About this property

Quite and peaceful cottage in the country.

The "Cottage of Walland" as we call it, has over 1800 sq. ft. of living space. 1224 upstairs and 612 down stairs. There is a very comfortable living room, a full kitchen, den/tv room, work space and acres of outside foothills scenery. There is a beautiful view of Chilhowee Mt. and lots of farm land beauty. The living room, kitchen, dining room, washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms are on the main level of the house. Downstairs has a den/tv room and 1 bedroom with a work space. You can enjoy sitting inside while reading, watching tv or just relaxing in this quite country setting. Or you can spend your time outside on the 3 acres that it is located on, enjoying the scenery and possibly watching the wild life. Sitting on the back deck is my favorite here! There is a beautiful view of the foothills of the Smokies along with the farmland that surrounds this property. You can possibly see, deer, eagles, raccoon, turkey, coyote and more. There is plenty of room to play frisbee, volleyball, throw football, baseball or a game of cornhole. There is a fire pit to roast hot dogs or marshmallows, or you can just sit and listen to the fire pop and crackle in the moonlight. A charcoal grill will also be available. Biking is also a popular activity in this area. Old Walland highway is a much biked road and just a couple miles away. All the surrounding major city's are within a 20-25 minute drive including, Pigeon Forge (25), Sevierville (20), Knoxville (Downtown, south or west) (20), Maryville/Alcoa (20), Townsend (20), Cades Cove (25), Seymour (10) Gatlinburg (40). Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and lots of eatery's within 10-15 mins.

Nice, clean place to stay

We had a great experience. When we walked in, we were so impressed with how clean, fresh, & inviting this rental was. The owner responded to us within a very reasonable amount of time. We enjoyed being away from the hustle & bustle of the city, but it did take about 30 minutes to get into Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We had plenty of room there. The main suggestion that I had was for there to be a bathroom downstairs. There are 2, but they're both upstairs. The shower in the master bed bathroom was very small & the shower head was very high. Other than that, I definitely would recommend this rental!

About the host

Host profile image
We have lived in this area most all our life. I am a commercial/Industrial builder by trade and wood craftsmen/musician/fisherman/golfer (and a few more things) for hobby's by night and weekends. I am a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. We love the outdoors and quite mountain life which is one reason we have this property.

Why they chose this property

This property is centrally located to just about every city in the area. It sits in the middle of about 10 different city's. You can do business in Knoxville during the day and run to the Smoky Mountains for dinner that night and never be far from the property. Or do daily business in Alcoa/Maryville and be at the attractions in Pigeon Forge after a long day in just a few minutes from the house.

What makes this property unique

The property sits off the road away from traffic so you and your family/friends can have a quite evening to sit around and chat or early morning cup of coffee in a peaceful setting. There is about a 400 foot long front yard ( about the size of a football field) for kids to play in. There is plenty of room to throw ball, run, play tag or whatever you like without disturbing neighbors (except us :-) ) Your closest neighbor is about 200 yards away.
