If you're searching for places to stay in the Dana Point area - look no further. Had I booked this condo from the beginning, I could have saved hours looking at and comparing a dozen or more properties from Laguna on down to San Clemente. There is a reason that Headlands has so many 5 star reviews.
This was a week-long vacation in San Diego and Orange County. 3 nights at the Headlands. Me, my husband and two teenage boys.
We arrived after the Sunset - so we did see the views until the morning. The condo is just gorgeous. On par with any 5 star hotel. I did a search for comparable room types at the Ritz Carlton - just up the road. (you can walk to it on the beach) For a "Fireside, Oceanfront Room" with 2 double beds - it is $970 per night. Plus hotel fees, plus parking.... Well over $1000 per night. Here you have so much more and then some.
We used the fireplace each day upon waking - it warmed the room and added a nice, homey touch. The kitchen is fully equipped. And as many other reviews mentioned, has all the essentials you need if you choose to cook. (coffee filters, sugar, salt, spices, oils, vinegars... that sort of thing)
The master bedroom is spacious - closets large. Plenty of room to unpack and sort out our clothing. The smaller room was perfect for our two teenage boys. Comfy beds. Both bedrooms had top quality linens.
Both bathrooms were updated and modern. But the Master bath and shower were to die for. We all couldn't wait to get our showers each day!
The washer and dryer were a plus. Full size and all the supplies were there.
The back deck was wonderful - although we didn't spend much time on it - but enjoyed a few moments in the sun each morning. (it faces east, so you get ample morning sun)
The condo was super clean. I'm really picky about cleanliness - dust and hair left behind really gross me out. I inspected the place thoroughly, and everything was immaculate. I would find something, believe me.
We most enjoyed our mornings on the deck, watching the surfers. We brought two of the high, bar chairs from the rear deck to the front, where my husband and youngest son sat, had coffee, looked through the binoculars (there was a pair there, and we brought one as well) What a way to start a day. Beach chairs, boogie boards, towels - everything is there.
We will be back for sure. It was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Eileen was just a pleasure to work with. Thank you!!!
