About this property
Solar powered Taos Eco-Gem. Huge views & hot tub
The Huckleberry House is a Taos eco-lux gem, 15 mins from the plaza. Hot tub, dark night stars, sunsets and sunrises that pause time, fast fiber-optic wifi, large open kitchen, hiking from the front door, eclectic boho decor, and fantastic mountain views.
The space
Road Conditions:
We live on a dirt road 3/4 of a mile from the paved highway. The road is very well maintained and you will have no problem driving on this in any vehicle.
About the Huckleberry House
Our home, one of five in an eco-village, was built in 2020. Each home is on 3-5 acres. We are 5 mins from the Rio Grande Bridge, and across the gorge from The Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument.
Hiking, biking, climbing, hot springs, hot air balloons, rafting, skiing, shopping, pickleball, star-gazing, art, culture, food; our home is in the middle of it all.
Note: if you are looking to disconnect, this is the place to be, only Verizon cell service works at the house with a booster. Other carriers may work if wifi calling is enabled, but this is not a guarantee. We have fiber optic internet for zoom calls and streaming.
Weather:
Taos, New Mexico sits at 7000 feet. The winters and summers are both mild. Although we sit next to snowy mountains if there is snow in town it only sticks around for a day or two. We have sunny skies 90% of the year and the summers rarely get above 90°. The landscape is high desert, so if you are coming from humid environs you will be pleasantly surprised by the dry climate which makes the summers delightful, and the snow for skiing some of the best in the country.
Eco-amenities:
The Huckleberry House is a super-insulated passive solar home design with radiant floor heating. There are separate thermostats in every room.
You will be able to fine-tune the warmth to your exact specifications.
The compact 1400 s.f. “Not So Small House” design provides an efficient footprint to live sustainably. A 600’ well provides delicious freshwater, no filter is needed.
Enjoy the hot tub under Orion at night and Taos Mountain sunrises in the morning. We use natural cleaning products and attempt to maintain a chemically sensitive home as much as possible.
Layout:
The kitchen, living, and dining are arranged in an open space floor plan. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Comfort:
There is a Tempurpedic queen bed and high-end memory foam King bed, a chiropractic roller table in the living room, and a Catnapper couch.
There are ceiling fans in every room to help regulate temperature.
Kitchen:
All new stainless steel appliances include a fridge with an ice maker, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and small convection oven. The space is a delightful place to cook with an enormous recycled glass concrete countertop and sweeping mountain views.
Tech:
High-speed fiber-optic WIFI is provided throughout the home. Two flat-screen TVs give you access to Netflix, Hulu, and Prime.
Land:
The house is set on 3 acres with large views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the southernmost range of the Rocky Mountains. The Sage surrounding the house is the same Sage that you can buy at the Pueblo bundled as smudge sticks. Feel free to gather some for yourself. This area was the playground of shepherds for 100 years, now it is the setting for off-grid and sustainable living.
WINTER: A snow-capable vehicle is recommended, but not required. Dirt road is plowed (3/4 mi from hwy), but not the driveway.
Guest access
