About this property
Awesome Cottage, Views, Waterfalls, Cute animals, streams, privacy, easy access
Welcome to Wicklow Woods! We have designed our large 10 acre+ property for families and groups looking to stay in extremely clean and tastefully appointed lodging. There are steams, ponds, waterfalls, distant views of the mountains without ever leaving Wicklow.
If your dream is escaping to the North Carolina Mountains, we are nestled in a quiet cove surrounded by beautiful mountains, minutes from downtown Andrews, NC. While staying with us in Wicklow Woods, you will find peace and serenity that can only be found in the Mountains of the Carolinas. We are just minutes away from Andrews, NC where you can enjoy mountain biking, golf, fly fishing, horseback riding, scenic drives & walks, shopping. White water rafting adventures on the nearby Ocoee or Nantahala rivers are not far away. Our close proximity to many of major attractions, such as the Cherokee Nation Reservation and the Great Smokey Mountain National Park makes our location desirable for families looking to pack their week-long vacation full of activities.
Wicklow is an Andrews, North Carolina getaway with the privacy of cabin lodging. The decoration is somewhat shabby chic and upscale cabin lodging. We often get comments about the high quality of the furnishings, bedding and linens. People feel immediately comfortable! (Please see the feedback and comments from past guests.) You will find a mini library and plenty of games to entertain yourself or the kids! We recently enlarged the stocked fishing pond, added a new horseshoe pit as well as a 10ft high waterfall that empties into a wading pool with sandy beach. Visit with our miniature donkeys that reside in our pasture.
The lodge has a spacious feel with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and 2 family rooms featuring large flat panel smart TVs. Sunshine fills the upstairs living area by day, and the large stone fire pit and Adirondack chairs afford cozy nights by the fire. The fully equipped kitchen features oven, stove, refrigerator, large microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker and additional small appliances. The antique farmhouse dining table with handmade bench and Windsor style chairs can seat up to eight. You have everything you need to prepare a homemade family feast.

About the host
Hosted by APRIL D SARGENT
I am a licensed Realtor and long time boy scouter / volunteer. I have 5 children, aged 36 to 17. My wife and I love the mountains and the out of doors. I have been experiencing this area for my entire life and created many memories for our children to have and cherish. We currently have 2 donkeys, 4 dachshunds (Teddy, Tula Mouse and Pickle).
Why they chose this property
I purchased this property because it reminded me of Wicklow Ireland. The beautiful mountain backdrop, green gently rolling pasture and water. Water everywhere, streams, springs, branches and ponds. It fit my vision of a private retreat. It is located at the end of the road. At night its dark, very dark. The sky is bright with stars. Many at night we observe shooting stars. Our backyard is 10,000 acres of National forest service land. This is our bit of heaven and we thoroughly enjoy sharing and hosting this experience with others!
What makes this property unique
Wicklow Woods is perfectly located for all kinds of activities. On the property we have a wonderfully large fire pit to sit around and enjoy. There are several ponds stocked with fish. We have horse shoe pits and plenty of room to play and run around in the well groomed pasture area. Kids love playing in the mountain stream that flows across Wicklow. Many people take leisurely walks and everyone takes time and visits with the miniature donkeys. Nearby there are numerous beautiful walking trails, including the Joyce Kilmer National Forest , which is the last standing virgin forest . There are many rivers and waterfalls within the county that have nice scenic walks. Additionally there are on road or off road Bicycle riding paths. The 'dragons tail' is nationally known for its driving (cars or motorcycles). Our area is known for its world class trout fishing.
