Our stay was great, it is an old property with an amazing location and waterfront views. We heard the guests in the house and they were courteous and not too loud. Everything was great and Nicki in the rental office helped us out when we had locked ourselves out of the apartment. We would definitely stay there again!

Love the view! The apartment was well stocked and clean. They are doing some excavating across the bay that woke us at 7am, otherwise it’s a quiet neighborhood. It’s pretty close to Acadia.
The apartment was perfect for our quick trip to MDI. A little bit longer drive to the park and Bar Harbor, but the views and the quiet made it worth it.

Family Vacay to Acadia
Location is great for Park access and you could walk to the little Main Street. Easy Parking and very quiet neighborhood but you do share the building with another family. The ones sharing ours had dogs that barked the entire time they were gone. Property is comfortable but worn. I wouldn't put an adult in the twin beds but the King was very comfortable.

Hi Donna,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We're so glad you enjoyed the convenient location near Acadia and the peaceful neighborhood setting. It’s great to hear the King bed was comfortable and that parking and access to town were easy.

While we don’t always have control over the behavior of other guests, we do have a 24-hour telephone line available specifically to support our tenants if any issues arise during their stay—we encourage guests to reach out so we can assist in real-time.
We also appreciate your comments about the twin beds and overall condition of the property. We’re continually working to improve the space and your insights help us prioritize updates.

Charming cottage in a lovely setting. Blissfully quiet, except for the family renting next door. 😬.

Stunning, quiet, comfortable and overlooking the waterfront
The neighborhood is wonderfully quiet, and the apartment overlooks the northeast harbor. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. It's lovely, clean, spacious and comfortable. Loved the actual wood burning fireplace as it turned cool in the fall.

Hi Linda,
Thank you for the helpful feedback and kind remarks about the great apartment and views. Occasionally kitchen items get displaced between the "Main House" and the "Apartment". I reached out to the caretaker to remedy the situation.

Aunt Hannah's Apartment was clean, charming and had the most extraordinary view! We would most definitely recommend it to friends. There was definitely some confusion in communicating with those who managed the apartment, however everyone was very nice, followed up and in the end it all worked out fine.

We have loved vacationing in Northeast Harbor as a family. However, we didn't know how much more so we would enjoy it being waterside. Aunt Hannah's is about as perfect as it gets for being on the water, watching the tides roll in and out, being in close proximity to the village but also feeling secluded. We loved the historic nature of the property as well. The accommodations were well appointed with what we needed and spacious for a relaxing vacation. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation and plan to stay at the property again...Hopefully next summer!

The views were incredible. The place itself was comfortable for four adults. The two bathrooms were great! We stayed in the fall and there were no nice/comfortable blankets. The only bit of feedback I’d have is the decor and finishes could be updated. But the outdated feel kind of adds to the charm.

The view and location were great. Home was tidy, but randomly unclean and cluttered. Lots of empty packages laying around (listerine bottle, Lysol wipes container, makeup wipes packaging), mouse poop on counters, old food dried onto dishwasher, stained towels. Master bathroom was very clean (except for all the random empty packaging), but guest bathroom felt less clean. Lots of spiders in the house. There is a door in the kitchen that connects to the main house, locked only by a small deadbolt. Moose travels between the main house and apartment easily. Chores you’re asked to do before check-out:- take out trash- strip bedding- start load of linens in washing machine- wash and put away dishes - leave list of things cleaners don’t need to clean

House was great-- just what my wife and I were looking for.
Beautiful historic house which has a unit for rent (which we stayed in), and a large adjoining house which is being renovated and updated. The house has terrific views, is close to Acadia, Bar Harbor... places to eat, hike ...
Mike who maintains the house is an awesome guy, and helped us to get situated, and understand how everything works.

Beautiful property and a perfect spot for a quiet vacation
Everything went as smooth as it could've. We were thrilled with the location and the property of this darling cottage. It's quaint and decorated in a New England antique kind of way. The only down side of the whole week was, the owners rent out the main house as well. And the last 1/2 of our trip, it was rented out to a group of 10 people, who were very loud and partied hard. Only one wooden door divides the house from Aunt Hannah's apt., so we could hear everything from their kitchen right next to ours. We were disappointed that the group wasn't more courteous of their "neighbors" next door.

The setting was absolutely stunning overlooking a cove where we watched the tides change. There is a lovely deck overlooking the water with hydrangea plantings and a small lawn in front.
The living room is comfortable although some of the furniture is quite worn and the lighting could be improved.
We were disappointed with the kitchen because the cooking pots and pans were old and very scratched or rusty and there were no serving bowls. In addition there were only two mugs (the apartment sleeps 4) for coffee, both metal and one was rusty and chipped.
We would like to return if the kitchen supplies are updated.

Hi Alison,
Thank you kindly for your feedback and four-star review of Aunt Hannah's Pasture Apartment. I have shared your suggestions with the owners and they are putting your requests into motion for next season. Occasionally we find these family homes keeping "sentimental" items that may need updating for the general public.
Again, we appreciate your review and are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the stunning views.

5 might stay - lacking supplies.
Our stay was very nice but there were items that many other VRBO and others Include with our stay. There were no bathroom hand towels, wash clothes, only 1 kitchen towel.....also, TP only roll in each bathroom was 1/2 gone, paper towels only had maybe 1/2 roll. There were no additional paper products. Plus the French doors to sit outside and view the bay was so broken I could Not open it. The departure instructions they wanted us to start a load of towel but they did not supply the detergent?

Unique location
Lovely apartment in a spectacular setting.
However it needs some attention. There was a broken light fixture in the kitchen hanging down from ceiling , kept hitting our head on it, bathroom drains run slow, sounds like a water leak under house (we reported), dirty pillows. Water stains on bedroom ceiling, ripped lampshades. Owners belongings in closets and bathroom cabinets (really should be removed). They expect you to strip beds and start laundry upon your exit!!
Why are we paying a cleaning fee then? Listing stated there was a lobster pot and utensils on-site. There were not. Didn’t realize until we returned with lobsters . This can be a spectacular rental but needs some work.

Debbie,
Thank you for your feedback about Aunt Hannah's Apartment. We appreciate your help to make this an even better rental experience for the next guests! I am hoping our on call agent was able to contact the caretaker for the lobster pot snafu. I will certainly pass along your suggestions to the owner.
In regard to the cleaning fee, preparing houses for the same day check out/check results in a bit of a problem with washing/drying time for towels, sheets, etc. For this reason, we ask tenants to strip any used beds and throw in one load of laundry to the washing machine before departing. Deep cleaning and sanitizing floors, bathrooms, vacuuming, etc are left to the crew.
Many thanks for your review, Debbie.
Warm regards,
Marla Jones
This cottage is in the very best of locations with great views, is walking distance to the charming town of Northeast Harbor, and lies very close to all of Acadia’s (Mt. Desert) entrances as well as Bar Harbor.
Having said all of those great things, the actual lodging needs some serious updating.
All the rooms were comfortable, mostly clean, but a bit “rough around the edges” in terms of quality of furnishings, décor, and obvious signs of a lack of upkeep.
Cottage renters should also note that the main house shares a common wall with the cottage which was not truly an issue for (most of) our stay, but being aware of that fact is important.
(Note: We have been told by the realtor handling the payments that a new family member has recently taken on the task of managing and updating the property, so these issues will hopefully be resolved soon.)
Due to the previously mentioned charm and location, we were easily able to “overlook” all of that and enjoyed a delightful four-night stay here. The quiet mornings, watching the tidal action from both decks, sunrises with coffee, and a peaceful, Zen feeling while staying here left us with good memories.
If the items mentioned are taken care of, we would not hesitate to stay here again when visiting Acadia.

I'm happy we choose this place. The property and view were amazing. The unit is bigger than it looks in the pictures. We enjoyed the fire place and they had plenty of wood to use. Sitting on the porch for breakfast was great too. It was an easy drive to all of Acadia and Bar Harbor.
