Cedar Creek has earned a reputation for producing trophy bass, with fish over 5 pounds being common, and bass over 8 pounds caught each year. Anglers from across the region come to test their skills, and according to the 2006 Alabama B.A.I.T. Report, it takes an average of 95 tournament-angler hours to catch a bass over 5 pounds.

While the spotted bass population tends to be smaller, comprised mainly of fish under 14 inches, the largemouth bass are the real stars, with no size limit imposed on the black bass harvest. Crappie fishing is also top-tier, with most catches averaging 10 inches and some reaching up to 15 inches. A 9-inch minimum size limit on crappie adds to the excitement of reeling in these prized fish.
