Wonderful! Relaxing, quiet, spectacular sunsets. Morning coffee outside on the deck listening to the quiet motion of the river. Very comfortable home with everything we needed.
The house was just as pictured and very clean. Well-equipped met all our needs! Communication with holly and caretaker excellent! Loved all the artwork throughout the house. Notice something every day. We had a very enjoyable time and enjoyed exploring the surrounding towns.
We loved our stay at Starboard Cove. Communicating with Holly was easy and she was very accommodating. The house, location and view are beautiful. We spent so much time on the screen porch watching the ground hogs, deer, chipmunks and eagles. We had some rainy days so the finished basement with games and the billiard table was perfect. The house was well stocked. We would definitely stay again!

Thank you April We love knowing that Starboard Cove helps make family memories.
This house on Starboard Cove is a wonderful escape. The kitchen is fully appointed and spacious; there are several 'living rooms" to enjoy a good book - either one that you brought or one from the amazing selection on the house shelves. The outdoor space allows for great entertaining. A stay in this home is more like a visit to a friend's house - fully decorated and interesting. Communicating with Holly was easy and quick.

These guests were incredibly understanding when We had a large tree fall in the yard and a screen door that malfunctioned. We would be happy to host them again in the future.
Holly’s home is spacious & well supplied. Located in a beautiful peaceful private area overlooking the tidal river with a deck, patio & screened porch, there is much to enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is a great gas grill on the patio. Access to the river was a bit of a challenge, as it is steep & quite a balancing act to get a kayak or paddleboard into the water. The water is calm and lovely near the dock, but only deep enough to use for a couple of hours before and after high tide.

Beautiful Home!
The house is beautiful and is quiet and secluded with fabulous views everywhere you look! Great place to sit and relax. We had 2 teenagers with us who had plenty of room to toss the football around and they loved the basement (they never turned the tv on). They even put down the phones and pulled out Monopoly on a couple of stormy nights (lots of games supplied). It is well stocked and there is a nice little grocery nearby with great people. You are about 20 minutes from Portsmouth and major roads for day trips. There were some issues with appliances and outlets, but the owners contacted us about repairing them. Our only disappointment was the fishing, good for kids to catch little ones, but for serious fishermen, dock not far enough out to cast into channel for blues and stripers.

Peaceful , relaxing, beautiful setting
We decided to take a family vacation in Me. There were 7 of us and a toddler and we had plenty of room. The house is so interestingly decorated. On day 6 I was still discovering something new. What a wonderful area. It is so close to just about anything you could want to do. We would not hesitate to rent this property again while visiting Me.

A Wonderful Week by the Water in Maine
What a wonderful house! Our group was made up of people between 7 and 80 years of age and everyone had a great time. The site was enchanting: the river, the landscaping, the sunsets, the hammock! The deck and patio area is a great place to sip a second cup of coffee in the morning or for cocktail hour when everyone gathers for the evening. The pool table served well while the screened porch area was used for everything from a fancy birthday meal to challenging scrabble matches. Our long days were rewarded with exceptionally comfortable beds. The house itself is beautiful with just a touch of whimsy and charming art pieces throughout. We definitely want to return someday!

Serenity
I have vacationed in Maine many times but this was my first stay in Eliot. What a beautiful area for relaxing. The house is spectacular and very comfortable. The views are beautiful from all around the home. We enjoyed many sunrises and sunsets from the dock and the deck. It is also a great area for biking and kayaking to take in the local sights at a slower speed. Portsmouth is a short drive when you want nightlife but we always were glad to come back. We hope to return soon.

The home we vacationed in for 7 days was fabulous, breathtaking view of the lake and sunsets
The home was exactly as detailed, spacious rooms, comfortable and quiet area, screened in porch was wonderful to have meals in, and watch the sun go down. The home has a nice library of old movies, sit back with popcorn and enjoy. Nice for boating and easy access to all areas, ie, York Zoo, Kittery shops, Wells Antique shops, Wild Willies Hamburgers to die for in York. Great antique shops along Route 1. Kennebunkport- wonderful place to walk around. The caretaker was very pleasant and hospitable. Great house to vacation. Property well groomed. Owners were easy to work with. Plenty of things to do while on vacation here. Had a great time and would come back. Beautiful area, what a great place to come. It was hard to leave.

blissful setting
As we prepare to leave your special home I carry with me so many wonderful memories and such a sense of peace. I will miss hearing the roosters in the morning and all the other sounds of nature that add to the serenity of this magical place. The tides, the morning and evening skies, and the changing light all make this a truly wondrous setting. Your sense of elegance and whimsy create a feeling of relaxation immediately. Usually it takes several days for me to shift into vacation mode but as soon as I walked into your home it was instantaneous. Every room has its own character with loving attention to detail. Your sense of color and design is a feast for the eyes.

Everything you need!
This house has everything you need for a wonderful, relaxing stay. The sunsets are indeed breathtaking. The chef in our group was impressed with the extent of supplies in the kitchen and we all enjoyed our meals in the screened-in porch. The only negative about our stay is that we had to leave.

Nice, private riverside location with great views
Although we took rides to local attractions like Kittery, York Beach and Ogunquit, we spent most of our time just hanging on the property which was secluded and relaxing. The river views both inside and outside were amazing. The only reason we did not give this property 5 stars was that the property itself was in need of a little upkeep. However, we brought this to the attention of the owners who appreciated the feedback, and were already in the process of making changes and upgrades. With a little TLC, we would definitely consider staying here again.

Spectacular View
We had a great time in Maine and were delighted by your wonderful home and tranquil setting. The home was well equipped and had a very welcoming atmosphere. The scenery was beautiful and the views from the master bedroom spectacular. It was really conducive to sharing time with our family. I couldn't have picked a better setting. The pictures on the website were lovely but the experience of being on the river in a very private setting and lovely accomodations was even better. We especially enjoyed our dinners on the screened in porch. We will definitely recommend your home to our friends and family and hope to get back to Maine for another vacation. We stayed in this lovely home in August 2009. It wasn't like a rental; it was like being a guest in someone's treasured home. The owners greated us to show us every detail of the home. We had every thing we needed for cooking. There were so many reading and relazing nooks. And the art, books and movies made the place so enjoyable. Our kids loved all the games, toys, the pool and ping pong table and waterfront with kayaks and canoes. It was truly a vacation!

We have rented many vacation homes over the years, and River Cottage is a true exeption. And the owners are generous, accoommodating and delightful people. What a find!

Both left corporate life early on to peruse their passions. In addition to the home in Maine they also have homes in Mexico that are occasionally for rent or for home exchanges on well known online platforms. Why they chose this property
We honestly feel this is the most beautiful and best location to live in the US. The peace and serenity living on the water this close to major cities is hard to find. We travel alot so being an hour from Boston's International Airport is great. We have the benefit of being on the water, minutes from the Atlantic ocean and less than an hour to skiing or hiking in the mountains.
What makes this property unique
It is very important to both of us that we are in touch with nature every day. Living in this home does that for us. The many large windows that open to decks and balconeys bring the outdoors in. We also have a large screened porch where we literally live in the summer months. We take all of our meals there and sometimes sleep there. Wildlife is abundant in the area keeping every day exciting.
