Takou River Lodge

The lodge was comfortable and well appointed. We mage use of the sun loungers, very pleasant sitting out reading a book and listening to the sound of bird song. Stunning location, very relaxing, so relaxing in fact that we lost track of the days so when Anna rang us to confirm our check out date and we realised it was that very day and we were out on a bike trail we were mortified and had to rush back to pack up. Anna was very understanding. Anna gave us lots of recommendations on activities in the local area to do. The road out to the lodge was a country gravel road, luckily we only met one vehicle coming the other way at night and they backed up which was very kind, not for the faint hearted or inexperieced driver.

Trevor and Viv were a pleasant couple who made the most of all the activities at the Lodge and in the surrounding area while staying with us at Takou River Lodge for 6 (nearly 7 ;-) nights. They invited an extra couple to stay for some of the time, and decided to bring their friend's boat with them too - they were all keen on fishing. I think perhaps towing the boat on the gravel road at night might have been the reason they were a little unsure about the road. We always highlight to future guests when we send out directions that the last section of road is gravel, maintained by the council :-)

Relaxing Getaway

We had a wonderful stay, the house and property was beautiful and everything we hoped for. Lovely place to relax and let the kids explore. We especially loved the log fire and just relaxing at the Lodge. Easy drive to explore the surrounding areas or pop out for dinner in Kerikeri. Highly recommended

Have it all as you escape from it all !!!

Wow what an incredible property - thank you so much to owners Ian and Anna for sharing their spectacular land by creating these beautiful cottages for everyone to enjoy. Could not have been happier with our stay - perfect for two families wanting an adventure holiday... there’s the river kayaking, glow worms, hikes and farm animals and log fires. Just loved it. Thanks Ian and Anna for making our family so welcome and letting us feed the animals !!
