We had the bridesmaids for our wedding stay here the night before the wedding and the wedding night. It was perfect for what we were looking for! Everyone slept comfortably and it was a great house for us to get ready in before the wedding. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!
The house was very quaint, clean, nice neighborhood and easy to travel to ND from. We enjoyed walking to the downtown area a couple of blocks away. The pictures and informtion about the house were not exactly accurate. We did not realize that two of the main bedroom could only be accessed through a bedroom. There were 7 adults in the house and that was not convient! The air conditioning worked well on the main level, did not cool the upstairs very well. The house could use some basic things provided: cooking spray, more utensils, better cooking pans, shower heads replaced, mirrors in the bedrooms, and updated applicances.
This place was great. Close to Downtown, Notre Dame, and lots of great paces to eat/get coffee.
The house is plenty big. There was a huge storm while we were there and the house stayed plenty warm--especially in the living room where we hung-out.
The VRBO host gave great instructions to stay and go.
The neighbors where friendly and nice.
While the house is old, it has a modern basement which gives it what most houses do not.
Loved the Victorian. The neighborhood was questionable. The home itself was clean. The stove did not work properly and caused a lot of smoke in the house. And the cookware needs to be updated. The management was very friendly. We brought bikes to ride however, we didn’t feel safe to walk/ride around in the neighborhood.

Hi Audrey,
Thank you for this feedback.
With regard to your point about the neighborhood, the airbnb is located in what is known as the "Museum District". This neighborhood is mostly composed of museums, bed and breakfasts, and homes with young families. The neighborhood itself is rejuvenating and, judging from the most recent crime map and my own experience here, it is very safe. But that being said, South Bend has long struggled with poverty, and, like many neighborhoods in our city, the Museum District is near to an impoverished neighborhood. To alleviate any concern, I can only reiterate that the Museum District itself is quite safe.
Regarding the stove: I'm so sorry about that issue! We used it the week before your visit, so I'm not sure what happened. But I'll have someone fix that ASAP.
Finally, concerning the cookware: everything in the house, cookware included, was purchased just last month. So the cookware shouldn't be in need of replacement. But I'll look into this issue as well.
Apart from these issues, we are glad you enjoyed your stay!
1. Misrepresentation in Listing:The online listing for the property included altered or misleading photos that portrayed the home as clean, well-maintained, and modern. The home is in poor condition. For example: The stove shown in the listing is not the same as the one in the home, which is rusted and outdated. Furniture, such as the chairs in the front room, appears clean and inviting online but is dirty and poorly maintained in person. This misrepresentation is deceptive and does not meet reasonable expectations for rental property. 2. Safety Hazards:Several conditions pose immediate safety risks: The front porch is rotting, with loose boards that caused a guest to trip upon entry. Exposed electrical wiring throughout the home presents a fire hazard. Ceiling light fixtures lack protective globes, increasing the risk of electrical issues. I have reason to believe the smoke detectors may not be functional, which is a critical safety violation. Access to the home is restricted to the back door, as the front door keys were not provided. Overgrown vegetation makes navigating from the front to the back door hazardous. These issues violate basic safety standards and require urgent attention. 3. Unsanitary Conditions:The home is in an unacceptable state of cleanliness: Air condition
Traveled to the area for work with 5 guys. So the 5 rooms is hard to find. Nice new bedding and furniture. Quite apparent that the neighborhood is slowly changing for the better. Modest homes but closer to the rougher side of south bend. Also apparent that this owner has done a lot to make the place comfortable. The only issues were that the only upstairs bathroom is in one of the bedroom with no access for the other bedrooms. The main floor bathroom is again in a room where someone slept. The last bedroom and bathroom were in the basement. Other than that the place worked for 5 guys on a two day work trip.
The house had good supplies, coffee etc a d lots of kitchen utensils. The painted fridge wasn’t very attractive. Overall the place worked and the communication was good.
Let me start off by saying that the place has plenty of room for people we had 9 people staying and I felt like I could easily avoid everyone if I wanted to. A couple things that could be off putting. 2 of the 3 bathrooms are inside rooms so if you're not super comfortable with people coming in and out of your room at night it can be weird. Also because it is an old house you can hear the floor above you so if you're a light sleeper you might want to stay on the second floor. But overall very satisfied would probably stay again. The host is excellent and very quick to communicate :)
