Beautiful Adirondack Lake House
The Maples is a charming, historic lakeside home on the west shore of Schroon Lake, in the stunning Adirondack Mountains, with over six million acres of lakes, streams and forested wilderness.
The house features wide lawns with exquisite lake and mountain views, Adirondack chairs, and perennial gardens. A large dine-in porch, overlooking the lake, furnished in white wicker, is everyone’s favorite. A spacious contemporary kitchen, comfortable living room with piano and fireplace adjoins the beautiful dining room.
The house sleeps seven, in four bedrooms, with two and a half baths, and laundry.

About the host
Hosted by Phyllis Shames Korn
Phyllis Shames first came to the Adirondacks as a young camper at nearby Camp Woodmere in 1944. Her parents, Frank and Dorothy Shames stayed nearby to visit, fell love with Schroon Lake, and bought The Maples the following year. The family has enjoyed this lakeside home ever since.
Phyllis brought fiance Marty to visit in 1955, and he too fell under the thrall of the Adirondacks. They remain avid hikers, climbers and sailors to this day, and now live "up the hill" from Spring until Fall, with adventurous visits from children, grandchildren and friends.
