprised you only found 8 forks. I like to have plenty of cutlery and utensils for my guests and counted 16 when I was there after I read your review. I have added 8 more for a total of 24.
We are in the process of getting a new dock as the current dock and stairs were damaged due to the hurricane . The stairs and the new dock are expected in July.
I am happy we were able to work together to make your stay enjoyable including the several changes you needed in dates, starting December 2020. I am also glad you were able to enjoy the large spaces in the house for everyone to gather without overcrowding. I try hard to make every guest comfortable knowing that they are there to make special memories with loved ones.
Wishing you the very best,
Kirti
Big house, great location on the lake, missed some marks
I want to be fair with this review. We had a wonderful time. The owner was lovely to work with & responsive. The house is large & decorated nicely, with great spaces for groups to divide up. We had a crew downstairs, 2 other groups at the 2 large tables playing games, & another off to the side on a comfy couch. The kitchen has a great island, lots of cabinets & drawers, & a good size refrigerator. There is a smaller refrigerator downstairs. We used the upstairs refrigerator for food & the downstairs for drinks. The dock was perfect: large, with great laying out space & lots of shade. It is an easy walk from the house to the dock.
The misses:
The kitchen is not set up for people who want to cook for a group. There were only 11 forks, one of which was a salad fork. Thankfully, I brought serving dishes, as there was only 1. The oven needs to be recalibrated, and the warming drawer doesn't work.
The house is not good for young children or people with mobility issues. The stairs going downstairs are steep, winding,& small.
The air conditioner is too small for a house. During the day it was hot on the main level. Thank goodness the main Master had its own unit. Downstairs was better.
Don't plan on sleeping late. Both masters had windows that looked onto the lake, but 1 master had sheer blinds & a thin drape. We were up at 6 a.m. with the sun.
The pool is a small, indoor lap pool. An outdoor pool would be better,
Lovely house that needs work.
We really enjoyed our stay! Check in was smooth and the neighbors were great! It’s easy to miss your entrance, but once on the property you won’t be disappointed! The car limit was a pain because we were flying in from different regions and with the airport so far, each couple had a car. We parked off site although there was space for 2 additional cars. The property was pretty clean. It’s secluded therefore there were occasional bugs inside, but nothing unmanageable. The owner was highly responsive and provided all we needed. The property itself is the jewel! The pictures do it NO justice! The kitchen wasn’t as “clean” as home but a quick wipe down and sanitizing did the trick. The master bedroom was beyond amazing and our group had ample space for game night, cooking out and a formal dinner and formal brunch. Sitting out on the dock was nice as well. There was only 1 trash can so it was a pain taking trash offsite to toss out being as though there was a limit on trash, but we made it work. I’m happy that I brought my own cookware because it was limited for someone who actually cooks especially with 16 people. The two kitchens made it much easier! There was accessibility to food no matter where you were in the hike! The real bonus was the bar area and the fact that there were more than enough bathrooms! There is nothing that I would change! The basketball court was perfect for the guys to shoot around and the pool was very relaxing! The price was steep, but I understand the reasoning now was to make sure the property was well taken care of by renters! Everyone was so impressed with the property that we have decided to rent again soon!

My wife and two young boys wanted to wind-down (with just the four of us) right after a larger family gathering in the Smokey Mountains on the Tennessee side. We are not familiar with the area, but had heard that there is a large lake outside of Atlanta within a few hours of the Smokies (also heard that it may be the lake where they filmed the Netflix show Ozark).
So we researched places on Lake Lanier. We had some requirements - we needed to be on the lake with a dock because the kids like to fish and kayak, and we wanted to make sure that there was enough for the kids to do so that my wife and I could spend time reading and generally doing nothing.
We could not have found a more perfect place. Between the easy, private access to the lake (with a great two-level dock), the basketball court, the large yard, and the indoor swimming pool, the kids were occupied and we didn’t have to take them anywhere.
The house was clean, well furnished, comfortable, and a ton of fun just to explore. A very unique design indeed - and situated perfectly on a very quiet part of the lake. It was the middle of August and we hardly saw anyone on the lake when kayaking around and exploring the coves.
But most importantly, Kirti was a great host. When booking VRBOs, especially in areas you are not familiar with, communication with the owner is paramount. Kirti was always quick to respond to any questions, concerns, etc., and always helpful.
Ever since COVID, all we have been doing is renting VRBOs in different places so that we can have a change of scenery when working from home and to keep the kids entertained as all of our overseas trips and summer camps were cancelled. So we have been doing this a lot since March and I have to say that this experience was among the best!
Thanks Kirti - if we are ever back down that way, we will be renting your beautiful house again!

I am glad the boys enjoyed the pool, the basketball court and the lake. It is always so nice to hear that our guests enjoyed their stay and had a good time with their families. It reminds us of similar reasons and times with our children when they were young.
You are welcome back anytime!
