About this property

Cabin w New Hot Tub, River/Kayak, WiFi, & Fire Pit

Summary:
Welcome to Tranquil Nights, hosted by Blue Maple!

The perfect getaway for your family, friends or small group!

The highlights:
- Relax in our private hot tub
- Cozy up around the fire pit
- Kayak on the river with private dock access
- Grill on our large deck
- Enjoy fast, reliable Frontier Fiber — perfect for streaming and video calls
- Drive 25 mins to Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants, shopping, and year round festivals

The Space:
Our large, family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for groups large and small. This open floor plan features two living areas, a fully stocked kitchen, large screened in porch and wraparound deck, propane grill, fire pit and can accommodate 10 comfortably.

The cabin includes:
- 3 bedrooms + a large basement sleeping area (1 Queen, 2 Doubles and 2 Twins and a bunk bed)
- A huge wrap-around deck with a propane grill and screened in porch
- Fully stocked kitchen
- Private outside hot tub that comfortably seats six
- Kitchen with a dishwasher
- Central heat and AC (it gets hot outside in WV in the summer!)
- Wood fireplace and wood pellet stove to keep you cozy at night
- Enjoy fast, reliable Frontier Fiber — perfect for streaming your favorite shows or staying connected with video calls
- Downstairs ping pong table
- TV with dozens of movies, DVD player, and Apple TV
- Plenty of books and board games to keep everyone entertained

Outside you’ll find:
- Relax in the hot tub
- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole gang
- 2 Kayaks ready for you by the river

Our cabin also has private access to the Cacapon River, just a quick 3 minute drive away. The river is perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing -- and is very clean and clear. We have one kayak and two paddleboards for you to use that we keep stored at the river from spring to fall.

We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).

Please note: A maximum of 6 adults are able to stay at this property, per the regulations of our cabin's HOA. Larger groups with a mix of adults and children are able to stay here -- up to 10 guests total. So if your group is > 6 people and includes children, that's totally OK! Please let us know so we can leave enough towels. Thank you!

Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are. You have all the amenities of living in the mountains, but you're also only 20 minutes from the city of Berkeley Springs. The town has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, and the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint.

The Neighborhood:
Tranquil Nights is just south of the city of Berkeley Springs, and feels like a world away from everything. The cabin is nestled in the Cacapon Mountains right near the Cacapon River.

We love the river! We often go swimming, tubing and fishing; it's perfect on a hot summer day.

About a 15 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company. They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers. They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ!

Getting Around:
There's plenty of parking on site. We're about a 20 min drive from Berkeley Springs.

Interaction with Guests:
Tony can be reached via cell/text during your stay, and a property manager can be onsite for any issues that arise.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Nice cabin for weekend getaway

This cabin was just right for a weekend away with friends. The location is peaceful and private. Comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, great screened in porch. Kitchen was well stocked with basics, but could use some dish towels, oven mitts and a baking dish. Had plenty of pots, pans and utensils.

Relaxation and privacy

This little cabin in the woods was in such a great location. We loved being both in a secluded location, but just a short drive to the river and not far from berkley springs to food/ supplies. We also took a day trip to winchester to shop. Loved the screened in porch to drink coffee and read.

Perfect cabin for a weekend getaway. The community is unique in that it is gated, but 1200 acres. We only used the upstairs bedrooms, but the beds were comfortable. Loved the screened in porch!! The only addition that is needed is a fly swatter. Some very large, but slow moving flies appeared on our last night and we had to get creative with how we disposed of them. Very clean cabin!

Cozy Weekend Getaway

My friends and I had a wonderful, cozy weekend retreat in the snow! The hot tub was so much fun and the s'mores ingredients were a nice welcoming touch. The owner was very responsive to any questions and allowed us to check out late due to weather conditions.

Great vacation

We had a great stay at the Nut House Cabin. It was clean and fully furnished with everything we needed. A good home base for our trip to Harpers Ferry, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and Berkeley Springs. The hot tub was a nice perk after a busy day sightseeing. We did not use the lower level bedrooms as our family of 3 didn't need the rooms, but they appeared to be nice. We loved being able to take the family dog. We would definitely return if in the area again.

Great Cabin Stay.

We had a great stay here at this Cabin. The road to get here is long and winding and the area was very quiet. It was at least 30 mins to get to the grocery store, hiking, Berkley Springs, or almost anywhere else of interest, but that was just fine to us. The screened in porch was huge and amazing! Great for bird watching and being "outside" bug free or while it's raining. The fire pit was nice and we did enjoy the hottub. The picnic area/kayak launch was beautiful, but the kayaks were MIA. I informed Tony and he had his maintenance guy pick up new ones the following late afternoon. I was able to use one of the Kayaks on my last full day which was fun, but wish we had them from the first full day. The cabin has the basic needs to cook, but might be rough if you are making multiple dishes at once. The room we stayed in (queen with twin) had a comfortable bed and pillows. There were some mice living in the cabin, but that wasn't surprising. Overall really good stay. I would stay again with minor fixes. Make sure you bring enough firewood, we went through a big bundle a day.

Was nice quiet place

Was what i expected, quiet, clean, private. Hot tub was very nice clean. I would warn anyone expecting to be "connected" internet is DSL. But you pretty much don't want to be online. It rained a lot filled the creek, wonderful to hear while on porch.

The cabin was comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Bedroom downstairs was cramped, noisy. We had enough bed linens, but were only 4 towels for 7 of us. Reached out to owner who responded that someone would bring more towels. NONE were ever brought. There was a washer and dryer, but that shouldn't have been needed for basics. Kitchen was nice, plenty of cookware, short on plates and bowls, luckily we brought some paper plates. This was also passed on to the owner with a response, but nothing brought to cabin. No toaster. The table was big, but we had to bring in some chairs from the porch when we were all together. Hot tub was great except or the towel shortage. Listing stated paddle boards and kayaks, but no paddle boards were there. There was a telescope in the photos, however it did not work. There was a ping pong table in garage, but the paddles were all broken and NO ping pong balls, area was dirty, table had mold on it. Owner was notified of these things in the initial contact with other issues, no action was taken. With young adults with us this was a disappointment. There were many DVD's but one of the DVD players didn't work. So we had to move them around up where there was more room. There was a fan on the porch that did not work. The fire pit was great, bring your own wood. They were pet friendly but the fee was 29 per night per dog for a cleaning fee. However, there was dog hair left from previous guests. Need to eval. cleaning co.

Ruined vacation

My family and I were planning our vacation far from home. While we were on the road for 3 hours, the owner of the house suddenly informed us in a text message that he could not accept us. The reason was that there was a strong wind, there was no electricity and the cleaning lady could not come to clean. At first he offered to return the money for renting the house, and then refused and offered to reschedule for other dates. He did not answer phone calls. We were at a loss! It was April 20, the day of our arrival! The service was at a terrible level. They did not offer us anything in return on the same day. The money has not been refunded to this day. I do not recommend booking a house with this owner.

Quiet Cabin in the woods

The property was as pictured, secluded, comfortable a serene location in the woods. The property management and communication was outstanding. And he cabin had everything you would need there and it could certainly host a family. For a rustic cabin it was great and serviceable. One minor complaint (and we realize we are being just a bit picky) the furniture and fixtures were a bit worn, the beds just a bit uncomfortable and wobbly. We enjoyed the location and it was just what we needed - but a little TLC would improve the experience immensely.

The Stress Cure!

What a wonderful stay! The nut house was the perfect cozy cabin, just far enough outside of town. After a day of hiking (Paw Paw tunnel hike was stunning in the snow), the warm fire welcomed us. The Nut House was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We cannot wait to return, as we left perfectly relaxed and happy to return to the daily grind. The owner was friendly, down to earth, and accommodating. And ( as a "clean freak") I was more than happy with the cleanliness of the cabin. Thank you for opening your rustic retreat to us! We are so grateful.

Well equipped, private cabin.

The Nut House is a very private house. It is extremely well equipped, including the makings for s'mores. It has a very nice screened in porch. Marie was very helpful and responsive to our needs. It was a little further from Berkley Springs than we anticipated, but really posed no problem. The only critcism I have is the dampness. The lower level would probably not be good for anyone with ashma or other breathing problems. We enjoyed our week there.

Cozy, private, great space!

Marie is an extremely responsive owner and answered all my questions promptly. When a problem came up she immediately fixed it and refunded a portion of the rental fee. The house is great- we had a fantastically restful couples weekend and thought about bringing our kids here in the summer to kayak, hike, roast marshmallows- looks perfect for laid back family fun. It was bigger than we two needed but the hot tub under the stars was heavenly and well worth it! Also, I cooked a lot over the weekend and was impressed with the quality of the kitchen equipment. The 2 wood stoves added a lovely touch - great for a winter weekend.

Update to my Cozy Weekend Getaway Review

The reason for my previous 4-star review was that we found the check-out procedures a little stressful, but the owner has assured me that she plans to revise her lease based on our feedback. I appreciate her willingness on that front. Also, one friend dropped her cell phone and the owner generously let us know and is making plans to get it back to her. We really appreciate this extra thoughtfulness, and on top of the cozy cabin, beautiful views, and hot tub, I'd love to upgrade to a 5-star review.

PERFECT 😁

No other word than “perfect”.......definitely recommend this property for a weekend getaway or even longer...... I wish we could have stayed about 10 more days. We arrived a little early and ran into the cleaning crew. We spoke to a Very respectful young man who let us know he would just be a few minutes until he finished...... we were fortunate enough to get an unofficial tour of the property from him. I have been in direct contact with the owner for weeks now and she is very responsive and helpful no matter how small my silly questions were😂😂..... we will be back

Host profile image
I live in DC with my wife and two young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for Tranquil Nights. We wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We picked River Ridge because of the river access, the community spirit and the easy access to America's original spa town, Berkeley Springs.

What makes this property unique

Tranquil Nights offers the ability to have multiple families stay together. Also great for a guys or gals weekend away. We provide three kayaks for at the river for the exclusive use of our guests. The community, River Ridge, welcomes all of the seasons. The first weeks of Spring bring white clouds of Service Berry blossoms, followed closely by the vibrant red buds and dogwoods. Violets, blue bells, and phlox carpet the river banks and hillsides. Summer calls for swimming and boating along the scenic Cacapon River. The River Ridge park has boat racks, a bath house, and picnic tables for outdoor fun. In the fall, the oaks, maples, and hickories steal the show with the golden Paw Paws along the river persisting until the first snows. In Winter, snow blankets the hills while curls of wood smoke and roaming flocks of wild turkey provide a memorable backdrop for holiday gatherings.
