About this property

Thatched Roof, Elegant Cottage in Doolin, Spectacular Views, Tranquil

This beautiful home in Doolin, Ireland was built in 1998 as a traditional, thatched-roof, Irish cottage and contains all modern amenities.

Each of the bedrooms is en suite, with antique pine furniture. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and the two guest rooms each have twin beds. The master bath has a bathtub and shower. The house has wireless access.

The Great Room has a two story fireplace, conveniently gas fired. There is a panoramic conservatory with 180 degree views, including Cecil B. Demille sunsets.

The view from the house was featured in the September 2007 issue of Conde Nast Traveler magazine. The striking Doonagore Castle, one of the most photographed castles in Ireland, is located immediately down the hill from the cottage and is framed by the conservatory windows. A round tower built c.1350, Doonagore Castle was entirely restored in 1975.

The cottage is surrounded by grazing cattle, lending another level of tranquility to the idyllic setting.

A circular driveway brings guests close to the front door, should there ever be inclement weather! We joke that our favorite occupation is sitting in the conservatory and watching the weather change.

When the cottage was being built, one of the builders suggested naming the cottage. He said we should name it Draiocht, which means a magical place, and it is.

Wonderful house in wonderful location
This house is an absolutely gem, situated just above the castle and offering fabulous views of the coast from the conservatory windows. We had a short stay with adults and small children. There were ample supplies of all necessities (soaps, cleaning products, extra blankets etc). The furnishings are all of top quality. We had a really comfortable, marvellous stay!

Loved it
We all absolutely loved the house, the situation was perfect for visiting all the fantastic places in the area. The Burren in particular and The Cliffs of Moher. Doolin is definitely a delightful place to walk to (20 minutes) for dinner. Doolin Cave absolutely great. All in all an absolutely lovely place to have a holiday. We all so loved it. The house is gorgeous with a great garden space and beautiful views. Thank you so Elizabeth.

It was a truly lovely cottage even better than expected
My gripe would be with Home and Away which seems to make things very complicated by having to make 2 payments one to you H and W and then another to the extremely nice owner (that had to be in euros or $). I would NOT use you again. Agencies usually just take the full payment and sort it with the owner. Your set up is truly messy and time consuming!!!

Perfect house in a perfect location
The view of the castle and ocean out the back windows was an incredible way to start the day. Hiked to the Cliffs of Moher & took the ferry from Doolin to the Aran Islands. The house is charming, comfortable & quiet. Highly recommend it.

My dear father built this house in 1998, after he had spent a considerable amount of time in Ireland and Northern Ireland supporting the Good Friday Peace Accords. He and my mother fell in love with this extraordinary part of the West of Ireland and built a home that became his great love.
