The cabin was amazing and exactly what we were looking for. If I had any issues it would be with the entrance off the main road was difficult and the pillows could use an upgrade. Other than those minor things it was a great place to stay.

The cabin was as advertised. Sweet place nicely furnished, clean, with everything our family needed. Communication with host was prompt. We especially enjoyed sitting on the front porch looking out at the mountains. Close to Boone and Tweetsie Railroad. I would recommend this cabin and would return again if visiting this area.

The cabin was beautiful with an amazing view of Grandfather Mountain! Our hosts were so kind to let us check in early and very responsive to the one question we had. We loved the hot tub, the kitchen was well appointed, and the house was very clean and comfortable. My only suggestion is to bring your own pillows and maybe sheets for the pullout couch if you plan to use it.

About the host

Host profile image

Hi! I’m Michelly, originally from Brazil. I love waterfalls, sunshine, being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying good food. Hosting gives me the chance to share a warm and welcoming space with others — and I truly enjoy helping guests feel at home during their stay.

Why they chose this property

I chose Sugar Grove because it truly feels like a hidden gem. Surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife, it’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy nature. One of the things I love most is how it transforms with the seasons — peaceful hikes and waterfalls in the summer, and in the winter, some amazing nearby spots for skiing and snowboarding. It’s a place that brings me joy all year long, and I love sharing that experience with my guests.

What makes this property unique

What makes Grandpa John’s Cabin special is the perfect balance it offers — you get beautiful views and a peaceful, quiet setting, while still being just a short drive from great restaurants, shops, and local attractions. It’s the kind of place where you can truly relax, disconnect, and still enjoy the convenience of everything nearby. A cozy escape with the best of both worlds!
