About this property
Private Luxury Cabin, Stunning Mountain Views & Hot Tub by Shenandoah
Lazy Bear Oaks is your own 14-acre sanctuary with year-round Blue Ridge Mountain vistas. Set beside pristine wildlife lands, it’s a cozy-luxury retreat wrapped in nature.
Rustic charm meets modern luxury in this turn-of-the-century cabin. Redwood siding, a patinaed copper roof, and a stacked fieldstone fireplace showcase timeless craftsmanship. Inside, post-and-beam construction, heated pine floors, curated antiques, authentic taxidermy, and hand-painted artwork create a warm, character-filled retreat.
Enjoy sunsets from the western-facing balcony or sip morning coffee on the screened porch as the mountain breeze rustles the trees. Fire up the grill for a flavorful meal or gather around the natural-stone firepit for s’mores under a star-studded sky. Follow step stones and landscape lighting to a spacious 636 sq. ft. deck with outdoor dining, lounge seating, and a 5-person hot tub overlooking the mountains.
Comfortable and well-appointed sleeping spaces:
- Main floor: Queen Tempur-Pedic Cloud with barnwood furniture, full bath with walk-in shower
- Upstairs: Queen Beautyrest, full bath with a clawfoot tub/shower
- Basement: Queen sleeper sofa, full bath with walk-in shower
- Loft: Twin sleeper chair
Cook like a chef on a Viking range with soapstone counters and cast iron/Calphalon cookware. Work remotely with dual monitor setup or relax by the fireplace with a 65” QLED TV, perfect for movie nights after a day of exploring.
Whether you’re here to recharge, explore, or simply take in the views, your escape awaits at Lazy Bear Oaks.
Nestled between Greene and Madison Counties in a peaceful holler surrounded by mountains and streams. About two hours from Richmond and Washington, D.C., and 24 miles from Charlottesville–Albemarle Airport. Close to Shenandoah National Park, wineries, breweries, antique shops, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, skiing, Rapidan WMA, and more. Located in Virginia Wine Country on the edge of the Monticello AVA, just 11 miles from award-winning Early Mountain Vineyards.
We want you to have a 5-star stay. Please be aware of the following:
1) We are 18 miles (29 minutes) from the Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park.
2) High-speed internet is available for streaming, and the smart TV has popular apps. Most cell providers have coverage, but roads and areas leading to the cabin may have intermittent service. There is also a blue ray player with a small library of movies. HDMI and C-port video cables are already connected to the TV.
3) Living close to nature brings insects which may make their way into the cabin’s interior.
4) Firewood and propane are not provided. Guests may use any remaining supplies or pick some up at the nearby country store (15 min).
5) Best suited for couples or adult groups. The space isn’t childproofed and doesn’t include child-specific amenities. The hot tub is for adults only. Children are welcome, and we ask that guests supervise them closely and bring anything they may need to stay comfortable and safe.
6) Pets are not permitted. Violations will result in a $250 fee and reimbursement for any additional cleaning charges.
7) For stays longer than 7 days, the trash cans may fill up before checkout. Guests can take trash to the local transfer station (about 20 minutes away) at no cost or arrange a mid-stay clean or trash pickup service for an additional fee.
