At the Nisqually entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park
The Nisqually Hideaway is your Romantic Retreat or Family Vacation destination. Conveniently located near the Nisqually entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park offering many opportunities for adventure on your next family outing.
A Nature Lovers Paradise. The Nisqually Hideaway is situated on a full acre of forested land and is backed by a large undeveloped parcel. A seasonal creek framed by beautiful Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir trees surrounds your family with the sights and sounds of our natural landscape. Our creek is a tributary to the majestic Nisqually river which can often be heard during peaceful moments rushing in the background as it makes it way from its headwaters at the Nisqually Glacier to the beautiful Puget Sound. Access to the river is available by a short walk through our well forested neighborhood. The abundant wildlife is not shy of people as Nisqually Hideaway's development is situated in a No Shooting Zone and is bordered by Mt. Rainier National Park. Deer, Elk, Chipmunks, Raccoons, Blue jays, and Woodpeckers are frequent visitors. Do not be surprised if one of them approaches you looking for a handout.
A visit to Mt. Rainier National Park is an unparalleled experience. Virtually the entire mountain is accessible during the summer months. Access to Paradise during the winter months is only available via the Nisqually Entrance. The Nisqually Hideaway is located less than a half mile from this entrance ideally suiting it for daily excursions into the Mt. Rainier wilderness.
Winter activities are abundant. Mt Rainier and the surrounding areas offer many great locations for Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, Sledding and Tubing. Do not worry if you lack the gear or experience. Retail and rental outlets in Ashford and Longmire are ready to get you outfitted for fun!
During our glorious spring, summer, and fall the surrounding area offers may unique excursions and the Nisqually Hideaway is your basecamp for outdoor adventure. Nearby Alder and Mineral Lakes are available for fishing, swimming, and boating. The Pioneer Farm Museum is a favorite of children and adults. Here you can escape to another century as you enjoy hands on tours of an 1880's homestead and Ohop Indian village. Milking cows, dipping candles, and spinning wool are a few of the surprises in store. Northwest Trek is a nearby wildlife park focusing on animals native to the Pacific Northwest. You can view bison, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats and more from the safety and comfort of a Northwest Trek Tram. If it is scenic rides that interest, you then the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad is a must do attraction. The Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad departs beneath the snow white cap of Mount Rainier from its Depot and Gift Shop in Elbe, WA. Pulled by vintage locomotives, passengers are charmed as they pass through forest and meadows, next to clear mountain streams and over tall wooden trestles. Another unique way to experience the majesty of the Mt. Rainier area wilderness is on horseback.
