The space The Owl’s Nest is a 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 3-level house with a newly-renovated basement. The views from the great room and off the front deck are stunning. The open layout is perfect for preparing meals, dining, hanging out, and enjoying time with family and friends. There is a gas grill and dining table on the back deck as well. If you’re on the porch on a clear evening, don’t forget to look up to the sky… the stars out here are breathtaking! Listen closely and you may be fortunate to hear our home’s namesake echoing through the trees. The main level features a master suite with a separate porch and outdoor sitting area. The en suite features a full-service coffee station so you can enjoy a cup of coffee outside on the porch before ever leaving the bedroom! The upstairs features two bedrooms and one full bathroom. One bedroom offers a queen bed, while the other has a full bed with a twin trundle as well as a twin bunk house-bed that the kids are sure to fight over. This bedroom was designed for children, but also serves as wonderful room for adults! The basement is an awesome entertaining area. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom. There is shuffleboard, air hockey, and room to relax and have a cold beverage. It is a walkout basement with space to hangout outside when the weather is nice. We offer a yoga/meditation area in the rounded front nook so get your Namaste on before hitting the trails or exploring one of the many downtowns in the area. There is high speed internet throughout the house. We have Roku built-in smart TV’s in both the great room and basement. Just use the guest account to log in to your subscriptions and enjoy movies, shows, or a game in the basement while battling it out on the air hockey table.
Guest access We are on 3+ acres, most of which is wooded, but there is a ton of space to explore. There is plenty of parking in the driveway and garage. Guests have full access to the house (grill, washer/dryer, board games, shuffle board, air hockey table, etc...). Don't forget to play Klask!
Other things to note We do have a steep driveway. It does NOT require 4 wheel drive to get up, but we did want to mention it in case you are visiting in the winter months. If there is ice or snow, we recommend parking in the cul-de-sac at the bottom of the drive and walking up. (We know that's not ideal, but... it's good exercise and there's probably a cold beer waiting in the fridge.)

The home was comfortable and well designed for our group staying in the area for our son’s wedding. The setting is beautiful and the owners proactively communicated and were great hosts. Thank you!!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Owl’s Nest! Thank you for taking such great care of our home!
The location, amenities, and cleanliness was on point! Great games for the kids, space to lounge around, and close to Biltmore Estate. We had a blast! Would recommend to anyone!
We had an amazing time at Owls Nest. The home is beautiful and cozy. It is also very family and baby friendly! We stayed with kids ranging from 13 years old to 7 months and the house had everything from an air hockey table for the teenager to a booster seat and pack and play for the baby. It’s about a half hour from Asheville so it’s close to all types of fun shops and cafes. It’s the perfect place to stay with friends or family!
We filled Owl’s Nest with the laughter of kids, the aroma of delicious meals and the love of family as we gathered for meals, games and football. Perfect house to accommodate a group who gathers to share experiences from the days adventures at nearby breweries and hiking trails. Lots of space for everyone to create with the kids, nap, eat and watch TV or put together a puzzle. We will definitely be back this way again to once again spread out in this multi level home nestled in the beautiful mountains of Mars Hill is a quiet area.
Well stocked and very accommodating for our group of 11
Great layout with enough space for our group of 11. The teenagers loved the basement and all of the games at the house. The bedrooms are big and had enough room for air mattresses. The house sleeps 11 but 6-ft tall teens don’t do bunks well. Used yoga room in basement as another bedroom for my 15 year old to have her own space with a twin air mattress. The driveway is steep but wasn’t a problem. Beautiful view. Location is private but convenient to Asheville amenities as well as local hiking spots. Beautiful area. Would definitely stay again.
We had a great time at this property! It was clean and picturesque! The games in the basement were fun and the large dining area was great! We had a full house so part of the family had to use the basement bedroom. Unfortunately, it was during a super cold snap. The basement is nice, but it was freezing, and it was not able to be heated. It was very uncomfortable for that family to sleep even with extra blankets. During any other time of year, I’m sure it would be fine. The communication with the property manager was good, there was just nothing that could be done about it. Otherwise we really enjoyed the house and all it had to offer!
The house was a good size and had plenty of living and dining space. The kitchen was a little small, but trying to fit 10 adults in any size kitchen is hard to do. Our only complaint was that the home really couldn't accommodate 10 adults unless everyone was part of a couple. There was one king bed and 3 queens and two twins. We had two single adults and there was no way they could fit in the two twin beds. Luckily we brought an air mattress which accommodated one of the single people. There were plenty of towels, and blankets and we also brought some with us. It was a little cold in the house but we finally figured out the heating system and ultimately we were very comfortable. The owners are very conscientious recyclers and we liked that a lot! We had one beautiful rainy day where we just hung out and played games. Very nice getaway for a family vacation.
We had a group of family members that ranged in age from 1 to 88. The set up of the house worked well for us. We were able to put the 88 years old in the master bedroom on the main floor so he didn't have to do stairs. There is a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. It would have been helpful to have a gate at the top of the stairs also since that's where the "family" bedroom is. We slept on the queen bed upstairs and thought the mattress was very comfortable. My sister and brother-in-law slept in the basement and didn't think that mattress was comfortable. Apparently someone has walked off with most of the regular teaspoons. There are plenty of knives, forks and tablespoons but I only saw 2 regular size spoons and a sugar spoon. Overall, the house is very spacious and very nice. My father has short term memory loss and a few times he commented on it being "quite a house." The kids enjoyed playing with the games and toys that are there. That's a nice touch. Our 4 year old grandson liked the jacuzzi tub. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in the Asheville area.
Three couples and 3 kids under 3 stayed at this property. It was a perfect set up for us. It felt very safe for our kids to play on the main floor. The location was very convenient for a wedding that we attended as well as many great hikes in the area. Our stay was very comfortable. Would highly recommend this home for all ages!
Beautiful Vacation Home for Family Trip to Western, NC
Our family enjoyed our trip to Western, NC and loved the accommodations at the Owl's Nest. Our travel group included 3 children and they loved the upstairs bedroom and gameroom in the basement. There was plenty of room for our group of 9 to spread out across the 4 bedrooms. The views from the home are absolutely gorgeous. The host was very responsive before and during our trip. The home was only a 25 minute drive to the Biltmore which was very convenient. Would highly recommend.
The Owls Nest was the absolutely perfect place for my family to stay for our Daughters wedding. We were only 3 miles from the beautiful new venue Delaney Ridge which made wedding prep so much easier. Our 4 year old twin grandsons couldn’t even begin to contain their excitement about the family bedroom with bunk beds and a play space / teepee. We had plenty of space for the adults. Aaron was a wonderful host quickly answering any questions I had regarding the property after we booked.
This home was perfect for us! Bedrooms had nice separation. Kitchen and living area were the perfect space for us to play games and enjoy celebrating our parents 50th anniversary. The game room downstairs was a perfect opportunity for the kids to play and have their own time together while the adults could play games and converse. The house had extras like dishwashing detergent, dishwashing detergent, and trash bags/ziplocks/aluminum foil and other spices. The home had some of the most beautiful rhododendron bushes which we were lucky enough to see in prime season.
The home was about a 20 minute drive to Asheville which was not bad. Mars Hill has a cute downtown with a beautiful University campus. We did not eat out anywhere in the town as we had already planned dinners at home. We did eat lunch at different breweries and had fun visiting them. The weather didn’t allow us to do any hikes we would have liked, but it gave us the opportunity to stay in the home and spend time together. We brought our solo fire pit with us (they do have one there) and they also had about 8 outdoor camping chairs.
The road up to the house was not steep however the driveway was. It was fun to walk up and down with the kids for exercise! That being said, it was wet all weekend but we had no trouble navigating the driveway with any of the cars!
All in all, if I have the opportunity…I would stay at the Owl’s Nest again!
We had a fun weekend with family exploring Asheville and the Biltmore. Your home is precious and just the right space to spread out for sleep but also gather for food, games and fun. Thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven with us.
Our group enjoyed this house a lot. After 2 years of covid, it was nice to see 11 people gathered around the dining room table laughing and sharing. Our group enjoyed a day at Wolf Ridge for skiing as well as a day exploring Asheville. We will book with property again in the future!
Great place to stay! Kids had their own room, and loved it. Game room was a hit. Very steep driveway so we are glad it didn’t snow! Overall, great vacation!
This is a very beautiful home in a secluded beautiful wooded setting. The owner was great with communicating during the entire process. I would definitely stay here again if I visit the area.
Thank you for a great stay.
