Come stay at Salty Escape in the heart of Kill Devil Hills. Additional pictures and info can be found at FB Salty Escape OBX. This vacation rental offers a community swimming pool during the summer season that has a mini water park with a lazy river, splash pools and water slide! The pool and water park start weekend hours in early May. Late May-early September, the pool is open daily. There is a clubhouse with a lounge area, pool table, entertainment area and a fitness center.

Fully furnished with every convenience, this family-friendly 3BR, 3.5BA condo has a stocked kitchen, eat-on bar, roomy dining room and table, cozy living room, upper media loft, free Wi-Fi, cable TV and multiple decks to relax and enjoy the day's catch cooked on the provided grill. This well maintained property sleeps 9 with 2 sets of bunk beds for the kids, and 2 bedrooms with queen sized beds for the adults and a fold out sleeper chair in loft/media room.

Relax in the upper level media room to play video games(bring your own system), enjoy a movie or play board games. This is a great space for kids of all ages. There is more room to lounge in the family room...a space that the adults all enjoy!

The lower level garage offers room for 1 vehicle parking, one parking space at the unit and visitor parking in the community. The parking is limited, especially the visitor spots. It is recommended that you limit your vehicles to 2.

Also included in your stay is a beach wagon with beach chairs and cornhole boards. Take a short 1 mile walk or drive to the beach access that provides a fully equipped bath house with on-site showers, restroom facilities and plenty of parking.

Salty Escape is conveniently located to the Wright Brothers Memorial, grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. It also provides kayaking sound access via a dock in the back of the community. Book your getaway now!

Beautiful and well appointed

Just finished our stay. I can not say enough what a wonderful place this was. There were 3 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of space. The kitchen had everything you would need. The pool area was so much fun for the kids! We will definitely be back.

Wonderful home!

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The kitchen had everything we needed, there was plenty of toilet paper and paper towels, cleaning products, soap! We loved the loft which gave us room to spread out. And we took advantage of the pool especially since the ocean didn't cooperate (jellyfish). Very centrally located. I wish our stay had been longer.

Family get together

The condo was amazing! Grandson loved the swimming area! We had two vehicles and got a ticket because it wasn’t parked in our spot because another car was in it! I guess it wasn’t technically our spot according to the property manager! So I would be cautious about multiple vehicles. But definitely would visit again.

Salty Escape is a great place to stay in KDH!

From placing the booking to checkout, all was seamless. The host was very responsive. Bermuda Bay is great for kids of all ages with their pool & volleyball. The ocean was rough (red flags) while we were visiting, so the pool was wonderful. The home was perfect for our family gathering. I would definitely stay at Salty Escape again & would certainly recommend it to others.

OBX getaway

The owner was excellent in communication and very accessible to answer all questions. The unit was clean and perfectly located. There was plenty of room for our party of nine. We never felt like we were on top of one another. The kitchen was adequately equipped to prepare many meals.

Weekend getaway

This is a beautiful house with a nice location. Property managers were nice. The cleanliness of the house… not so nice. We arrived at 4:15, check in was for 4:00. The cleaning service was still there so we had to come back at 4:45. Unfortunately the HVAC wasn’t working but family member was able to fix it and property owner credited him for his work. Don’t know if the maids didn’t finish but the stairs carpets were filthy, previous renters had left there trash in the garage so we had to clean it up so we weren’t held responsible and they left the dirty towels/ linens in front of garage our whole stay. I enjoyed the house but there was definitely some mold going on in the HVAC as well as the laundry washer. There were also dead cockroaches on the first 2 levels. We had a good family experience but they probably need to hire better companies to oversee these issues. Jocelyn was lovely on phone and messanger and we found renting from her pleasant.

I’m so sorry that you had issues during your stay that we were not aware of. We would have liked the opportunity to remedy it immediately. When your group called to tell me about the hvac issue but said someone in your party could resolve it, we were so thankful. During our conversation, we had asked how everything else was and there was no mention about cleanliness, late check in, linens, bugs, etc. Without knowing this, we were not able to address it immediately. Unfortunately, waterbugs are a fact of life in OBX and our home is not immune. We do our best to keep them out by having a service contract and spraying our home monthly.

Highly Recommend with excellent owner

When we arrived, we took a quick look through to check everything. Unfortunately, the bedroom on the ground floor had an issue: the sliding door didn't work well, and didn't close all the way so there was no way to lock it. On the patio outside of that same room, was the grill. The grill was clearly never cleaned. I notified Jocely immediately, and she was prompt with replying. She got her handyman, Roy, out there within a few hours to fix the door, he checked the grill and told her it was no longer useable, so she ordered a new one. Roy came back out with the new grill the next day while we were out and set it up. He didn't need to come inside so it was pretty easy. Communication with Jocely was great. The following day we were going to run the dishwasher but noticed. there was standing water at the bottom. Again, I contacted Jocely and she sent Roy out pretty quickly to fix it. Thankfully it was an easy fix, so it didn't take long. I forgot to mention that when we first arrived and were checking things out, we noticed a comforter was stained and the washing machine had some gross mildew. There were plenty of extra linens, so we just put the one aside and told the owner about it. We cleaned the washer, too. Two recommendations: be a good renter and clean the grill and leave the washer door open after using it.

Perfect Rental for Entire Family!

The Salty Escape hands down exceeded every expectation. There was plenty of room for our large family and the house was stocked with every necessity. The pool was perfect for the kids and the beach access was just a short trip up the street. Centrally located with so much to do in the area. The host Jocely was quick to respond to all questions and check in/out was super convenient. Will definitely be staying here again

good spot in KDH. I would suggest arriving at the beach between 10-10:45 for parking if going to the one directly across the road (with bathrooms/showers) parking fills but it's not a deal breaker. The pool house/fitness center were super close and easy to use. The townhome was well kept and appointed. it's a bit tight in the garage/parking pad - we were lucky to snag a visitor's spot for the week and left a car there which gave us room for bikes and all in the garage. The community could use some speed bumps or something. There were several cars racing through the roads there (obviously of no fault of the owner) which made bike riding a little iffy at times. The communication was great - I probably asked too many questions!

Fun for the whole family!

We loved our whole entire stay here! The owner was very helpful and understanding. The condo had everything we needed. We felt safe and everyone had something to do! There were rip currents for a few days so the pool was a huge plus for us when we couldn’t swim at the beach. We visited the beach every day though at some point. No complaints here!

We loved our stay at the Salty Escape. The pool was a blast for kids (and adults), the beach isn’t far and neither are yummy restaurants. Would come back again! Everyone in the complex was warm and welcoming too.

i sayed at the house for 9 days -the last day of our stay the power went out in the master bedrrom wich i was staying called trhe # they left ---I a got back was a text who is this ?" I asSume the nest # i called was the owners they did nothing to fix the problem -nor did they refund me one night stay ....She was more worried about how the rest of the stay was ---ON TOP OF THE SHE CALLS MY SISTER (WICH IS BIZARRE) --SHE WAS STRESSED TO THE MAX WITH OUT OF TOWN QUEST FOR A LARGE WEDDING EVENT-------WOW HOW RUDE IS THAT !!!!S MY SISTER WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT ME SLEEEPING UN THE HALLWAY ---MY SISTER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOUSE -SHE DID NOT RENT IT--- THINGS THAT NEED UPGRADING ARE CARPETS ARE NASTY AND SMELLY-NO FULL LENTGH MIRROR GLASSWARE WAS ALL DIRTY ----I WILL NEVER RENT THROUGH THEM AGAIN PATRICIA AND GERALD OLIVERI

We strive to provide the best experience for all of our guests and do our absolute best to make sure everything is provided and in working order. This particular guest called at 10:00pm on the night prior to checkout to complain about a tripped breaker in the bedroom. She was incoherent, similar to this review, and demanded an electrician be summoned immediately or we would need to refund part of her stay. This review is the follow through on that extortion, in addition to leaving our condo full of trash, food, and empty liquor bottles. An electrician went to the property the next morning after checkout and simply reset the circuit breaker. Our fantastic team was fortunately able to get this place cleaned and up to our normal high standards in time for our next guests, who left us a 5-star review. Please consider all of our other 5-star reviews to date and take this review with a grain of salt.

Great place in Kill Devil Hills

We had a great stay at the Salty Escape. First and most importantly, Jocely was great to work with, incredibly responsive and helpful. Made everything super easy from check in to check out. Nice house, well furnished. Plenty of room for the three of us. Location is right near the Wright Brothers Memorial, you can see it from the front door. We were off-season, so some things were closed, but still plenty to do for our first visit to the Outer Banks. Happy to recommend the Salty Escape.

Fantastic outing in Outer Banks

Salty escape was perfect for two families. We were 8 people and all of us had enough beds very neatly made. Also, the kids enjoyed the bunk beds a lot. There were a lot of DVD disks to watch from and lot of books to read from. The dining room accomodates 10 people and is very spacious. We cooked 4 times in our short stay and we had everything we needed. Jocely, the owner was very responsive and we would like to thank her for this wonderful place.

The BEST weekend!!!

All I can say is THANK YOU!!!! This was a much needed mommy- girlfriends weekend. We did what we wanted and did not do what we chose not to do. The stairs gave us a challenge BUT ultimately the host provided a great getaway. We appreciate them and the unit was AWESOME!!! We plan to return.
