We had a wonderful stay in Paihia. John and Ruth are welcoming and helpful. The cottage is beside their home but very private and comfortable. The best part is the deck where we ate each evening and enjoyed the beautiful view of the harbour.
The view from the deck is enchanting. The cottage is on the same property as the owner/manager. They are friendly and helpful when necessary. The cottage is smaller than we imagined from the photos. It was good for a short stay. The location is close to town.
Allure Cottage was perfect. It was exceptionally equipped, had a gorgeous view of the townsite and shoreline, and perfectly situated to the downtown core of Paihia. John and Ruth were excellent hosts. 5 star for everything.
Everything was perfect! The view was amazing and the location was perfect. We came in the winter, but I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to sit out on the deck in the warm summer months.
Great location, great deck and view, quaint feeling. Host John was a great source of information for area excursions, restaurants, wineries, sightseeing flights, driving day trips, and groceries. Overall perfect experience.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage—it matched the online description and met our expectations. The beds were comfortable, and everything was clean and tidy on arrival. John was friendly and made us feel welcome, which we appreciated. The driveway was a little challenging to manage, but overall it didn’t affect our stay. We’d recommend this cottage to others looking for a simple, comfortable place to stay.
Our questions got quick responses prior to arrival and John was very welcoming. There is a large deck with a great view. The cottage bedrooms were small, there was no AC and only a small fridge but it had everything we needed. It was quite rainy while we’re were there so the cottage felt damp.
This spot was perfect for our family (2 adults and a 5 year old). Very close to everything but removed enough that it was peaceful. We enjoyed a bottle of wine on the deck at sunset and had everything we needed. The hosts were so friendly, responded quickly to messages, and accommodating. They checked in a few times to make sure everything was good, but overall gave us lots of privacy. They went out of their way help with our laundry so we didn’t loose any time exploring the area. We would absolutely recommend staying here and wish we could have stayed longer!

Not as expected
We had booked the cottage but somehow the system allowed it to be double booked. The host was accomodating and gave us the "apartment" at no extra cost. Had we known it was a suite under their house, could hear every movement upstairs and stank of cat urine (huge wet area at front entrance with air purifier going when we arrived), we would have declined. Paihia was great but somewhat ruined by the accommodation.
This was such an amazing spot and perfect for a much needed getaway to unwind and de-stress.
The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed.
The view was exactly as the photo portrays and waking up to the sound of tuis the icing on the cake!
Definitely highly recommend this accomodation 🥰❤️
A lovely two-bedroom cottage with a harbour outlook and bush backdrop. All expected amenities. Parking is a bit tight, and the bathroom can stay damp for hours (there is a humidifier), but it's no big deal. Lovely hosts live next door. Would very happily stay here again.
