Merci Jim! Nous avons été ravis de vous accueillir à la maison! Vous avez bien apprécié le piscine, la piste de pétanque et le pool house! Cela nous a ravi!! Revenez nous voir! À bientôt
A lovely property with beautiful gardens and a fantastic pool area with magnificent views of several chateaux. Great location close to Beynac, Sarlat and Domme. We stayed during a particularly hot period so spent much of our time relaxing by the pool and having lazy barbecues in the evening. A very relaxing break and we would definitely stay again.
Lovely property which managed to exceed our expectations. Nathalie was a charming, gracious, attentive and proactive host who gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and made us a special dinner for our final night. Highly recommended.

Outsanding property and beautiful location
Fabulous house. Very close to interesting chateaux. Stunning pool and cabana. Really enjoyed the hot air balloons floating over in the early evening. Very close to the Dordogne River for canoeing. A five star experience.
It is the perfect place for a vacation in the Dordogne. Even though the area is full of tourist, you will have safe and quite stay at this estate. Every morning we had the pleasure of wacthing hot air baloons rising into the the air with 4 castles in the background. The pool is heaven. The ower of the estate is very easy to communicate with.
An amazing house and property with a wonderfully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a fabulous new bathroom. The pool house room has incredible views and awe saw a hot air balloon right above us. Nathalie and Denis were inattentive and hosts and responsive to all our needs. We look forward to returning with our grown children and grandchildren as it is not only a great place for a visit with friends but ideal for an extended family stay!

Merci Holly! C’était un vrai plaisir de vous rencontrer! Nous serions ravis de vous accueillir à nouveau. À bientôt.
Our stay here was simply serene. The house is cozy, the pool area scenic and the pool house a wonderful dining and family gathering area. There are views of castles in all directions. The natural light on the surrounding landscape stunning. And in the evening colorful hot air balloons take off from the valley below and slowly float overhead, giving the day a magical ending.
Such an incredibly special property. And Denis and Nathalie are so welcoming. Couple unexpected surprises asking the way that we won't spoil for others. Loved walking up to marqueyssac to explore or watch the balloons each night. A truly unique experience.

Paradise
This house and its surroundings are magical. From waking up to hot air balloons over the house to visiting the stunning gardens of the chateau just up the road, or just basking in the sun a few yards from the sunflowers by the quiet pool... We were well received, everything was perfect and exactly like the description. Nathalie is an excellent host who made us feel very welcome. You cannot go wrong with this house. This was our second stay and we will be back.

Superbly located holiday home that exceeded ALL expectations!
We stayed for a week in mid June 2017 as a group of 4 couples.
Beautiful property with brilliant facilities. Super kitchen and pantry, sitting room that remained cool during the day and well appointed bedrooms. Great range of cooking utensils, pans, glasses and a dishwasher! Pool house includes dining and sitting area which was well frequented during our stay, the pool was amazing.
The views from the property are exceptional and include 4 castles and the surrounding land with Sarlat, Castelnaud and Beynac very accessible.
Owners very prompt on responses and very accommodating. My wife is already planning a return trip...cannot recommend it enough.

Our stay was perfect in every way. The house is beautifully decorated, comfortably arranged, well stocked with every convenience. The grounds, the pool house and the views from the property are stunning. Nathalie and Denis were lovely, welcoming hosts. The house is close to the major sites of the Dordogne. valley. The markets, the castles, the caves, fabulous restaurants are all within a short drive. We have rented in the Dordogne many times and were so glad we found this property for a very special major milestone birthday celebration. Thank you Nathalie and Denis for sharing your beautiful home with us.

We just had a wonderful and very relaxing week at this property. The setting is so special - you can see castles in all directions, including the Jardins de Marqueyssac which just above the property, within walking distance. We saw wonderful sunsets and hot air balloons rising into the sky every evening. The swimming pool is a really good size so you can swim lengths and play around. We all loved the pool and the trampoline! The house itself is beautifully furnished and the kitchen has everything you need. There is so much to do in the area from canoeing to visiting castles and caves. We had a few trips out but it was wonderful just to relax at the property and enjoy the peace and the space. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely Wonderful @Vezac
This property was just great. Even more beautiful than the pictures, a terrific location, and you really do see 4 castles from the property. Actually have pictures of 4 hot air balloons rising up over the swimming pool with one of the castles in the background. The property and house are impeccably maintained, their caretaker, Jean Pierre, was always available and helpful, the interiors are lovely, comfortable and welcoming.
We were 2 couples but the house could have comfortably held more. Appliances were up to date and well functioning (not always the case in rentals). We all loved it!
We will definitely rent this property again.

We had a fantastic time staying at Nathalie and Denis house. It’s an amazing place and we would definitely go back. The photos don’t do the place justice!
Natalie and Denis were tremendous hosts, super kind and helpful.
We’ve got a young family and the kids loved hanging out by the pool house. The swimming pool is superb with incredible views of the castles. We used the cooking facilities in the pool house every evening whilst watching the amazing hot air balloons float over.
The Dordogne region is beautiful with lots of things to do. Within walking distance there is a castle with wonderful gardens and other castles a short drive away. Canoeing down the river is easy to organise and was a real joy.
All in all, a fantastic stay at a fantastic property. Many thanks!
If you’re wanting to feel like you actually “live” in France, this is your property. The farmhouse oozes charm as it’s been the family’s well loved weekender for decades. Complete with family portraits, years of crockery and bits and pieces. A sterile holiday home this is not! The grounds of the property have you thinking you’re staying at your own Château, acres of lush green lawns and probably the best view from any swimming pool in France - 4 castles, whilst doing laps. Absolutely stunning property! Only criticism is that being a very old farm house, it was quite dusty. However I did mention this to the owners and they were going to discuss with the housekeeper. All in all, beautiful stay in beautiful countryside.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 Mar 2020
Hello Julia, we were delighted to welcome you to our house and that your stay went well! The house exists since the 17th century and the walls are stone. The stones always leave a little deposit on the walls and we can not help it. Obviously, this is not a new house as you can have in Dubai .. :) The paintings were redone this year as well as the sofas of the living room. We are happy you enjoyed the view of the castles. Do not hesitate to come back whenever you want! Nathalie et Denis
The property has amazing views of 2 castles. It is well located next to the jardins de marqueysac which is nice to walk through. The major downside of the property is it is very difficult to get to town, the road is very busy and no shoulders to walk on. We were 8 very athletic runners and bikers and noone walked or rode bikes to town in 10 days- we drove. the other minor downsides were the place was marginally equipped with things like garbage bags, paper products, dishwashing soap etc. and the washer dryer was impossible to operate and the owner kept adding on little extra charges. You can do better

Response from VrboOwner on 24 Aug 2021
hello Brian,
We are delighted that you enjoyed the view of the 4 castles. The house is located on an area of 6ha and is therefore 3.5Km from the village of Beynac and 5Km from the village of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, so you need a bike or a car to walk. In summer, in fact, there are a lot of people on the roads in the region because it is very touristy. There are many hiking trails around where there is nobody even in summer. you can easily walk or cycle there.
Regarding the equipment, we leave garbage bags, sponges, household products, coffee, washing-up liquid for a few days and it is up to you to complete these supplies for the rest of the stay (you stayed 12 days). We checked the dryer which works great and we have a large clothesline outside. Indeed, we had to ask you for a supplement for the cleaning because the state in which you left the house was particularly very dirty.
We wish you a beautiful end of summer. Best regards.

Dream Away from Home
This is definitely one of the best family vacation experiences we have ever had. This property is more lovely than could be expected and it was immediately obvious that much care went into creating this estate. It does not feel like a rental property but a much loved home that we were privileged to share. The attention to detail from the beautiful interiors and furnishings to the magnificent landscape design made it difficult to leave and go out sightseeing! My husband and I, our two adult daughters, their friend and our teenage son were in heaven. When we did decide to go out, the location was perfectly centralized and within 5 to 10 minutes to the Dordogne river, all the beautiful villages and chateaux. Jean Pierre, the caretaker, was so sweet and Nathalie was always quick with any question we had. I pray that we can return some day! Thank you so much for this amazing experience!

It is with pleasure that we welcomed you to the Bois de Selve! It is with pleasure that we will welcome you again! Come also in winter, autumn or spring (we rent occasionally this season)! See you soon! Nathalie
We had excellent communication with the owners (who live in a house next to the rental) prior and during our stay. The photographs and comments of prior guests are VERY accurate. We used the master bedroom and two other bedrooms for our children ages 22 and 17. Storage, bathrooms , parking: all plentiful. Kitchen is fully equipped. The property was neither hot nor cold. There was a good washer and dryer.
Nathalie abs Denis offered to help with reservations, but we had dinner outside or by the pool each night.
Sarlat is the biggest of the local towns, and it is very charming. But there are other smaller towns and they cute too. We enjoyed the farmers market at St Cyprien, canoeing x 2 hours on the Dordogne, and just driving around. The Pre-History museum is a small museum well worth a visit (it’s a cheap entrance fee), given the significance of Paleolithic findings in the area. It’s in a lovely little town too.
We had a fantastic stay at Denis & Nathalie's house with our entire extended family. We had 2 twin baby granddaughters with us and Nathalie went out of her way to have 2 travel cribs ready for their arrival.
The property was most amazing, with views of the historic medieval castles of Beynac, Castelnaud and Marqueyssac in different directions. The house is typical rustic Perigourdine, with a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable facilities, beautiful grounds, and a large swimming pool with its own poolhouse and kitchen, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. There were even a charming playroom with well stocked toys, dolls and games for children, a backyard trampoline and a
BBQ area from where you can watch hot air balloons drifting closely by!
Its location allows easy access to the castles, the charming villages of Beynac and La Roque-Gageac, the famous market of Sarlat-la-Caneda, the prehistoric Caves of Lascaux, to canoe and gabare trips down the Dordogne River, and even a daytrip to Rocamadour.
We are very happy to have found this property for our extended family overseas vacation and strongly recommend it!
Wish we had a chance to get recommendations about local attractions and restaurants from our knowledgeable charming hostess, whom we met on our last day!

You were perfect and very discreet hosts and we will be delighted to welcome you later. During your stay, I was not there and I was only able to meet you when you left. We remain very discreet so as not to interfere with your holidays when we are there. We are delighted that you were able to enjoy the Périgord which is calm and magnificent in June.

Spectacular
This was the best vacation rental we have had in 30 years of renting in France. Not just because of the property, which is extraordinary, but also because of how close we were to everything we like to do. We purchased a year long pass (abonnement) to Marqueyssac for €19 per person, and we walked the 5 minutes to the chateau almost every day over the course of 2 weeks. We went for for the gardens, but also for ice cream, drinks, lunch...
House
The house is in excellent condition and was perfectly suited for our family of 4 (mom, dad, and our kids, a 20 year old and a 14 year old). Everything was comfortable, and everything worked.
Property
Huge. There are three outside eating areas, and all of them are great. Very private. Nobody came wandering thru the garden, and nobody lives near the house. You can go picnic without leaving home.
Pool
The pool is spectacularly positioned so that you can swim laps and see castles at the same time. This is the first pool we've had that was long enough to swim laps in. It's not huge but if you want some exercise, you can get it. Or you can prostrate yourself under the sun and watch other people exercise.
Added Bonus
We had fun waving to hot air balloons that drifted, silently, over the property almost daily.
Location
We shopped at E. Leclerc in Sarlat (10 minutes away), bought bread and pâtisseries just across the bridge to Castlenaud (Maison Jerome, 3 minutes away), and we paddled down the Dordogne a couple times from Cenac (10 minutes away).
We can't recommend this property more highly!

Amazing. N'hesitez pas
This place has got real "wow" factor.
Accurate as the pictures on this website are, it doesn't fully prepare you for first sighting the property up on the hill as you approach it from the road underneath - or for walking around the grounds looking out over the valley below. It was no less stunning for us by the end of the week than it was at the start of the week when we were new to it.
The property itself has a very homely feel to it, it is very well equipped and extremely tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are quiet, peaceful and the beds themselves are very comfortable.
If you are looking for a modern villa with clean lines then this clearly isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for elegance, comfort and character then this place has these by the bucketload.
We travelled as a group of 8, two families each with 2 kids (ages ranging from 9-13). They loved the pool, which is massive - only slightly smaller than the one at our eldest son's high school. We loved the peace and tranquility of the place, the 360 views of the valley, and that everywhere you looked there was a chateau on a nearby hill. The sunsets down the valley were beautiful, and often accompanied by the hot air balloons which sometimes take off from a nearby field (note: shut bathroom windows and curtains if showering at dawn or dusk, else those in the balloon may get more of a view than that were expecting!).
Nathalie (the owner) responded very promptly to my emails, was very helpful, made some nice recommendations for things to do in the area (don't miss the candles on summer Thursday evenings in the jardins above, it's stunning).
Monsieur Faure, the caretaker, was a very jolly fellow and also very helpful - offering to dispose of our rubbish on the final morning because we had very little room left in our cars to load it up.
If you are considering a break in this part of the world, you like the look of these pictures, and you want somewhere quiet, beautiful but not too isolated as a base for exploring the Dordogne by car then don't hesitate - I can't imagine that you'll be anything other than satisfied by this property in this location.

Beautifully situated with magical views!
Our family of six, including our great uncle and a two year old grand daughter had the pleasure of renting this gorgeous home and property, close to Beynac, for twelve days in late September/ early October of this year.
The ample property is located in a quietly magical setting on a plain with long views in the heart of the Dordogne, surrounded by four chateaux, all set well up in the surrounding hillside so they are all easily seen from some point on the property. There is also an elegant and massive salt water pool area, well away from the house in a perfect spot for catching the incredible views or watching the hot air balloons float by, while cooling off and enjoying the long lingering late afternoon sun. After a day of hiking, kayaking, visiting a chateau or enjoying a late lunch somewhere close by, the pool area is a great lure to bring you back home.
The home is a spacious old stone mas, well-equipped, with a separate main floor master wing with large bathroom including a good soaker tub, a second story double bedroom with en-suite bath and a third story with two double bedrooms and a shared bathroom.Though simply outfitted, the bedrooms and bathrooms are confortable and very private.
The large family style eat-in kitchen is fully equipped and there is a gracious and attractive living room, a powder room, and two large outdoor eating areas front and back, to complete this ample accommodation. Though not bright inside, the home is tastefully outfitted in a traditional manner and is very charming and comfortable.
For active fun, not only can you swim but there is an excellent trampoline for the young and young at heart to help wear off some of the local fois gras that you are bound to be sampling in the area, not to mention some of the offerings from the many restaurants close by.
Close to so many points of interest, we found this home not only inviting and warm, but also in a very practical location that created easy opportunities for our family of all ages, offering a number of fun activities to choose from close by.
There is another large home on the property built of a lovely new stone that was not occupied during our stay. Though we did not meet the owners, we were welcomed by a charming local gentleman who cared for the properties and our needs during our visit.
A rare find! We hope to go back!
