Tongariro River - Trout Heaven Cottage

Charming character kiwi bach beside Cherry Tree Reserve - 1/2 minute walk to the Tongariro River - excellent fishing, fabulous walks, mountain bike tracks - quiet laid-back holidaying, or full-on activities if you prefer:
White water rafting, 18 hole golf course, horse trekking, hot pools and fascinating Trout Hatchery all nearby.
Mountain Views, 1/2 hour to ski field, 1/2 hour to Taupo. 20 minutes to start of Tongariro Crossing - one of the top 5 one-day treks in the world. 5 minute drive to Tokaanu boat ramp on Lake Taupo.
Great local cafes - world class coffee and food available at The Creel (almost next door), rock climbing wall, swimming pool complex, mini golf, comprehensive supermarket all in walking distance.
Bach has cosy woodburner providing unlimited hot water; electric blankets on some beds, duvets and pillows supplied, but YOU NEED TO BRING OWN SHEETS, PILLOW CASES & TOWELS.
Several board games & ball games for children. The pantry is full of all the staple items - Tea, Coffee, Milo, flour, sugar etc. You are welcome to use anything you find. We only ask that if you finish something in the pantry, please replace it. Washing powder and dishwasher powder, detergent etc are all there.
Plenty of parking for boats and cars.

Please note: This is a cosy, quirky family bach - not a sterile 'hotel style' accommodation.
Special conditions:
2 night minimum stay.
1/2 Deposit payable on confirmation of rental - balance payable before rental period begins..
Strictly no smoking inside bach - thanks. Guests not to exceed 7 - it places too much strain on the bathroom facilities!

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: clean the house and do the dishes before you leave (or pay a $30 cleaning fee by arrangement); BRING YOUR OWN LINEN (SHEETS/TOWELS/PILLOWCASES)

Perfect Location

Perfectly located for fishing the Tongariro river. Batch has lovely decked outdoor area, great for a BBQ after a long day fishing.Home & beds comfortable and clean, will definitely be staying there again.

Great place to unwind

Great bach to hang out and explore the area. Beautiful walks and the river just out the gate. Kids had great time, which made it easy for us adults to have great time too Well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Really loved our stay.

Lovely house, property and position.

We have stayed here before and loved the place. Unfortunately the house was broken into prior to us arriving so that put a dampener on it as it was only a short break and one morning was wasted waiting for the police to arrive from Taupo. However if you are looking for somewhere peaceful to stay it is great.

A great place for a weekend stay with friends, well equipped kitchen and comfy seating arrangements. Easy reach of river and cafes. Visited the hare and copper for great lunch on Saturday.

We live in Tauranga & travel the 2 1/2 hour journey to Turangi at least one weekend per month plus holiday periods. We fish, ski, walk, mountain bike, drink fabulous coffee from our neighbourhood cafe & generally laze about when we're there - highly recommended.

Why they chose this property

The property is cosy, relaxed, informal & comfortable. Truly holiday mode when you are there. Great cafe & charming fishing tackle shop 1 minute's walk away.
