About this property
Quiet Lakefront Retreat with Pontoon and Paddle Boat to Rent in summer
From the moment you pull in the driveway, you can’t help but notice the sprawling waterfront views adjacent to and behind the cabin, winter or summer - this is the perfect oasis to find nature and center on Center Lake! One of the original cabins historic to this area, With its wood paneled living room, this vacation home feels a bit nostalgic. Cozy pillows & blankets await your retreat in both bedrooms, one with king bed and the other with both a queen bed alongside an Ethan Allen daybed. A casual dining area includes a farmhouse table that seats five. There’s also an additional seating with gorgeous lake views in the 725SF enclosed porch during summer. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of cooking essentials and is equipped with a coffee station to prepare your perfect coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. A cabinet filled with games and a separate TV welcome our smallest visitors with activities in their own separate "kid's cozy" (den). Stocked with towels and toiletries, the bathroom includes a standard bath/shower.
Please note that the thermostats in the cabin are for HEATING only. The AC/cooling is thru use of the AC window unit in the main living room and fans throughout the cabin. It’s small and will cool & heat most effectively with bedroom doors open.
We want you to make yourself at home and welcome you to use the electric fireplace. Whether you have come to relax and enjoy the lake views, visit the nearby Chain O’ Lakes, or want to enjoy the nearby beach at Silver Lake Park,
It is important to note that the cabin has historic settling and, while inspected and deemed safe from a structural engineer, the floor in the east side of the living room is slightly angled. Also, the long-time wood burning fireplace was removed in 2022 yet a reminiscent odor of the fireplace remains.

The location on the lake was great and was able to catch small fish from the dock. The hosts were extremely responsive and cooperative with anything that came up. The hot tub was very relaxing. Overall, a fun getaway.
The photos represented the house well. The furniture was comfortable and heating was easy to manage. We would have been at a loss for how to use the oven if our niece was visiting for dinner and suggested we use internet search to figure out what the symbols mean.
Had a great stay at the Camp
lake house. It was very convenient to get to skiing. With winter we were able to see people ice fishing and enjoying the colder weather. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen has everything we needed to cook a New Year’s Eve dinner. Communication was awesome and having the extra ‘kids’ room was super helpful. Definitely would book again.
Pros1. kitchen appliances are updated, but oven is not standard and no user manual2.good water heater3. Good washer and dryer4. Host was available when texted Cons:1.Locks to back door outside sticks, someone really strong had to open.2. No coffee or filters provided. That should be said if it's not going to be provided.3.Dip in floor leading to bedroom is dangerous.4. The bathtub is slanted enough to be dangerous. You can slide forward if not on skid strips.5. I had to wash pots and pans before use. Most had a greasy film.6. There were no paddle boats available stated in description with no instructions where to get them7. Back porch has no overhead light switch and heavy rain left water accumulated in corner8. Black ants on kitchen countertop and we left no food lying around open, I realize it's lake country but no traps were apparent9. Train goes by and whistles 4x every night.

list of lake house pros/cons
pros
-screened in porch is relaxing, we used this the most
-soft/comfy bed & bedding (if you need a hard bed, this wouldn’t be for you.)
-AC did its job, we were never hot
-random amenities were very useful: i.e. tea kettle
-bathroom towels were plentiful & not scratchy
-paddle boat worked good
-bonfire pit was nice, plentiful wood
-tv, wifi, & streaming services worked well
-25 mins to lake geneva
-nice dive bar right down the street
cons
-older home (cushions need cleaning, smells musty)
-bathroom sink was very clogged/almost unusable completely when we arrived
-kitchen knives couldn’t even cut a bell pepper
-pics make it seem like you have a shore but there is not one, not even on the main part of lake (& their pics are taken when brush was much lower, so you can barely even see the lake from porch or bonfire pit)
-they said they left out life jackets but there were none
-we specifically asked about coffee, they said they have enough for all our coffee needs. there was in fact 2 small packs, so we had to go out and buy more.
-hosts made you strip beds, do all dishes, take garbage out, etc but this was not in listing or mentioned until checkout. cleaning crew was there as we were leaving, not sure why we had to clean while on vaca if they hire a cleaning crew?
-for the steep price, next time we’d stay one of the many nearby bnbs that would be cheaper & less work.
We were looking for a quiet fall getaway and this place delivered! It was a bit too cool to enjoy water activities, but we spent A LOT of time in the screened in porch enjoying the lake views and foliage. The property is close enough (25 min drive) to spend the day in Lake Geneva. We’d definitely book again!
We enjoyed our stay at Salem Lake. The hosts had a very complete kitchen and a nice grill. The furniture was not brand new, but that’s common and to be expected. It was fine for our needs.
Check In wasn’t quite as simple as it might have been, as the electronic door lock needed assistance from the house manager. I suggest a simple review of the procedure to open the lock be posted to the property website.
All in all - a fine trip.
The cottage was very clean, beds comfortable, plenty of dishes/pans/etc. Very quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed the porch and the fire pit. The weather was super hot all week and the AC kept us very comfortable. We were glad beautiful Silver Lake Park ($25/day) was so close since the lake access at the house was super weedy and not conducive to swimming. Games and toys came in handy on rainy days, as did the jumbo TV with streaming services and popcorn.
We had a wonderful time. The lake is beautiful and we loved hanging out on the screened porch and taking in the views.
The place was perfect for our toddler -- there was a whole little playroom full of toys, several fun toys like a horse and tricycle outside, and the whole cabin is fairly toddler proof (nothing sharp or fragile in reach) and has lots of interesting pictures and stuffed animals to capture the little one's attention. That was really fantastic and made the trip great for all of us. Heidi and Christian were very thoughtful and left us ingredients for s'mores and lots of firewood, and we had a great time making s'mores. The kitchen was well stocked with everything. The pontoon boat was really nice to take out too, so great to have it right there in your back yard! We saw beavers and frogs and lots of birds.
Overall it was a great experience, and Heidi and Christian were great hosts.
A few things to note, however -- there is no AC in the bedrooms, only in the living room, and no dishwasher. Wasn't a problem for us, but worth knowing before you go.
The nearby Silver Lake Park is great and is free for hiking/mountain biking, and costs $25 for non-residents to swim. The Veteran's Memorial Park nearby has a lovely trail that goes around a little lake, highly recommended.
