Private two bedroom, one bath apartment spans the entire east side of the house, front to back, with harbor views from every room. An original harbor side home, renovated with modern decor, with a feel that is both vintage and fresh. Situated on a corner lot on the harbor with a spacious yard perfect for campfires, games, relaxing in the hammock, and simply watching the world go by.
Ideal as a home base for exploring the North Shore,
and as a sanctuary from which to contemplate the Big Lake, which is spectacular in all seasons.

This place was perfect for my wife and I while in Grand Marais for 5 days. The host was great and all communication was too. We had a blizzard on our 3rd day with 2 feet of snow and she made sure that the driveway and sidewalks were cleared as soon as was possible so that we could get out if we wanted to. We will definitely be back to this place!

A perfect place to stay in Grand Marais. The Eastside Suite at the Avalong Guesthouse was just right for our 4-night stay. Close walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in town, and an amazing view of Lake Superior from the front windows. I was taking a class at the North House Folk School, which was less than a block away. The property was cozy, exceptionally clean, and beautifully decorated. Even with temps below zero outside, we were warm and happy inside. This is our new place to stay whenever we're in, or near, Grand Marais.
