Unwind in this year-round lakefront home on a secluded bay in northern Wisconsin. This home has three bedrooms (plus third floor loft with two twin beds) so easily sleeps 8, and has three and a half baths. Two roll-away beds are also accessible on site. There is an open concept kitchen and living area with bonus downstairs living/rec room. The home equipped with central AC and heat, 2-car garage and laundry room.
Fish off the dock, enjoy the northwoods from the wrap-around porch, or start a campfire right by the lake. Included are a fishing boat with small motor, fishing poles and tackle, canoe, and kayak. Please note swimming off of the dock is possible, but NOT optimal as the bay is shallow and weedy. We usually float away from shore on tubes or swim off of the pontoon.
Our pontoon boat is available for an additional fee ($100/night or $500 per week). It’s a 20-foot “Suntanner” pontoon, 2000 model with 10-person seating, 60hp motor, padded sun deck and sun canopy.
The home is 4 miles from downtown Tomahawk (or 20 minutes by boat!). Located on Lake Mohawksin, 40 minutes from Wausau and Minocqua. Tomahawk is a full-service town with many parks, restaurants, and shops. It is easy drive from Timms Hill, the high point of the state, the Harrison Hills ATV area, and many cross-country ski trails. It is also a certified snowmobile-friendly city. The house is less than 1/2 mile from the snowmobile trail crossing on Sunset Point Rd.
The Pad is a perfect getaway for family gatherings, fishing trips, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, ice fishing and anyone wishing to enjoy the outdoors all year long!

A perfect getaway yet close enough to Tomahawk for shopping and dining. The hosts have been excellent to work with and the property was exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend!
Best VRBO we have stayed at. Pet friendly, large house, clean with updated amenities. No need to leave. Great fishing and water access. Pontoon rental available. Owner quick to respond. Thanks for renting your gorgeous home.
We had a great stay at Schaefer's Pad! Check in was very easy as communication prior to arrival was very detailed. We enjoyed the spacious interior and great deck in a nice secluded area. Game room downstairs was a plus! Kitchen had everything we needed and even some items that were not expected. Would recommend to anyone staying in this area.
Property was exactly as described and lots of room for everyone. Beautiful home to get away with the family and enjoy time outdoors on the pontoon or watching all the wildlife. Communication with owner was great!
We had a great time at the cabin. Everything was very clean and as advertised, cabin was better then the pictures show! Great cabin and use of the pontoon and fishing boat was an extra bonus. Would highly recommend!
Spent a couple of nights at Schaefer’s Pad in late December. The home is beautiful - uniquely designed and offers plenty of space for families. The fact that we could bring our dogs was an added bonus. I highly recommend this home for anyone looking to spend time in the Tomahawk area.
We enjoyed our stay at the Schaefer home while we were in the area visiting family during the winter months. The home was fully furnished and served as our gathering spot for meals and gatherings. We would like to return in the summer when we could enjoy sitting on the decks and fishing in the lake. Enjoying fires in their fire pit near the lake would really be fun too.
Spent a week with part of our family and in-laws. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy some good company. Always a bonus to bring our dogs along as well. Fish weren’t biting but maybe next time!
We had a great time at Schaeffers pad. Beautiful house and very very clean and well kept.We enjoyed lots of fires at the fire pit and went out on the lake fishing and swimming. Plenty of room Mike was very good host. I would recommend it to others.
The property was clean and the location was perfect. We were planning on snowmobiling but Mother Nature didn’t cooperate. We improvised and went ice fishing and supported the economy.
Schaefers Pad was perfect for our family with bedroom/bathroom combos on three different floors. There was everything we needed including a well stocked kitchen. The mudroom and garage were good places to store all our gear. Rent the pontoon- so fun for exploring the lake! Great communication with the host.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place. Michael was very helpful for any questions we had. We were thankful for his help in checking to see how the facility would work for my husband’s handicapped needs.
We will definitely plan a return trip.
Thank you for a great time.
Property was great. Fishing was OK, bait shop right down the street. Caught a couple small Northern, but overall the experience was great, small portion of the lake you hit some dead heads (underwater trees) but the boat was nice and manageable. Overall great time.
