RED FOX CABIN ON DEVIL TRACK LAKE IN GRAND MARAIS, MN! CHARMING & REFINED!
The owners of this fabulous property have created a dreamy lakefront cabin experience with a remote and private feel on the shores of Devil Track Lake in Grand Marais, MN. While it's considered close to downtown Grand Marais you'll feel as if you're in the middle of the wilderness! The views, location, wildlife, serenity, peacefulness are tough to beat...that's a fact! Solar, electric, propane are in place for utilities/power. Broadband fiber optic high speed internet is in place, too! There is one main floor bathroom w/ a shower/toilet/sink and a lovely/updated kitchen...both with running water. The wood stove will be your friend during cold winter days/nights and there's also a propane wall heater in place on the main level! There's a lot to love about the lakeshore location. The cabin sits along a quiet, very private stretch of shoreline and Devil Track Lake is a nice fishing and recreation lake, yet still very much a lake for paddlers and wilderness lovers, too. Get ready for peaceful, starry-skied nights, hikes, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, swimming, paddling and relaxing!!
PLEASE NOTE: ADVENTURE AWAITS IF YOU ARE OKAY WITH A ROUGHER ROAD/DRIVE INTO THIS GORGEOUS CABIN AND SETTING. AN AWD OR A 4WD VEHICLE IS A MUST. AS WINTER GUESTS, YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO BUILD A FIRE IN THE WOOD STOVE, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY UPON CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT (I.E. TURNING OFF TWO BREAKERS AT THE POWER PANEL), AND POSSIBLY PITCH IN WITH A SHOVEL IF A HUGE AMOUNT OF SNOW FALLS DURING YOUR STAY. IT'S A REMOTE SETTING EVEN THOUGH THE ROAD AND DRIVEWAY GET PLOWED. IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A TRAILER DOWN THE ROAD AND PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AREA IN THE WINTER, TOO. PARKING TRAILERS AT THE END OF THE PAVEMENT AND BEFORE THE ROUGHER ROAD SEEMS TO WORK BEST IN THE WINTER MONTHS. PLEASE SIMPLY KEEP IN MIND THAT IT'S NOT A SPOT THAT CARETAKING/MAINTENANCE CREWS CAN SHOW UP AT ON A MOMENT'S NOTICE. SELF-SUFFICIENT GUESTS ARE OUR FAVORITES!! THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Great place to stay. If you have a larger trailer its about impossible to turn around with the snow.

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it. Given the significant snowfall just prior to your arrival, we did reach out a few times to let you know that the road and driveway conditions could be challenging, especially with two trucks and trailers, and we offered alternative options that may have been easier to navigate.
That said, we’re glad to hear you still enjoyed your stay and hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay, having breakfast in every morning (great kitchen and cabin layout), reading on the sofa in front of the wood burning stove, and then venturing out to explore the trails and local businesses for the day. Cabin was clean and well appointed, including a nice selection of books. Close to Grand Marais, yet so secluded! We elected to eat in one evening we were so comfortable.

Sounds as if you had a perfect trip! How wonderful is that and we appreciate the review. Hopefully we'll see you coming back again. Thank you for staying at Red Fox Cabin.
Host was accommodating for allowing my dog to stay in his kennel in the entryway. The cabin is very nice and cute. Unfortunately we didn't receive check-in information until after our scheduled check-in time. We understood that we would have to build a fire, but the cabin was only 42 when we arrived. It took a full day to warm the cabin up to 70 with the fire going around the clock. The hot water pipes were frozen the entire stay as well.

We're deeply sorry that you weren't able to access the check-in information that was sent to you prior to your arrival. Technology can be tricky once you get closer to the cabin. We're sure that walking into a cold cabin with frozen pipes was frustrating and disappointing. Unusually cold weather and storm conditions can wreak havoc on us. Thank you for your review and, again, we are sorry this happened during your stay.
What a great experience. Stayed for the winter solstice and everything about the cabin is great. Firewood seasoned and ready to use. All of the kitchen utensils are top notch and it felt like home. Cross country ski right out the back door onto the lake. We’ll be back for a summer stay for sure!
We had an amazing time at this beautiful cabin by the lake. The cabin was clean, spacious and very well maintained. We loved sitting by the fire and watching the northern lights at the dock. Thank you again
My husband and I loved staying at this cabin for our anniversary. The outdoor area is spacious, well kept, and private. We loved building campfires every day and getting to sit by the water. It was incredibly peaceful. Having a full kitchen was great too. The cabin felt very equipped with both necessities and entertainment. Our biggest regret is not booking a longer stay
It was one of my favorite places I've stayed. The road was rough getting there, but once there, it was secluded and quiet. My mom passed away last week and this place was just what l needed. I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Linda

We were sorry to see that you left just a 3 star review and still found it nice and isolated. Our description on our listing as well as our guest instructions indicate that the road can be a rough one and we even go so far as to suggest driving at least an AWD vehicle if not a 4WD vehicle. We thank you for staying and appreciate you leaving a review.
A beautiful, quiet, comfortable spot on the lake. We enjoyed time canoeing on the lake, having camp fires, and relaxing, as well as hiking at several of the state parks along the Superior shore. A great week! We even caught a few fish from the dock.
We had a wonderful Time in this lovely, quiet, off the beaten trail Cabin. We saw the Northern Lights, wildlife while kayaking and caught a few fish. We would definitely stay here again!
Red Fox was a perfect destination for our wintery weekend getaway! Beautiful location and an absolutely charming structure to spend quality some quality cabin time!
WHILE IS IS AN OFF-GRID PROPERTY IT STILL HAS MANY AMENITIES/"URBAN LUXURIES" DUE TO THE SOLAR, GENERATOR AND PROPANE IN PLACE. IT'S AN INCREDIBLE PLACE FOR OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS, SNOWMOBILERS, WATER FUN & FISHING FANS! IF YOU WANT TO DISCONNECT YOU CAN BUT YOU STILL HAVE ACCESS TO WI-FI.
What makes this property unique
