About the host

Host profile image
We were finally able to purchase this 3 acre property - next door to our 5 acre property - after it had been abandoned for many years. We totally redid it and are so happy to present it as a place of rest, relaxation, restoration, respite, retreat and fun for families and friends!

Why they chose this property

This is an unusual underground geodesic dome built in the 70's. The couple who designed it were also horticulturists and there are many unusual plants and trees on the property along with a lot of wild life. The underground Hobbit House maintains a year round temperature average of 65 degrees. We did add a central heating and whole house dehumidifier system, though no air conditioning is needed we do have a unit there. It was Tom's idea for a Hobbit House theme and we spent over a year painstakingly working to create a unique, artistic and special hobbit getaway for family and friends to gather at "the shire".

What makes this property unique

Peaceful, private, quiet, gated, natural getaway with great views.
