After Dune Delight at Treasure Island. Island life, Island time.
Early morning walks on the beach is your best chance at finding shells and with luck a sand dollar or two. The beach in front is not swimmable due to the riptides caused by the pass, wading is ok and good for shell searching or sunbathing. The swimming beach is 2 blocks back and 3 blocks down, walkable but there are some parking places by the entrance. After swimming, rinse off in the down stairs shower. Pull the grill out and cook up some burgers, stay down on the lower deck or move up and enjoy watching the waves or paragliders on the Galveston beach across the bay. Does it get better than this? Stay off the dunes and grasses as Rattlesnakes like to hide there...yes rattlesnakes... Get up before 6 to see the sunrises... worth getting up early...

Beautiful, quite, very quite, peaceful home, it was one of the most relaxing peaceful vacations we’ve been on, this home was like home away from home for us, had every amenity one could ask for, a little far from any store or restaurants but of course that was why it was so peaceful, it felt almost as we had the entire ocean to ourselves, we highly recommend this property, and will definitely make it our permanent vacation home when we visit Galveston
Owners where very nice and communicated great with my wife. House was beautiful inside and out. Any minor request we had they worked with us. We will definitely be back next year. Wish all of our other experiences where as great as this one.
Everything was good, we had lot of fun. Only couple of things, lift don’t work so, have to use stairs for moving up and down. One thing that really worried us was when we talked to the owner she said be careful there will be snakes out there. Which we were not informed before the stay. Since we have kids that was a huge concern for us. But I really appreciate the owner for being honest and telling us to be careful around the house and dumes. Over all everything was good.
Property was great. Great location kitchen had everything one would need to prepare any meal. Home was very clean when we arrived We are ready to return for our next trip highly recommend
First, the house was great! It was decorated super fun & super clean. Check in was 4pm and finally at 5:00 that day I had to message the owner to find out how to get in, thankfully she did reply quickly with the code since we were an hour away, not sure what we would have done had she not.
Next, location…. I was kind of surprised upon arrival that the house is not actually on the beach. One of the pics that shows the jetty right down from the house is looking off the corner of the porch. Your view right in front of you is a row of houses. I specifically filtered in house, beach front and ocean front so I assumed it would be directly on the beach and nothing between us and the ocean except sand. I have even came home after our trip and used the same filters just in case I had made a mistake but this listing came up again. We were specifically warned to stay off the dunes (which we always would) but there really wasn’t what I would call dunes, there was small mounds of sand that I assume they have brought in to help erosion from the last big storm. With that said getting to the beach was a bit tricky. You didn’t want to cut through the driveway for the house directly in front of you and if you walked down towards the jetty the storm had washed the road completely out. For anyone not in good health you would not be able to maneuver over the piles of asphalt to the actual beach. This wasn’t an issue for us as we climbed over but I would have been very upset had I brought my mother in law or grandmother since I thought the house was Beachfront and Oceanfront per the filters of the VRBO app.
The kitchen was awesome, we took our own spices but the cabinets had probably anything you could possibly want in it. There was plenty of utensils, pots, pans and serving ware.
It was a great trip and besides the disappointment of the location of the house and the real view from the porch it was great. Would I stay here again….sadly no. We found the listing for the house directly in front of this house and it was literally less than $40 a night more to be right on the beach. Don’t get me wrong! If being one street off the beach but still having a great view of the ocean and a little bit of a hike to get to the water is ok with you then it’s a great listing.
House had absolutely everything. Great location, plenty of space, very responsive owners, very clean. This was a great experience for me to show my spouse where I grew up!! Only complaint we have was having to leave! 10/10 will stay here again!!!
The house was very comfortable. The beach in front is not swimmable, but there are plenty of public beaches around. It being a non-swimming beach makes for quieter evenings, and excellent shelling! We found so many treasures! You’re about 20 minutes from a grocery store, but the drives are lovely! Would absolutely go again!
Tip: Bring bug spray! — to any gulf destination.

About the host

Welcome to our home, this is not just an investment property but our second home and we hope it will be treated with respect. We are semi retired, meaning Norm is retired and I'm still working... he is now helping me run our real estate brokerage. We have been together 52 years, so yes he qualifies for Sainthood. We have 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren. Life is very good.
Why they chose this property
Location, Location, Location!!! And plenty of room to not get in each others way. Treasure Island is close enough to all needs but secluded as well, Right at the pass across from Galveston it's a bit of a secret.
What makes this property unique
The View!!! Upper and lower deck to enjoy the outdoors in comfort.
