Kuau Hale Makai- North Shore Maui - Steps to the beach!

You can't beat the location: Kuau Makai is just a few steps away from Mama's Beach in a quaint and quiet neighborhood where it is still a pleasure to walk about. The house is on 2 levels: there are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom downstairs and another bedroom with bathroom attached upstairs. Gourmet kitchen, dining and living room are also upstairs and so is the lanai with a partial ocean view, perfect to sit in the evenings just shooting the breeze.
Outdoors the house is surrounded by a tropical yard with a hot/cold water outdoor shower, a BBQ and laundry area in the back . Kuau Makai is the perfect setting for a family or a group of friends. Children and adults alike will love watching small fish in the tide pools at Mama' s Beach as well as turtles swimming in the bay.
In 5 minutes you can drive to Ho'okipa Beach Park and watch world-class windsurfers and kite surfers. Even if you are not into water sports it's an amazing spectacle, not to be missed! If you are into water sports, you can surf from the neighborhood beach (intermediate or expert), windsurf, wing surf, SUP, etc.

Mama's Fish House is definitely an experience to be had at least once when on Maui! in the town of Paia, less than a mile from the house, you will find several small restaurants and boutiques and get your groceries at one of best natural food stores on the island, Mana Foods.

We have beautiful trade winds and ceiling fans, but no AC.

A weekly mid-stay clean is mandatory for stays of 2 weeks or longer

A truly breathtaking rental home, serene neighborhood, and proximity to a tranquil beach made it the highlight of our trip. The home was impeccably clean and well maintained in a secluded haven. A short stroll down a trail led to a picturesque sandy beach where several turtles basked in the warm sunshine and the aroma from Mama’s House restaurant tantalizingly beckoned us to indulge in a delightful lunch. Our stay was a five-star experience, we truly savored every moment here and can't wait to create more unforgettable stays in the future.

This property has a great layout for families while retaining some privacy and personal space for parents. We loved starting our days with the short walk to Mama's Beach, and ending them out on the deck listening to waves rolling in. Neighbors are close, but considerate. Greg was very responsive to our questions and Darcy made our arrival simple and departure a breeze. We'd love to stay here again!

Everything was great

There were 5 of us in our party. The house was roomy enough for everyone to have their own space. It was a very nice, comfortable house with all the amenities that we needed. The location in Paia was central to most everywhere else on the island. The beach was very close and easily accessible. We had one small problem with a clogged drain that was remedied very quickly by the property manager. I would highly recommend this house.

Daughter’s Wedding

We flew to Maui for my daughter’s wedding. I searched Hotels, Resorts, and Vacation Rentals for our one week stay. This property was the perfect fit. Pros: Excellent location. Saw the whole island and the drives were minimal from the house. Also, there is a little beach literally 100 yards away. Nicely maintained property. Nice appliances, dual laundry, decks, grassy yard. Host were very easily accessible. Arrival & departure were well explained. Host added an extra night stay at our request quickly when requested. Cons: Parking, pretty tight quarters. (There are five parallel street parking spaces about 100 yards away from the property which worked out excellent). Definitely a great place to stay for all your Maui needs.

Great location

Great location right across from beach and close to town. I was not the first of my group to checkin but they were not happy with the cleanliness. They stripped and washed the sheets again so on my arrival, to be fair, I didn’t see it. But shower didn’t seem very clean and the shower curtain was moldy. There was no hairdryer (which was quickly rectified once I got a hold of the property manager- I had the wrong contact info of the on-site manager but Daniela was great!). I was basically ok with things as I didn’t spend much time at all but the other guests did and felt that it was a little lean on basics (no extras at all like salt and pepper, oil , but this is not necessarily unusual just very nice to haves for many of the places we have stayed and for the nightly costs a little goes a long way) But service from hosts was great as they addressed all my needs in a timely fashion!
