About this property
Light Oak Leaf Cottage
This lovely spacious home has 2 large bedrooms and 1 smaller bedroom, with 2 full bathrooms. It also features air conditioning for those hot summer days, and a pellet stove (with furnace backup) for those chilly nights. Direct TV and WiFi internet access are available at the cottage. This cottage features an open, inviting floor plan with lots of windows. It has been completely renovated and updated. A beautiful sunroom off the dining area provides a place to relax.
Conveniently located a short drive from Bar Harbor's bustling downtown, this peaceful home sits along the bus route for the Island Explorer free shuttle buses. Leave your car behind, and hop on a bus for a free ride anywhere on Mount Desert Island and into Acadia National Park. Our cottage sits on a large lot surrounded by oak trees, and is within walking distance of the ocean. Several popular campgrounds and lobster pounds are within 1 miles, and sea kayaking rentals are within a mile. Our home is within ten to fifteen minutes from each of the towns on Mt. Desert Island: Somesville, Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Southwest Harbor. All of these towns have their own character, and offer their own unique blend of restaurants, sightseeing, whale watching, arts, community events, mountains for hiking, carriage roads for walking or biking, beaches, parks, lighthouses, sailing, and boat-filled harbors.

About the host
Hosted by Rita and Tom Blair

We are a contractor and a retired CNA. We are native Mainers, and one of us grew up right here in Bar Harbor! We have five children and many grandchildren, all living in Maine.
Why they chose this property
Although one of us grew up here, we both lived off of Mount Desert Island for many years. Buying this property gave us the opportunity to move back home to a place we love.
What makes this property unique
We love the location of our home, close enough to Bar Harbor to access all that it has to offer, but far enough removed to provide us with a peaceful place to come home to at the end of the day. We also love that we can step outside and smell the fresh ocean air, and can hop on the free Island Explorer buses and get anywhere on the Island without taking a car.
