About this property
The Stone House - Wild Atlantic Way
This house is truly a remarkable work of art. It was built to resemble an old stone barn and does so beautifully.
On the bottom floor there are two bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms. One bedroom has a king size bed while the other has a queen. There is a study just outside the master bedroom. Upstairs you will find a magnificent Great Room. At the one end there is a seating area in front of a gorgeous stone fireplace. At the other end you can sit and take in the Aran Islands, Galway Bay and breathtaking sunsets through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
In the center of the room, there is a kitchen area with an antique table. Also, hidden behind the fireplace, there is a powder room. The entire house has under floor heating which is truly decadent in the cool Irish countryside.
For those of you who wish to leave the house you will find abundant entertainment. There is a gorgeous sand beach just down the road. For the golfers in your group there is a world-class golf course just a few towns over in Lahinch. Also in Lahinch you will find some of the country's best surfing. Fanore is not as renowned for its surfing but does have a surf school every summer. And for those of you music lovers, Doolin is just one town over and is renowned for its traditional Irish music.
In addition Doolin has many incredible restaurants and pubs. And if you need to get out of the countryside and into a city, Galway is just an hour away. It’s a wonderful city. Despite its small size you can find most anything you need there. If you’re looking for a great bottle of Irish Whiskey or an unusual bottle of wine, go to The Vineyard then stop by Sheridan’s Cheesemongers where you will find an amazing selection of cheese from around the world. But for those who wish to explore Fanore, you will find gorgeous scenic walks and some of the best angling in the country. And if you want to see things from s different angle, go horseback riding. You’ll love it.
The house is just up the road from O'Donohue's Pub and a small grocery shop. Both of them are within walking distance.

This home was everything described in the listing! Dierdre was warm and helpful with questions, the property was beautiful, and very clean. Anna, who I assume is the property caretaker, even provided a surprise 65th birthday gift for my husband! The views are extraordinary, and it is a short walk to the nearest restaurant, pub, and a small grocery store. Be sure to take the walk to the beach!
We had someone meet us for checking, which was nice. There were a lot of lables on switches which is helpful in a different setting, although some were worn off and hard to read. We had a problem with heat while there..but the host was attentive and did multiple things to try and fix, they even brought over some wood so we could use the fireplace.A beautiful location and place and a nice quiet relaxing village right down the road. Would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful time at The Stone House! I especially loved all the artwork inside and out in the garden. We enjoyed a couple meals at O'Donohues and explored the Burren and Ballyvaughan. Our stay was April 1-4 and it was COLD... I wish we would have gotten more supplies to keep a fire going the entire time we were in the house because the upstairs was quite cold! But the beds were cozy so we slept well. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! :)
Great ocean views, beautiful decor, a comfortable bed and very warm. What more could one ask for? The pub up the road with a roaring fire and delicious food! I am afraid to go on as we would like to stay in Stone House again! Luckily we love the West of Ireland in the winter and walking the Burren in the peace and quiet so hopefully there will always be room for us. Gary and Sharon
Fabulous stay at the Stone House! Even during storm Amy we were able to admire the force of the Atlantic while staying in the warmth and comfort of this beautiful home! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely space with us!
The Stone House is ln a beautiful location and convenient to explore much of the Ireland "Wild Atlantic Way". Iti is unique in it's design. We felt like it was absolutely even more than we expected. We enjoyed our visit with the owners also. We would highly recommend a stay there if you are able.
The view of the coast at this house is delightful! The locals are amazing and the property was managed very well! Super satisfied with our stay and even thinking about returning in the future
Very comfy house in a stunning location, views for ever.
Comfy bed and lots of space, friendly property manager Anna. A truly stunning part of the world to visit.
Had a very relaxing week in this lovely property in a great location. The place is very comfortable and peaceful - great for opening a bottle of wine and catching up with your reading. The local pub is an easy stroll away and offered a very warm welcome, great beer and excellent food. Our holiday preference is a self-catered property let. We've holidayed like this throughout Europe over the last 30 years, The Stone House would definitely rank highly in our Top 10 of properties we've stayed in over all those years. We were very sad to be leaving - hopefully we'll manage to get back there if Deirdre would be good enough to have us. Da iawn. Diolch yn fawr iawn.
We stayed at the Stone House for 4 nights and hated to leave. We were delighted with everything about the house itself, and the view of the ocean and cows was amazing! Being in the Burren was really wonderful and we visited many of the places recommended by our hosts. The pub down the street had delicious food and we tended to avoid the crowds of Doolin. I can’t recommend this house highly enough and we hope to come back some day.
