Relaxed Mountain Living Near Minnewaska | Dream House in the Gunks
Escape to your private nature retreat at Dream House — a cozy, artfully curated home perched on the scenic slopes of the Shawangunk Ridge, just minutes from Minnewaska State Park and the dramatic Stony Kill Falls. Surrounded by forest and sky, this peaceful two-bedroom hideaway is the perfect basecamp for hiking, climbing, creative work, or quiet reconnection.
The home blends rustic charm with modern comfort and boutique hospitality. Inside, you’ll find two serene bedrooms with plush queen beds and premium bedding for deep rest. A handcrafted L-shaped couch, built by local artists, anchors the living room — perfect for conversation by the wood-burning stove. A hallway futon offers extra sleeping space for larger groups. The fully stocked bathroom features a walk-in shower with stone-look tile, warm wood paneling, and natural body products by Puracy.
The kitchen, with a forest-facing window, invites home-cooked meals and long, slow mornings. We provide essentials including salt, pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, high-end coffee and tea, plus incense, essential oils, and a humidifier to elevate the sensory experience.
Dream House isn’t just a place to sleep — it’s designed to help guests slow down and feel connected. You’ll find original artwork by Ilias Muratov and a meaningful library filled with reflective reads. Thoughtful touches throughout the space reflect our approach to hospitality: clean, high-quality, and always a little magical.
Step outside and you’ll find two outdoor porches for sipping, stargazing, or simply breathing deeply. The covered front porch welcomes quiet mornings, while the back porch opens toward the forest for a more secluded vibe. Solar lights and wooden signage add subtle charm and help you find your way home in the evening.
We’ve hosted thousands of guests over the years — creatives, couples, adventurers, and families — and many return year after year. Whether you're spending the day exploring Minnewaska’s lake trails, tasting local wine, or curled up with a book, Dream House is built to support your journey.

About the host
Hosted by Serg
I’ve spent years building spaces that invite people to slow down, reconnect, and remember what matters. Hosting is just one expression of that. These homes are more than rentals — they’re vessels for rest, inspiration, and honest living.
What began as a personal project has grown into Dream House in the Gunks, where a small, thoughtful team now helps maintain the kind of environment we’d want for ourselves: clean, cared for, and meaningful. We take pride in the details — from natural materials and curated books to quiet corners and mountain views.
Outside of hosting, I explore practices like cold exposure, yoga, and meditation — experiences that strip life down to what’s real. I also teach skydiving, which for many people becomes a profound mind-body reset. All of it comes from the same place: a love of depth, clarity, and conscious living.
Wherever you are in your journey, I hope our homes help you feel grounded, welcomed, and alive.

Why they chose this property
This home is quiet, simple, and surprisingly grounding. Guests often say it feels like a place where time slows down — where it’s easier to rest, talk, think, and reconnect with nature or with the people you’re with.
We designed this space with care and restraint. Not to impress, but to soothe. The couch in the living room is handmade by local artists. The artwork was painted by a friend. The books on the shelves weren’t chosen at random — they’re part of a “meaningful library” we curate across all our properties. There’s incense, natural oils, and warm wood tones throughout. We believe details matter.
This house is part of a collection of forest homes we host under the name Dream House in the Gunks. Our team has grown, but our approach hasn’t changed: we value simplicity, authenticity, and thoughtful hospitality. We believe good sleep matters, so we invest in premium bedding. We believe people feel better when they feel cared for — not in flashy ways, but in small, grounding ones.
This isn’t a luxury house. It’s a house with soul. If you're looking for something meaningful, this may be your spot.
