Skytop Retreat - Spectacular 50 mile Views! Pet friendly, hot tub, arcade

Your search for the ideal luxury home with incredible mountain views is over! Welcome to SKYTOP RETREAT, a spectacular home overlooking the Johns River Gorge and offering 50 mile layered mountain views from nearly every room!

If you want to see the best views around you'll need to go off pavement. This home is accessed by a very steep gravel road. 4WD or AWD vehicles are absolutely required year-round, and during winter months chains may also be necessary. All guests going to Skytop Retreat must drive respectfully and slowly through the neighborhood. There is a garage with room for 2 cars, and room for 2 more cars to park outside. It is a shared driveway and the neighborhood has one-lane gravel roads. Please see more details below.

As you enter the home, you'll move through the foyer into the dining room. This welcoming space features a table with seating for 10 people, so there's plenty of room for everyone to pull up a chair and break bread together. A few steps down from the dining room leads you into the great room with its soaring ceilings, stone gas log fireplace, TV, and glass double doors to the open deck. The kitchen is at the rear of the great room, and is a chef's dream with Viking brand stainless steel appliances, granite counters, huge island, custom cabinetry, warming drawer, and a variety of helpful small appliances including a food processor, blender, hand mixer, slow cooker, and a rice cooker. The pantry offers an built-in ice maker for your convenience, as well.

Skytop Retreat features several options for those who want to have some fun, kick back, and relax. The lower level has a den area with comfortable couches arranged around a big screen TV, BluRay player and an XBox360, as well as a shuffleboard table and a multi-game arcade cabinet stocked with all the classics from the golden age of games. Of course, don't miss the ever-changing awe inspiring mountain views from your seat on the deck! During the winter months you can hear the sounds of flowing water and see a small waterfall to the left of the house, and those nimble enough to navigate can enjoy seeing it up close on the cleared pathway to it. And there's simply no better way to relax than a nice long soak under the stars in the hot tub on the side deck.

There are four bedrooms as well as a private sleeping loft, giving Skytop Retreat a total of five sleeping areas. The main level offers a bedroom with a Queen bed, a fireplace, and an attached full bathroom with a shower. Upstairs you'll find the loft with a Queen bed, and down the hall is the luxurious master bedroom suite with a King bed and ensuite bathroom with champagne soaking tub and separate tiled shower. Downstairs on the lower level are two more bedroom suites. One offers a King bed and the second offers a Queen bed, and both bathrooms have a tub/shower in them. There's even a full-sized folding portable crib with mattress stored in an upstairs closet, along with a booster set, perfect for the littlest guest to use.

Skytop Retreat invites you and your loved ones to relax and renew your souls in this special slice of the mountains. No matter what you do here in the High Country, you'll love coming home to Skytop Retreat!

VERY Nice, With Exceptions
Skytop Retreat is a beautiful home with amazing views. And I would perhaps return. However, some caveats that future renters should know: As the listing says, bring a 4-wheel drive vehicle, with substantial well maintained tires, no low profile fancy wheels. Our door code did not work, really no big deal if the property management company would actually answer the phone - this one kind of put everyone in a sour mood since we were a two party separated arrival. Of note, the house, while overall fairly clean, could use a thorough dusting - many surfaces had dust and many dust bunnies were seen - as well as previous renter’s hair. Bring your own blankets, not every bedroom had one. Contrary to the description, the internet service was provided through Starlink - which was great. The fireplace in the main floor bedroom did not function. And lastly, at some point an unknown person entered the locked garage and removed the garbage from the cans. While we did appreciate the fact that garbage was removed, we ABSOLUTELY DID NOT appreciate having an unknown person - without our knowledge - enter what we thought was a secure space with our vehicles and personal belongings. That’s how bad things happen folks - a knock at the door or a call should be mandatory before anyone ever enters a property. Aside from that, future renters, enjoy your time at Skytop Retreat. It is overall pleasant and very nice.

Skytop Retreat… amazing views
Fantastic property with unparalleled views. We had a very relaxing vacation. The property is close to Blowing Rock, but also at the gateway to Linville. We loved it.

Amazing house with amazing views!
Probably one of the most well appointed homes we’ve rented. Tough side road on the way to the house but 100% worth it. Rental company was efficient and great to work with. Highly recommend.

Transformational Stay
The Skytop lodge is truly a magical place. I stayed there with 5 other women as part of a retail trading women's retreat and cannot even begin to explain the transformation that occurred. When you walk into the home you are greeted with a view that will literally take your breath away. The pictures just simply do not serve it justice. The house is perfectly equipped to host a gathering or retreat or family reunion. And there was a bonus trail close to the property that leads you down to 2 small waterfalls. That was such a nice surprise. The drive down into the property is a bit bumpy - and I understand the need for all wheel drive. Getting down is no problem, but you certainly need that AWD to kick in on the way up. The best part of the stay was the magical sunrises in the morning. I am sure this is in the description of the property, and I must have overlooked it. But to experience the sunrise over the blue ridge mountains, with the trickle of the stream in the background, the occasional bird song while sipping your coffee is just one of wonder. There were minor hiccups - ice maker did not work and the downstairs fireplace was not working during our stay. But the management company let us know and had a bag of ice for us. And we spent most our time on the main floor anyway, and that fireplace was wonderful. And the place is perfectly appointed and very clean. Needless to say, I will be back.

Breathtaking Views
The property exceeded our expectations and the pictures do not do it justice. The views from every room were stunning. The house was exceptionally clean and stocked with anything you need. Four wheel drive is definitely a bonus since the road to the house is not paved. We will most certainly stay here again.
