About this property
Kiwi getaway family bach @ Waihi Beach - relax and unwind
Situated at the southern end of the sandy 9km Waihi Beach (surf patrols during summer) the bach is a great base to laze or explore the beaches and many local places of interest. With two decks enjoy breakfast on the front deck and refreshments on the rear deck as the sun goes down. Your choice of beaches - either the vibrant surf beach or sheltered Anzac Cove for a hilltop view (amazing sunsets) and for safe swimming and kayaking. The area abounds in walking and cycling treks and links in to the Hauraki Bike Trail. Go fishing from the shore line or boating - launch from the beach or several boat ramps. The boat club on the Harbour side is a hive of activity and a local watering hole! For a slower place the RSA has a great meal and outlook of the bay. As well as beach activities there are tennis courts, childrens playgrounds; an 18 hole golf course and hot pools nearby. The local Wilson road shops offer boutique gift and clothing shops, supermarket, butcher, bakery, art gallery and cafes/restaurants. Check out the local farmers market (each Sunday morning in summer) the concerts, gypsy fair, the beach events especially throughout the summer months. The information office in Wilson Road will offer updates on local happenings. Just 2 hours from Auckland to the north and 45 minutes from the thriving Mount and Tauranga. The climate encourages the farming of kiwifruit, avocados and citrus fruit and there are many roadside stalls with fresh locally grown fruit and veges. As well as beach activities you can trek or cycle through the historic gold trails in the Karangahake Gorge or visit Historic Waihi Township - view the depths of the Martha Mine. Enjoy a train ride from Waihi to the quaint Waikino train station in the scenic gorge. We have bikes and boards available for your enjoyment.
