Had a wonderful time. This property was perfect for us. Great location!! Great hosts and clean. Can’t wait to return! All appliances worked as expected. Perfect first VRBO experience.
We loved the week we spent here! It’s conveniently located and check-in was easy. There’s so much to do and we enjoyed walking the trails to the lake. Every time we come to the White Mountains we find new things to explore.

Thank you so much, Joe! We’re so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and were able to take advantage of everything the White Mountains and North Conway have to offer. We love the quiet location and having hiking and so many activities right nearby too. It was a pleasure having you, and we’d be happy to welcome you and your family back anytime!
Lovely little cabin that was perfect for our small family. Very close to North Conway and steps from hiking trails. We went on a walk through the woods with our 4 year old to the small lake beach, which was clean, chill and beautiful under the mountains. Our son keeps asking if we can go back to see it again in the winter!

Thank you so much, Lara! I’m so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay and got to explore the trails and lake. I love that your son is already asking to come back in the winter! 😊 We’d be very happy to have you all back!
Perfect Location!!! Beautiful chalet and a great view of the mountain cliff near by. Convenient walking and hiking trails right out your front door with a trail right to Echo lake. I highly recommend this liating. Communications were seamless.
The space was great for a small group of friends. Having close access to major attractions and roadways was a big plus. The grill and fire pit are nice also. The property conditions including the guests making their own beds (fitted sheet, sheets, pillowcases), doing dishes, taking sheets off beds, and then driving trash to another locked dumpster on a different person’s property (who stared at us out their windows confused) was a bit perturbing though.

Thank you for your feedback, Em. We’re glad you enjoyed the space, location, fire pit, grill, cleanliness, and convenient access to the area’s attractions.
We did want to clarify a few points for future guests. We began leaving freshly laundered linens for guests to make their own beds during covi d, and it has worked very well for us and our guests. We’ve continued this practice intentionally so guests can be assured that the linens provided for their stay are fresh and clean. This is also noted in our property description prior to booking.
The home does not have a dishwasher, so we do ask guests to wash any dishes they use during their stay.
We’d also like to clarify the comment regarding trash. As stated in our listing and guest instructions, our private dumpster is located just down the road at another property that we own. Guests are not being asked to dispose of trash on someone else’s property.
We understand that every property may not be the right fit for every guest, which is why we disclose these details in our listing so guests know what to expect before booking. We appreciate you staying with us and are glad you enjoyed many aspects of the home and the area.
Steve’s has a party of 5, and the listing accurately states it sleeps up to 6. There is one bedroom downstairs with a queen bed and a loft upstairs with two full-size beds, as clearly outlined in the description and shown in the pictures. The photos accurately depict the home. Leaving a negative review due to the sleeping arrangements is unfortunate, especially since the renter must not have read the property description.
Very cozy and nicely located. We had a great time and looking forward to go back in warmer weather.

This a good location for hikers. However, the property needs some repairs and safety work. The railing at the entry was loose- the nails were pulled out. The loft stairs have no railing- it’s like a ladder. One of the lights in the loft didn’t work. There were no directions on the air conditioners and needed to be plugged in - then no place to charge a phone- and there is a reset button that had to be pushed. The sliding door sticks. YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN BED! That is absolutely ridiculous! Especially in the loft when the eave beams almost touch the bed. The sheets were just rolled in a heap on each bed. Using Covid as an excuse is ridiculous- it’s been over 5 years!AND we needed to strip all the beds and put downstairs. The towels were also in the loft so you had to carry them down the stairs without a railing. There is no place to hang the towels when wet, the single towel rack is above the toilet paper. The bathroom is very tiny. The place could use a deep cleaning: the wood stove glass was completely dirty (I am sure it hasn’t been used since winter or spring- we were there in late September). There were many cobwebs. We actually left a day early.

Thank you for the note on the location. We are sorry the stay did not match what you wanted, and we want future guests to have an accurate picture of this house.
This is a small 800-square-foot A-frame, loft included. The bathroom is compact, and both the bathroom and the loft beds are shown in the listing photos, including how close the loft mattresses sit to the beams and the sloped ceiling. The loft is reached by enclosed stairs. There is not enough width for a handrail, and the accessibility section of the listing does not show a stair handrail as a feature. That layout is visible before booking.
Clean sheets are left neatly folded on each bed, not rolled or heaped. We have done it this way for years, since we first owned the house, so guests can see the linens are fresh and the bed has not been slept in. It is not a Covid policy, and this is the first complaint we have had about it. Checkout asks guests to strip the beds and leave used linens and towels in a pile downstairs. That is normal for a same-day turnover and keeps the cleaning fee from being passed on at a higher rate.
Your stay was September 29 to October 1, when nights are already cold. The window air conditioners are left in place for the occasional warm, sunny day, which can heat this house quickly. They are not normally used this time of year, and the previous guest had most likely unplugged them. They simply need to be plugged in. There are no separate charging stations for phones. The house has ordinary outlets throughout, and we do not supply phone chargers. Guests need to bring their own. The loft light was not out. The switch is at the bottom of the stairs, and we would have pointed that out if we had been asked.
The house is on a wooded lot. We treat for insects and have the exterior cobwebs cleared several times a year. Our cleaner checks the interior at each turnover. Any cobweb noted here was on the exterior soffit, not inside. The calendar for this property is fully booked, so the suggestion that the house has sat empty since winter or spring is not correct. The wood stove is a seasonal fireplace, and we will have the glass wiped on the next turnover.
The loose entry railing was news to us. This review, and the photo with it, is the first we have heard of it. We have already asked our handyman to repair it. We also messaged during the stay to ask how things were going, when we noted a mason would be on site on departure. Nothing about the railing, a light, the slider, the air conditioners, or cleanliness was mentioned, so none of it could be fixed while you were here. With more than 350 reviews, communication is one of the scores guests consistently rate us highly on. If something needs attention, we fix it when we are told.
We are glad the location worked for hiking. Please message us during the stay if anything safety-related comes up so we can handle it before checkout.
Convenient to North Conway, very clean, and quiet location. Definitely a great place for a couple to stay, but the loft steps are steep to the second bedroom. We found the listing photos to be nicer compared to the actual cabin. For the money we spent, we expected a rental to be little more updated.
Peaceful retreat in a cozy and clean chalet. Hosts were prompt to respond to inquiries and their listing of the property was accurate. Close to all the North Conway attractions but far enough away to experience the tranquil New Hampshire vibe at the foot of cathedral ledge. It was an ideal spot for me to stay solo while visiting friends nearby.I’d highly recommend this spot.
Place was very nice and what I expected for a cabin. It's kinda small so if your looking to spend a while there with four adults you may be cramp. The loft would be really cool for kids though. Overall we were very happy with our experience.
Welcome to our peaceful year-round chalet in North Conway – a cozy retreat nestled directly beneath the stunning Cathedral Ledge. We’re Chris and Pam, married 20+ years, with twin teenage boys who keep us laughing (and moving). We love skiing and snowmobiling in winter, but every season here feels like home. Summer might be our best-kept secret: trails start right outside the door, it’s a 10-minute walk through the woods to the sandy beach at Echo Lake, and the deck offers a front-row seat to rock climbers tracing lines up the cliff that towers over the house. Winter is pure magic too – Cranmore is five minutes away, bigger mountains and snowmobile trails are an easy drive, and the snow turns the neighborhood into a hushed wonderland. After a day outside we come home, kick off boots, light the big wood-burning fireplace, and watch the light shift across the ledge ledge from the living room windows. The chalet is small, warm, and deliberately simple – wood walls, soft blankets, a cozy living room perfect for board games or quiet evenings, and that jaw-dropping full view of Cathedral Ledge from the deck and most rooms. It’s the place our family unwinds and reconnects, no matter the season. We love welcoming families who want adventure steps from the door yet come home to real calm. Guests leave rested, already dreaming of their next trip – powder days in winter or lake swims and climber-watching in summer. Come make your own memories here, any time of year. The ledge is always waiting. Can’t wait to welcome you, Chris, Pam & the twins
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood for one overwhelming reason: the first time we saw Cathedral Ledge towering directly over these quiet houses, we knew we’d never love any place more. It’s impossibly rare to find a spot that feels this dramatic yet this peaceful. The cliff rises hundreds of feet right above the rooftops, filling every window and deck with a view that stops conversation. Watch the sunrise paint it pink, spend afternoons spotting tiny climbers inching up the face, or sit with coffee while ravens surf the updrafts at eye level. In twenty-plus years, that view has never once gotten old. Then there’s the quiet. This little loop is tucked away—no through traffic, no noise from Route 16, just tall pines and the soft echo of the ledge. Trails start at the edge of the yard; Echo Lake’s sandy beach is a ten-minute walk through the woods. Cranmore is five minutes by car, yet you feel completely removed from the bustle. We wanted a home where we could step outside and instantly be in the mountains, then come back to true calm at the end of the day. This neighborhood gives us both: adventure out the door and total serenity the moment we pull in the driveway. Every time we turn onto the road and the ledge appears, we still get that same quiet thrill we felt the very first day. Some places just feel like they were waiting for you. This one was waiting for us. Chris & Pam
What makes this property unique
It’s the only place we’ve ever found where a 300-foot granite cliff feels like it’s part of the living room.
Full, unobstructed view of Cathedral Ledge from the deck and almost every window. You wake up to it, eat dinner watching climbers on the face, and fall asleep with moonlight on the rock. Trails out the door: 5 minutes to the base of the cliff, 10 minutes through the woods to Echo Lake’s sandy beach and state park. No driving required. Dead-quiet, tucked-away neighborhood yet Cranmore is 5 minutes away and North Conway village 7–8. You get total peace without isolation. The house sits in the sweet spot: close enough to feel the presence of the ledge, far enough back that it’s private and serene (no road noise, no crowds). Year-round magic: winter snow turns it into a hushed bowl, spring waterfalls tumble off the cliff, summer swimming and climbing are steps away, fall foliage explodes against the rock.
Most homes in North Conway have mountain views. This one has the mountain itself standing guard over it, and you can walk right up and touch it. That combination simply doesn’t exist anywhere else. That’s why, after 20+ years, we still catch our breath every single time we pull in the driveway. Chris & Pam
