Living room fireplace, master bedroom fireplace AND 2nd television. Cozy CLEAN bedding! NOTE: IF YOU ARE REQUESTING TO BRING A PET PLEASE SUBMIT DETAILS. Our spotless home has been newly updated with paint and flooring and newer furnishings. Come and experience the changing seasons of the Pacific. Stand on the grass and look south down the entire coast! A private beach and cove right on the Pacific Ocean with crashing surf, rocks to climb and afternoon tide pools to explore along with a secret beach cave! Spectacular views and ocean air from almost every window! Wake up to seals barking on the rocks! Take the nearby stairs (out the front door, turn right, walk to the fence/sign.)to the private beach to explore, swim, collect shells and driftwood, dig for clams, or watch whales. Lounge on the deck with a book and get full benefit of the view and ocean air or do the same in a rocking chair by the fire! Hubs & I were looking to get away for a few days. Upon searching for a home we came across this gem. The location was great. The house was clean & had all the amenities that we needed. Spectacular ocean view. It was great having access to the beach so close by.

Getaway

Even with stormy weather, we live the Oregon Coast. We went down to the private beach and it was wonderful. Amazing views from the living room. Cozy and comfortable.

Nice place to stay

Beautiful Beach Cottage

This is our second stay at Ocean View Cottage - I highly recommend it . The view is outstanding and the cottage is very homey and welcoming - anything you might need - they have it . It’s so comfortable . Brand new Hot tub on the deck was amazing . We will definitely rent this cottage again .

Whale watching Delight

Wonderful beach house for our Family's vacation in Brookings Oregon. Our 3 night stay was flawless with all the amenities needed to be a jump off point to see Harris State Beach, Redwood Trees, Crabbing in Coos Bay and California Lava Caves on the way home. We were lucky to have grey whales playing out the gorgeous bay window for an entire day. Big thank you to Mike and Cathy for sharing such a magical place.

Great view from the hot tub!

This is a great location. The ping pong table would be a good thing except that the garage needs cleaning. Heads up to future guests: Bring your own laundry soap and extra paper towels as these are not supplied by the host.

Beautiful Home with Amazing View!

This property is wonderful! We really enjoyed our time in the house. The view is amazing! It was great having access to a private beach. We didn't have any issues going to/from the beach but if you struggle going up and down stairs, it would be difficult as that is how you get to the beach. Everything was clean in the home and the hot tub was nice to have on the back deck! We would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to take a vacation to the Oregon Coast!

Enjoyable Stay - One Exception

Everything about the house was great. The only problem was the neighbor running a chainsaw all day for the two days we were there. The chainsaw started before 8 am and continued until past 6 pm. The next day, it started all over again. This was very unfortunate.

Beautiful view, short walk to the beach

Great location, short walk to the private beach, beautiful view but there is another VRBO to the right. Depending on who is there may effect your stay. There was no fence so the other guests dogs kept running on our deck and the owner was chasing her golden retrievers early in the morning and across the deck so it made it awkward while in the hot tub. The house was cute but the back yard furniture needs to be replaced. Great location and wonderful view though

Costal Getaway

The house was very cute and the view is beautiful. Unfortunately, the heat was not working at the time which I believe they have since fixed but we made up for it with the Hot tub! Lol. It is missing a bed that was in the Posting. The fold out couch is no longer a fold out couch, so we were down a bed of what we were expecting. Overall, Great location, great views and a great way to getaway.

Ocean View Cove is very special

This cottage was inviting with cheerful decor and was absolutely and spotlessly clean. The ocean views were fantastic from the deck and inside the cottage. The fireplaces created ambiance in the evening, or when the fog rolled in, for a cozy feel. The kitchen had all that was needed to put together a nice meal. Although there are close neighbors, it still had a very private feel. Only down-side was the master bedroom mattress had deep indentations older hips don't tolerate well, but it would not prevent me from returning. I am already thinking of my next stay. Thank You Mike & Cathy for creating this little piece of Coastal Heaven.

Happy Family Vacay

We rented this property for the location, we wanted to be right on the beach. My family smiled and thanked me upon entering the home and seeing how close the beach was. The private beach access was perfect. The main bedroom bed was lumpy but still comfortable and the view from the bedroom was impeccable, hearing the ocean while we slept was a dream. The hot tub was a real treat, though it had some confusing directions regarding Jet 1. The neighbors were friendly. Make sure to note that you have to clean all of the dishes and put them away upon check out, you cannot leave them in the dishwasher. This was an important piece to remember on the morning of check out. We would rent this again for sure.

Poor communication with property owners left us without a place to stay when we showed up to our destination. When we tried to contact them, they never responded to our calls or VRBO calls until the next day. They then refunded us our money but not after they charged us a fee for cancelling with them. Do not ever book with these owners!

Beautiful home in an amazing location.

Walking into this home and seeing the gorgeous ocean view was an incredible experience. The sun was just starting to set, and the colors were unbelievable! The home was cute as can be and very clean too. The walk to the beach down the stairs was easy and having the private beach was lovely. We saw a sea lion playing in the water near the shore! The weather was perfect, with only one drizzly day. We typically visit the central coast, so we appreciated all the sunshine! We were expecting one more bed - 1 king, 1 queen, 1 queen convertible, and 1 double - but there were only 3 total. No big deal, since my son was happy to sleep on the couch. The beds were all comfy and the view from the master was extraordinary! This was a wonderful property for our group - myself, my mother, and my 2 older kiddos. We can't wait to return!

Exterior of home is very outdated and needs cleaning and repairs. Inside had a mildew smell - There is no access from the garage into the home (the previous door that was there has been sealed off. Description says it has a garage, but you can’t drive a vehicle into it due to items being inside. There is a carport but it’s extremely narrow to get into. Location of home is ok, just a short walk down to the beach. Description says has portable baby crib, but we could not find it - also says there is a gym, but there is not one nor are there any items that can be used for exercise. Description says A/C and Heat and that is true on a small level - there is "1" Mitsubishi unit in the living area that is supposed to heat and cool the entire home, but it is not sufficient enough to do so. Overall, the home is very outdated and could use a lot of TLC. Best thing about it was the location.

Overall, our stay was good the things that I was not happy about was that we look forward to having a jacuzzi to enjoy with the kids and three days before our stay we were notified that the jacuzzi had not been working for months and we were given the option to cancel our stay which would have ruined Easter and our trip for our family. I think the owners should have declared in advance the jacuzzi was not working. Also, there is not much privacy as the neighbors' deck is litterly in the yard to this home and there's no avoiding it. The ad also makes it look like the stairs to the beach are right outside this home or on the property they are not you after to walk around another home down a path to the stairs that are in questionable shape with berry bushes growing through the stairs, my granddaughter got splinters in her hand holding on to the rail because they are so weather damages. As well as we were there to relax and when my Fiancé was sitting on the deck relaxing a contractor came to work on the property and any work on the house should be done when there are no renters. The house is smaller than it looks and the removed the door to enter the garage to claim a third Bedroom, so you have to walk outside into the garage to do laundry which is so inconvenient. The list also said there was a gym and there was not. There also is no gas grill there is a charcoal grill but no charcoal to use to cook outside. I would not stay here again.

Ask if beds, couches and tv replaced before renting.

the house was clean and well equipped and the location is very good. the down side is that the beds leave a lot to be desired as does the living room furniture. Beds are slept out and and overly soft and the living room couches share the same problem. given the cost of this unit both beds and and living room furniture should be comfortable. The directions on how to access the internet need to be rewritten ( the directions we received in the confirming email and those printed out and on top of the entertainment center were not the same regarding the password. The television in the living room must be going out as it either goes to a bright green screen and shuts itself off or just won't come on. Mike's responses to our calls had a sort of cavalier tone to them and seemed more inclined to not to deal with the issues and sort of take the "well what can I do?" course of action. If my memory serves the bed issues have been spoken to in previous reviews. Nuff said.

Mike is from Oregon and so we came to Medford 30 years ago to raise our sons. One of our favorite family outings as the boys grew up was to go to Brookings, camp at the beach and get up (very) early and go fishing. Our guys would get so seasick, but they would keep on fishing for those big salmon and red snapper! Sometimes we would camp in the Redwoods, drift down the Smith River in an inner tube, or get up early for more fishing! Some days we would take a picnic to Harris Beach and our hearty guys would surf, climb the rocks, talk to the seals and explore tide pools. In 2003 we were blessed with an opportunity to buy our awesome ocean front home which seemed too good to be true! Now our family, friends and visitors enjoy a MUCH more comfortable way to make wonderful memories!

Why they chose this property

Two words: "Chetco Effect"! Our home is not only right on the ocean, it enjoys balmy summer weather with warmer temperatures unlike ANY other on the Oregon coast (called 'the Chetco effect')! It is a wonderful escape from 'valley fog' in Medford, even when it is raining in Brookings! We have a beach that is accessed only by ourselves and our neighbors because it has two large rock outcroppings where folks cannot easily access. People are friendly and there is lots to do, which unfortunately keeps us out of the lawn chair! It is a safe, low crime community with clean air and lilly fields, and there is all that wonderful FISH and crab!

What makes this property unique

Laying on the deck watching the ocean is probably our favorite, but there is rock climbing, tide pools, beach bonfires, boating, biking, wading, golf ~ and did I mention fishing and crabbing??
