The cabin was just what we were looking for. It has perfect relaxing views, 17 acres of privacy, a wood burning fireplace, cleanliness and many other amenities. It was also close to the North Carolina mountains for exploring. It’s a 10!
The host was amazing ... this was just what I needed. A retreat and a sanctuary while I took care of some very tender business in the neighborhood. If you're not local ... I'm a chicago yankee it is remote and a real option is to prepare your own and just soak in the the solitude while you dine. Do be ready to engage with the locals where ever you may find your self. This particular holler is so welcoming when you do. I got back to my own hood last night and it felt so noisy after this place of healing..
Great experience with this stay. House was as expected from the photos. Communication with Maxanne was seamless. Be better prepared than I was for when you arrive to know the door code as cell signal is not great.
Perfect place for a much needed rest for one week. Very neat and clean property. Very quiet too. Perfect launch place to visiting Tri Cities and Appalachian Trail. We'll come back again!
From the communication with The owner Maxanne, to the minute we got ti the Cabin, then the Delicious Brownies by the Housekeeper Lena, everything was beyond Perfect, the View, the peace, the Privacy and the locatiion was Perfect for us, Love it 100%
This lovely home provided our family with a wonderful place to stay. The view is spectacular! Everything you need is there. It is spotlessly clean, the bed are comfortable, and it is beautiful. Sun in the morning on the front porch, sun in the afternoon on the back porch.
The cabin was absolutely perfect for us. So clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The view was stunning, the setting was serene and we saw many deer on the property during our stay.We spent most of our days in the Beech Mountain area which was about an hour drive but we enjoy the mountain drives and feel like it adds to our experience. Plus I preferred to get away to this quiet place after full days of the fun but touristy areas we would visit. At Beech Mountain we took the kids sledding, tubing and skiing. We stayed for New Years. When we arrived on the 30th it was snowing as we drove through Blowing Rock and Boone and even flurries at the cabin when we arrived, but the rest of the trip was a bit too warm for snow. But at Beech Mountain it was always colder and there were some times there were flurries and of course they produce snow also, but it felt like a winter wonderland to us as Floridians.
From the minute we drove up the driveway my husband had a smile on his face during our stay here. The house, the views, wildlife, the privacy and our communication with Maxanne- this place was just what we needed for some R and R!! I felt like I was staying at a friend’s home - that’s how at home we were made to feel. Directions and helpful hints to all things in the area were available. We were even greeted with brownies and a lovely welcoming note! Thank You Maxanne for an awesome stay!!!

You are so welcome Lisa! It was a pleasure having you as our guest!!
We really enjoyed our stay! The pictures don’t do justice. It’s a beautiful cabin and was very clean! The beds are very comfortable. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to make our Thanksgiving meal. The fireplace was wonderful, we took a lot of walks on the beautiful property, watched the World Cup, and played games. We were so relaxed and comfortable we didn’t leave the cabin until it was time to checkout! The homemade pie from Lena, the housekeeper was very nice! Thank you for the wonderful stay!
We definitely enjoyed the time we spent at this adorable cabin in the mountains. The view from the front porch was breathtaking. Enjoyed the peace and quiet with a view while drinking my morning coffee. Being from flat Florida, the twisty winding back roads to get there are a little nerve wracking at night, but it was worth the drive. The house sits on top of a hill with a pretty steep, long graveled driveway. I have an suv with two wheel drive and didn’t make it up the driveway on our first try. If you don’t have four wheel drive, you just need to get a good running start to make it up to the house. They also have additional parking at the bottom of the driveway which is nice. Upon arrival, they left us a pan of delicious freshly baked brownies. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to a family emergency, but we would definitely stay here again.
We stayed over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time some spent visiting friends in TN, some relaxing, doing jigsaw puzzles and watching movies, and some hiking. This was a fabulous venue for it all. Communications with Maxanne about the rental were timely and informative. We felt immediately welcome like family when upon our arrival we found the housekeeper had made us a pie for the holiday! Overall we loved the place and would definitely recommend it!
The views are stunning! Fall colors were at their peak. The cabin was a great place to unplug and enjoy the beauty around us. The local mercantile store has a great home cooked meal and is very close to the cabin. We look forward to returning.
Perfect, beautiful home with incredible views and located near to tons to do!
If your goal is to explore Lake Watauga, TN, and surrounding areas, this is the place you want.
The home is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The view from the front porch where you WILL have your morning coffee is an ever changing postcard.
The location...secluded but easy striking distance to two marinas on the lake where you can and should rent a pontoon boat for a day.
You ate within an hour of Grandfather Mountain (awesome hiking and visitor center- don't miss it), Culver's gap where you can hike the appalachain trail and take in amazing vistas, ziplining, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, wineries, Boone, NC for walkable shopping in a college town, Banner Elk for higher end dining and a mountain coasters etc. Etc. Etc. Etc.
The cabin is far enough from everything and everyone to where you will feel like you are away from it all, but close enough to so many activities it isn't even funny.
The mercantile around the corner was being renovated when we were there, but there is a Dollar General less than 15 minutes away that has all of the basics as far as food etc. Real grocery stores are a but farther, but you can hit them on your way back from day trips to enjoy the area. You'll spend some time in the car going to and from your daily activities, but the miles are on gorgeous, windy country roads with views and wildlife and the time spent behind the wheel is a pleasure.
Maxanne was fantastic to deal with, and the cabin awaits you with everything you need to feel like home.
We couldn't have possibly enjoyed the house, the area and the rental experience more.
Checkout requirements were the easiest we've ever experienced with VRBO.
If you seek a beautiful inside and outside, clean, spacious and well appointed home as your base for enjoying all that this area of Tennessee and NC has to offer, look no further.
15 out of 10 in every way. Maybe 20 out of 10 when that morning coffee view of the valley (that you can see from just about everywhere inside the house too) is factored in, because pictures just don't do it any justice at all!
We loved our stay on these amazing 17 acres. The property was exactly as it was advertised - plenty of space for our family of five and our dogs. The house is well furnished with everything we needed from kitchen supplies and equipment to linens and bath towels.
Our host, Maxanne, was helpful in the planning of our vacation...full of recommendations and helpful hints. She was extremely responsive to our planning questions and made checkin and checkout very easy.
We explored the property as well as did day trips to Bristol, TN, Boone, NC and locally around Watuaga Lake. We would come back in a heartbeat as we made wonderful memories!
This place is wonderful, clean and comfortable. The owner was great to work with and very helpful. The view from the deck is beautiful, but the entire area around Lake Watauga offers stunning scenery. We will be back.
Cabin was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
