The house was spacious with stunning water views. All bedrooms large and comfortable. King beds in four rooms with bunks in the fifth bedroom. Great mattresses. Safe space for our young grandchildren to run around in the living area. Open floor plan, plenty of seating, large and fully stocked kitchen. This was the most updated home we have ever rented. The location of the home was fabulous. Very attentive and responsive owners. Thanks for the great vacation!
Very large house on a quiet road with a great view of Pamlico Sound. Comfy bed in primary, great pressure in shower heads, well supplied kitchen with both a regular and k- cup coffee makers.
Very much enjoyed our stay. House was exactly as promised. 10 in our family, 6 adults 4 children. The view of Pamlico Sound from the deck is fantastic. We had a couple of paddle boarders that used the equipment there. It's a very easy walk across the road to the beach and the private access is in a great spot between public access points that are more crowded. We loved it. Good restaurants nearby, just short drives, but we also had great seafood boil we picked up at Harbor House Seafood and also purchased fresh oysters, crabcakes, and black grouper at Hatteras Seafood/Jeffery's Seafood market which the chef in our family cooked up in fantastic fashion. Stayed a week. Left happy!
Our family had a wonderful vacation! The house was in a perfect location. The heated outdoor shower, beach chairs, paddle board and kayaks were put to good use! The easy walk to the beach made for several great days of shelling. We will definitely be back!

Our family enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding on the sound in front of this lovely home. Comfortable and well equipped with beautiful sound view Only a short walk to the ocean from the driveway. Homeowner was easy to reach with any questions.
What a great vacation! The house was perfect - the location was terrific. There were only five of us, so we had lots of extra space. Everything was clean (didn’t see one bug or insect inside all week), and well equipped. We kayaked several times (super easy access out back) and spent many hours at the beach…a very easy walk. Views and sunset every night were amazing. Keith was super easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Great place!
The house and the location were great. The soundfront setting was perfect for the kids and the sunsets were fabulous. If you like to kayak, this is a perfect place to stay. You can launch right from the back of the house. The house itself was beautiful...great kitchen, living space, bedrooms, etc. Frisco is far away from the crowds at Nagshead but has everything you'd want to do in OBX. We'd go back in a flash.
The house was in a great location. Ocean walk just across the street , very convenient . Sound view beautiful. Serene. Sound access ok.
One improvement, needs better cooking utencils, turners, spatulas, spoons flimsy and difficult to work with. All otherwise, kitchen well equipped. Will definitely considering anther stay.

thanks for leaving a review and suggestion. i'll order some new cooking utensils!
for others reading this: the pots pans etc are good quality units and the kitchen is fully stocked with all the typical items you would find in a typical kitchen. :-))
Great house, and pictures don’t do the place justice . The views are breathtaking including unobstructed view of sunset . Great bedroom/bathroom setup for our two sets of parents with small kids and grandparents . Kitchen had everything including spices . Access to the calm bay and the ocean
With nice uncrowded beach was awesome. I don’t have anything negative to say. If I lived closer I’d be back at least twice a year.

This rental was everything we hoped it would be, and our family had an excellent time! We enjoyed kayaking on the sound, visited the beach just across the street every day, and ate more fresh seafood than I thought possible during our 2-week stay. The host was responsive to our panicky call at check-in wondering why the lockbox wouldn't open. It was late at night, dark, and it turns out we were at the wrong house! The kitchen was well supplied for family meals. All in all, a great experience in the Outer Banks.
Went with my adult children & grands . Was a great location & wonderful experience for our grands who loved being in the sound in the am looking for fish. In the evening you definitely need bug spray if your staying near the house. But other than that great property, with beautiful views . Frisco is a great location very quiet but beautiful beach and accessible to the sound & beach . House is very comfortable and never felt crowded . We loved it ❤️

Hi, Happy you'all had a great week.
(The entire island experiences seasonal bugs that wax and wane with the time of year and how much rain we've had. Some summers are completely bug free (dry summers) and others are not (wet summers). Just want to reassure anyone reading this that the outside flying bugs are not specific to this house. :-)) Thanks for leaving a review and come back next year!
Overall worked well for our two families. - we loved the roominess of the whole property. incredible incredible view of the sound but would have loved to have a pier. Close enough to the beach. they need to fix their trash situation - they did not take our trash on our trash day we had no where to put trash - i suggest getting more trashcans. Beds and sheets could use an upgrade. Furniture was so comfortable - everyone loved it and wanted to take it home with them!

Hello everyone! I wanted to respond to this review because I was shocked at how dirty the house was when I arrived on checkout day for inspection. This certainly was the worst condition I have ever seen the house left in 10 years of rental.
About trash collection: Dare county trash collection has automatic trash can pick up service. The cans must be placed properly by the roadside for the cans to be picked up by the machine. The trash can instructions are clearly provided on the bulletin board in the hallway. I noticed that all the other cans on the street from other rental houses were picked up so, that leads me to believe that you all did not follow the instructions for proper trash can collection. I did provide you in advance my cell phone number and we spoke before your arrival and I mentioned to please contact me with any questions or problems you might have. During your stay you did not contact me or ask me any questions regarding trash collection so it was a big shock to find huge piles of trash underneath the house when I arrived to inspect the property, food and liquid spilling out of broken bags onto the concrete with pizza boxes, leaking beer cans and a blow up mattress. I had to clean all this up and Clorox the area because it was attracting flies and other bugs and stunk of rotten food. If you missed trash day all you had to do was call me and ask me where you could take the trash to so this would have been easily avoidable.
I also suspect that you exceeded the maximum occupancy due to the excessive volume of trash and the blow up mattress along with the furniture being pushed to the edge of the rooms to make room for sleeping on the floor which violates the rental agreement.
We take pride in taking very good care of the house and the property to provide an excellent experience for our guests which his reflected in the rest of our reviews. 😁

Best on this stretch of soundside
We come to this particular area of Frisco each year and this is the newest and best appointed house we have stayed. The reason we keep coming back to this stretch is that ocean beach is just some 700 ft away on the other side. MaMaHooHoo is as you would expect a house which is only a few years old when everything is new and still works good. Linens are good quality and included. Kitchen is well stocked with pans/pots, spices, oils so cooking was easy. Access to sound is good for kiteboarding or just kayaking around with both kayaks which came with the house. Crab pod was a nice surprise and provided two breakfasts for us.

Santis, Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review so others know about our little slice of paradise here at MaMaHooHoo! Let me know the weeks you want for next year! You'all are welcome back anytime.:-)) -Keith
This is an awesome house in an amazing location. The house itself is well laid out, has tons of room for lots of people to gather but also spread out. The bedrooms are large and all have adjoining bathrooms.
We came here on a last min trip to the Outer Banks with our two kids. The kids loved the bunk room and the space to run around. The outdoor shower is truly amazing. We kayaked on the sound directly from the house. We spent every evening on the back deck enjoying the sunset. Almost every day we made the short trek to one of the lovelist beaches in the US we have ever been to. The sand and water are super clean, not too many people.
Keith, the owner, was super responsive and helpful. We are hoping to return again!

Thanks, Happy you'all got to experience the beautiful Hatteras Island beaches and ocean. Thanks for leaving a review and you'all are welcome back anytime. Happy to have you. Best regards, Keith
This was our first trip to the Outerbanks and we loved it. The house was very spacious, clean and well stocked for our week there. It had beautiful views of the sound, and across the street was another row of houses and the ocean—an easy walk. The town is nice and laid back and it’s a quick drive to Buxton or Hatteras. The highlight for us was the surf fishing at Hatteras Point (you have to walk to the beach unless you have an ORV pass to drive on the beach). We also rented a boat one day on the sound in Rodanthe, and a Jeep Wrangler one day in Kill Devil Hills. We drove up to Corolla and Carova to see the wild horses and drive on the ORV beaches up there which was a fun experience. We kept it for the night to drive out to the point and fish on our last night which was well worth it. Everyone was catching fish on every cast it seemed and the sunsets were spectacular. The owner was wonderful and very responsive via text. We would definitely rent here again!

Fantastic house!
Rented the house for a week with friends and family and couldn't be happier. Access to the sound is perfect for those doing water sports-- 2 kayaks and a SUP were provided. I went kite boarding most days either right in front on the flat sound water or across the street in the ocean. Coming back and having access to the hot outdoor enclosed shower was amazing. In fact, it was so nice I didn't even use the indoor shower the whole trip.
The kitchen was fully equipped and easy for us to cook for a full house. There is a grill outside that we used most days. Even caught some crabs out of the sound with the trap Keith has under the outdoor stairs.
Keith was very responsive to our needs and gave us great recommendations. The house has an informative binder providing local info, including how to get a beach driving permit which was a ton of fun.
Can't wait to go back!

Erik, Thanks for taking the time to write a review! Happy you like the outside shower! an imperative piece of equipment on Hatteras Island! Very happy you'all had a great time. Please come back soon! -Keith
Absolutely lovely, and stunning views! Definitely this one!
We had the best week, and this house was a huge part of that. So close to the beach, and the sound right in the backyard- it does not get any better than that! House is spacious, and well laid out. Outside shower was a god send with all the sand, and the clotheslines on the middle deck for sandy beach towels and swim suits were perfect. King beds were all super comfortable, but do not know about the bunk beds, as we did not use those. Sure those are the same quality as the rest of the house though, which is very nice. Owner always responded to our questions immediately, and was most helpful. I would recommend stopping for groceries at Connor's in Buxton or Food Lion in Avon on the way to the house. The smaller closer grocery stores have stuff, but being smaller, the variety is going to be limited. They were great for swinging by to get the items we forgot, and the ice cream cake we got for our son's 10th Birthday. We are definitely coming back to this house in the future, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else while on the Outer Banks! Thanks for sharing your amazingly lovely house with us for the week!

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children just spent the last week staying in this very welcoming home. The VRBO photos fairly reflected this property, and previous guest comments helped us to prepare for a successful stay.
We arrived in the area about 1 hour early because of favorable traffic conditions. Although we knew that we could not access the property until 5:00pm, we took a chance to contact the owner to see if we could arrive about 30 minutes early after getting our groceries. The owner promptly returned our text message and kindly allowed us to unload our groceries at 4:30 while he finished some work outdoors. When we arrived, he gave us a very warm welcome and provided us with an overview of the property and recommendations for making the most of our stay at his home.
The house had a nice “feel” to it, and you could tell that it was built with attention to detail. It was a great family home, with lots of stunning Sound views, and open-plan space, a big kitchen (well-equipped) and plenty of bedrooms for sleeping space. Kids and adults all enjoyed the rooms. We could also imagine that it would be a great gathering space for 4 adult couples, comfortably. The outdoor shower was a big plus - especially for 2 small sandy kids after a day at the beach. We’ve experienced some really bad outdoor showers in previous beach rentals - this one was great; a changing area, lots of room for showering and lots of hooks for clothes/towels/wet swim gear. The kids thought it was a hoot! Adults loved it because it kept the sand out of the house.
The property offered many props for outdoor adventures, including kayaks, paddle board, life jackets, and beach toys. Because the Sound was only steps away, we were able to introduce our 7-year-old grandson to the joys of kayaking and hunting for oysters and crabs in the Sound. Access to the ocean was convenient, and the beach was clean and uncrowded.
There was a large screened porch on the house’s main level which had a nice large picnic table; we did not use it. It would be perfect for group dinners (think clam bake/crab boil) with adults and teenagers; it didn’t work for little kids because of the bench size.
Overall, it was a great place to create memories. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a get-away-from-it all vacation.

Hi! thanks for taking the time to write a review. you'all are welcome back anytime, please keep us in mind for next year!
We loved staying here - the house is very large and great for big groups. The kitchen is large and well stocked. And Keith is super responsive if you have any questions.
We loved the views from the living room
windows and watching the peaceful sunsets from the deck. There is a quiet work desk nook with views of the beach for catching up on emails. The outdoor shower is great!
You can also kayak on the sound behind the house and watch the sunset! We walked to the beach across the street every day and it was beautiful and very private.
Highly recommended for a peaceful beach vacation with family and friends!
This impeccably clean treasure welcomed our family of nine with elegant arms. We are six adults, one teen and 8 and 10 year olds. The bedrooms with Jack & Jill baths, king beds and two bunk beds were perfect.
The views front and back were sublime. The "toys" of kayaks, paddle boards were #1 with both adults and kids on the Sound.
Love this place.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Elizabeth McCulloch
We are a Father and Son team originally from Pennsylvania who came to Cape Hatteras in 1982 and fell in love with the clean empty beaches and the warm waters of the Pamlico Sound and the Frisco surf. Keith (son) lives in Avon and manages the Frisco property. You'll be getting personal service directly from the owners.
Why they chose this property
We built this custom beach house for our family to enjoy the best of the Outerbanks. We love the warm waters and beaches of the southern Outerbanks. The Ocean water is warmer and the waves are more gentle on this south facing beach than the east facing beaches just a few miles away. It makes all the difference on the south side! The south side of the Island has softer sand, smoother beaches, warmer water, less people, gentle waters, quieter neighborhoods and its so much more laid back than many other beach destinations. Most of Hatteras Island is national seashore, so there's lots of room for people to spread out. The beaches are world-class; in fact, our beach was rated #4 best beach in USA in 2010.
What makes this property unique
Its all about the location. Surrounded by water the house has water views from every window. You'll have unique access to both Ocean and Sound from one location. Simply the best spot for all Outer Banks activity's.
