Great space, large rooms, cold AC in rooms, slightly warm but might have just all the people we had in the downstairs rooms. Lots of seating inside and out, quiet, but very close to groceries etc. I recommend!
This house is beautiful and had everything we need. The kitchen is full stocked with utensils and small appliances. The game room is a blast! The five bedrooms are very spacious and the three full bathrooms are luxurious and stylish. One small thing is the shower of the 2nd floor hallway bathroom needs to be fixed. The owner's gift in the fridge was the favorite. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend!
The house is so comfortable and relaxing! Everything is fully stocked with everything you need. All the beds are very comfortable and cozy. The owner is accommodating and sweet! We loved our stay and will be back😊
Myself and a couple of colleagues stayed here while we were working in Harrisonburg for three weeks. Enjoyed our stay and Mary was great to work with. Much better than staying in a hotel for that amount of time.
The house had all the amenities you could need. It was very homey and they even had a Christmas tree set up which was a lovely surprise in December. It was super clean and tidy as well. The beds were super comfortable, and it's right on the creek which is really lovely. Honestly one of the best rental experiences I've had! I hope to rent here again in the future. :)
We had a family gathering to visit a niece at JMU! The house was great location to get to Harrisonburg and had plenty of space for 8 adults! Thanks for the fresh eggs (special touch!)

Fun family Vaca House
Clean and well stocked kitchen. Beds were all comfy! Air conditioning had upstairs freezing and downstairs muggy. We had a blast fishing and playing with the dogs in the river!playing with g
Mary was excellent host. House was clean and plenty of kitchen items. Spacious with the BEST bed mattresses! Coming back for round #2 in October for JMU Homecoming. Didn’t get to fish on River due to flooding. Can’t wait for next month.
We enjoyed our stay at this Riverside Retreat. The views of the river were nice and even though the weather was rainy we were able to appreciate the yard and views of the river. The house has a comfortable and large kitchen as well as a game room where we had some foosball and puzzle challenges and living room where we visited with family. Thanks for sharing your home!
Got this vrbo for a friend get away for the weekend. It was great for what we needed, the beds slept very good. All of the beds seemed to be memory foam mattresses. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need including spices.
Everything was clean and the location was great and pretty. Only real issue we had was with the Wi-Fi which kept saying no internet. It is a great location and the kids enjoyed going down to the water. Sorry drive to town if need anything and may responded quickly to any issues we had.
Quaint old house with lots of small appliances for you to use. The clean air of the mountains had a gentle breeze blowing every day. The river access is not accessible from the back yard easily, but a short walk takes you to a bridge where you can get to the water. Bring water shoes as the river is rocky.
This property was perfect for our group of family and friends. Everything was clean and comfortable. Having three full bathrooms was ideal, as was the newly updated kitchen. The rooms are all spacious and we slept great on the beds. The outdoor setting is a dream, with a huge front porch and amazing backyard views of the river. You can easily walk down to the creek to splash and play, which our little ones enjoyed. We also loved the fire pit! We are so grateful for the perfect space for our weekend.
Mary Byrd owns the house we stayed in for the week, and she welcomed us with open arms. The house was still decorated for Christmas and was spotless. We had two dozen of fresh eggs for our stay, condiments, along with spices were included too. We used all five bedrooms and each one was very comfortable. The showers in the bathrooms were also excellent. The kids had a nice big yard to play in and a big field across the street where we played football, dodgeball, and kickball. It was very soothing to hear the river at the back of the house and enjoy the fire pit in the cool evenings. We recommend this home and the nearby resorts for fantastic family vacation.
My girlfriend and I arrived much later than we expected but Mary, our point of contact, was very accommodating and made sure that we were situated! Everything from the kitchen to the bathrooms to the bedroom we stayed in was clean and well-kept.
The kitchen almost any appliance you could possibly need and a large, clean refrigerator.
They have very strong Wi-Fi that has two bands, 5ghz if you are close to the router, and 2.5 if you are farther away. There are TVs anywhere you could want one and a cute game room with a chess game table and an EXTENSIVE selection of board games hidden within the seats. We chose to play Quibbler!
There is relatively easy access to the river and the view of it is wonderful! And despite being the middle of winter, the house was nice and warm.
Overall, this cozy house was perfect for us. The owners, Eugene and Mary, were responsive and clearly care for this home and its visitors. The location is secluded, yet not more than a minute of driving from what appears to be the center of town. We would absolutely stay again!
We were attending a cousins reunion in Broadway, VA and were lucky enough to find this house to rent. Plenty of rooms, bathrooms and outdoor space. The house was very clean with a well equipped kitchen. Mary was very easy to contact. The only negative I have, is the grill was a little hard to work with. It probably just needed to be cleaned. I would definitely go back to enjoy the Shenandoah area again. Thank you.
Very nice house that is close to several hiking trails
It is a very nice house with an amazing kitchen. The bedrooms were comfortable and the game room was a nice touch. The surroiundings of the property are okay but is it close to some great hiking trails. My only feedback is with the bathroom doors which don't have latches. The one on the second floor does not close easily, which was challenging with multiple people sharing it. But a great place otherwise!
Older home with great charm and character often lacking in new construction. Loved the wood floors and cozy feel. Spacious rooms, ample bathrooms, and several porches. Go to sleep listening to the North Fork of the Shenandoah river. Our two families had a great time and will probably use it again.
My family and my brother's family all stayed at this property while in town for JMU's homecoming weekend. The property is conveniently located at 20 minutes from JMU. There was plenty of room for both of our families and at least half the cost of renting hotel rooms during homecoming weekend at JMU where hotels jack up their rates. We would definitely stay at this property again!
