There are two fire pit areas. One is level and located behind the cabin near a picnic table. The lakeside fire pit has beautiful views but sits on a slightly rocky slope.

Insect repellent is recommended. This is a cabin in the woods on a lake.

Two Ring doorbell cameras are located at the front and rear entrances of the cabin only. They are not actively monitored and are used for security and check-in verification.

There are no cameras inside the cabin, at the dock, lakeside, or near the outdoor shower.

We had a great time at this cabin. We found it to be extremely relaxing and just what we needed before our crazy back to school/sports schedule. We did a lot of fishing off the dock, cruising around the calm waters in the canoe, camp fires and just chilling. The location is remote and not close to many restaurants/shopping locations however we didn't mind that at all. We came prepared with all our food that we needed. Overall great place to relax and just get away.

Weekend stay

This was a trip for a baseball tournament so we didn't get to take advantage of the property to it's full extent but it was a lovely stay. Amazing communication with the hosts who were very accommodating. This was also one of the best stocked and family friendly places we have rented!

We had a fantastic time staying at this cabin. The location is remote and private, the fishing was great right off the dock, plenty of room for parking. I will say the loft is a bit tricky to get up to and the showers are not the greatest (hard to find the hot water position).

Our stay at "Make a Mistake Cabin" was no mistake. It was perfect. Driving through the winding roads and arriving at a quiet cove of Lake of the Ozarks, we arrived at the nicely-appointed, stocked, and well-kept cabin. Each day we awoke to see wildlife outside either side of the cabin, walked down the path to the large covered dock, watching fish jump all over the cove. In the 10 days there we caught over 70 fish, including several that were 2-5 pounds...bass, bluegill, crappie, drum, and catfish. Our boys kayaked and explored both creeks (to the near left and far left of the dock) for days. Our hosts communicated well and timely with us. The only issue we ran into was a microwave that stopped working, which the hosts replaced the very same day by delivery. We also tried local places to eat around Roach, Camdenton, and Osage Beach. No "mistake" about it... staying there was exactly what we needed. We made a lot of wonderful memories there...and would highly recommend to all.

Great Getaway

We had a wonderful stay at this little cabin! We enjoyed exploring the property in addition to our time spent on the lake. It had everything we needed and accommodated our group of 7 (plus 2 dogs) well. The kayaks and lily pad were a big bonus. It was a great way to slow down and reconnect with nature after the last few months spent at the ball fields!

Fall Family Cabin Stay

Stayed in the cabin with 4 adults and 4 kids plus a dog. The cabin was wonderful. Clean, accommodating and furnished with everything you could need. The wifi works well. The dock and the lake are so amazing. The dock is large enough to allow the adults to sit while watching the children enjoy the Lilly pad and kayaks. We hiked in the woods and explored the creek. The location was remote and very relaxing. Would highly recommend!

Quiet & Relaxing

Enjoyed the stay over all. Well furnished and well stocked with cooking items. The boat house at end of quiet cove was great for watching wildlife - deer, bald eagles, white pelicans, Canadian geese and of course jumping bass 😁. The only issue we had with the property was lack of task lighting (bedside lamps) and the lack of back deck to enjoy a morning of watching wildlife while drinking our morning coffee.

Wonderful cabin with great amenities

This cabin paired with the location was perfect. The hosts have thought of everything when it comes to things needed inside the house. It also has its own private dock at the end of a cove that can’t be matched. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with an updated place to stay, this is it. The hosts are responsive and are willing to take care of their guests anyway they can. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals at both Tablerock and Beaver, but this one has been by far the best.

Perfect cabin in a great location!

This is a great property. It had everything we were looking for - nice, clean, and with great amenities. We hiked the creek and spent time on the dock swimming and using the kayak. The secluded location was good for us, so the kids could be in the water without worrying about boater traffic. We only saw a couple jetskis and boats across the lake from us so the kids could be out in the kayak. We will definitely book it the next time we are in Lake of the Ozarks!

Nice secluded part of the lake. The boating dock is a lot of fun for families in the more shallow water. Its quiet and peaceful with occasional atv on land. Great place to observe wildlife and kayak doen the river and lake. Cabin is small as expected but it had everything we needed for great meals and to bake. The wifi was good to watch movies and plsy some video games. Overall it was a good fathers day get away.

Labor Day weekend get away

My wife and 3 children ranging from 5, 7, and 10 had a blast over the weekend. Even tho we had to set up camp in the rain we were able to make a good time out of it. We enjoyed camping, fishing, bonfires, exploring, catching lizards, being and to just being away from normal busy life and spenting it with each other over a fire cooked meal. I'd highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for the real deal camping experience and not the run of the mill "campsites". It reminded me of being out in the wilderness but also feeling like we were back home at our pervious lake house.. we loved it! Thank you guys again!

Beautiful remote location, bad for bugs

There are a lot of pros to the "Make A Mistake" cabin, including location (gorgeous and remote), ease of check-in, ease of communication with host when isues arrise (they respond relatively quickly), privacy, kitchen suplies, and outdoor ammenities. This is the perfect rustic bunkhouse situation for a large family or chosen-family gathering if you are looking to be off the beaten path. Cons: The water heater didn't keep up with the needs of the 4 adults in the cabin-- 4 showers per day, one load of dishes. There was no hot water when I tried to bathe or rinse off my baby. We ran out of toilet tissue on day 2 and had to run 40 mins to town to get some as there was a delay in the host's supply delivery (to their credit, the host is not responsible for the delivery delay). We also had a wasp infestation in the main bedroom. We counted at least 8 wasps in the corner of the room, which were dicovered when they stung our 15 month old daughter while she was napping. When we contacted the host about our concerns, they asked if we saw a nest and claimed no one else had mentioned wasp problems. This was the only situation where the host was not helpful at all. We understand things happen, especially in cabins, yes/and if things happen while you visit it's best to keep expectations in check. Be prepared to be self-sufficient.

We are a military family of 7 and reside in St. Louis. We love getting away from our busy life and enjoying nature. We found a place to swim, camp, hike and wander that we hope to buildup over the years! When our kids have sports on weekends, we don't come to the lake so happy to share it with you!

Why they chose this property

We visited the Lake of the Ozarks in September 2020 and just two weeks later put an offer on over 40 acres of undeveloped lakefront property. With so many unpredictable events happening in 2020 & 2021, finding a place for our family to come together and find a simpler life is the goal. A place to visit for a weekend and just focus on what is important during these unpredictable times. But still build a safe haven for togetherness and adventure for generations to come. I can't imagine a better place to count our blessings, love our family and hope for our future!

Since we both still work full-time in St. Louis, we share our special place on weekends and weekdays when we can not be there.

What makes this property unique

Privacy, beautiful quiet side of lake with 42 Acres to explore that includes a year round creek. Our property includes 1,000 feet of shoreline allowing for a more secluded feeling. With our water being only 3 feet, we feel it's the perfect depth for kids to play, to jump in for a cool off and fishing! Wade through the water towards Bollinger Creek for a special experience with buffs, swimming holes, clear cold water and wildlife!
