Why “Cabin 14”?
You might be wondering about the name. Well, it holds a special meaning for us. My husband and I were both college athletes—he played baseball and I played hockey. When we first met and swapped stories about our athletic days, we discovered a fun coincidence: we had both worn the same jersey number—14.
Since then, the number 14 has held a special place in our lives, so when it came time to name our getaway, "Cabin 14" was the perfect choice. It’s more than just a number—it’s a nod to our shared history and a reminder of the things we love.

Check in was so easy and the cabin was very clean. The layout was good for both hanging out together and solitude. We loved the outdoor fire pit and the peaceful surroundings!
Perfect getaway!! Loved Pencil Lake (a few minutes away) and Torch Lake (40 min away). Our family enjoyed time together, we sat outside on the spacious back porch, played cornhole (provided) and other games. It was peaceful.
Cabin 14 is spacious, clean, has a great fire pit and is located in an interesting and beautiful part of the state. We enjoyed everything about this stay.
Everything was spectacular. It was so clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the entirety of our stay. There were so many thoughtful and surprising details. I would absolutely stay again.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope to host you again!
Nice Location and Setting, and Extremely Pet Friendly!
Great location and lots of privacy. We especially appreciated all of the pet friendly features - the dog dishes, the gates, even the shovel outside for scooping poop. Plenty of room in the kitchen and pantry for groceries, and every utensil, pot, pan, dish, etc, you could possibly need. We had a very nice stay!

Thank you so much for staying with us! We hope to host you again!
Perfect spot for our long weekend. Nice secluded cabin yet only a 25 minute drive to town. Lakes of the north has many amenities that we made use of. Spent time at the winter activity center snowshoeing the trails. Then took a few hour break from the cold and played in the indoor pool. The cabin was great had everything we needed for our stay. Very clean and cozy. A big plus for us was being able to bring our dogs. Had a great stay and look forward to a possible return.
Owner is fabulous. Clean with all amenities you could need. Would go back again. It rained once and we got to use the clubhouse pool for a few and the kids really enjoyed it. Nice private lakes close by. Quiet and good for our four legged furry family member too! Thanks Marlowe for giving us recommendations as well!

Thank you so much! It was great hosting you and your family!
Lovely little slice of sky gazing peace and quiet!
We primarily come 'up north' for stargazing and loved the backyard for this! I personally love the firepit and the cute string lights too, just have to unplug them for star viewing. The beds were COMFY, COZY blankets galore. Little details provided, like a fan (bedroom one was not working though), a mirror, and cute things like beds/bowls for the dog made it feel like home much faster. We wished we had more time there, but will look back on the memories fondly and hope to return some time!
We love staying in Lakes of the North. Two beaches, great pool area and you can ride your ORV right to the trail from the house! House was clean and had everything you need. Had a nice fire pit for fires in evenings. We did some grilling and some cooking and also went to our favorite restaurant the Hide-A-way bar twice, we love riding our ORV there straight from the trails and they accept you dirty and all lol their pizza is my daughters favorite. Thank you for a great week.

The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The woods that surrounded the cabin made it feel very private. Having direct access to the ORV trails was very nice. As well, the grand kids enjoyed the clubhouse pool. We did have issue with entry to the pool clubhouse, but the property manager took of care it immediately. I would only recommend that clubhouse property team be more inviting to the guest. I think they have attitude about guest that needs to be corrected. This is a great vacation property...
Exceptional hosts, beautiful house, great location for peace
If it was possible to rate a 10-star host, Marlowe would earn one! Her description of the house and property were spot on. The home was beautiful and welcoming as soon we arrived. More than enough supplies and dishes for a family of four and two dogs. The beds were comfortable and the instructions for the AC were easy to follow.
The house is about two miles from two very nice private lakes with great swimming and opportunities. It's an easy hour drive to rock hunting on Lake Michigan or a half hour to the lake town of Boyne City. Gaylord is only 15 minutes with all its golf and Bavarian atmosphere.
Highly recommended for families, friends, and anybody looking for a quiet time away with ready access to city life as needed.

The cabin was beautiful. Set up great for a family with kids and dogs. Beautiful porch that was hard to fully enjoy because their septic was backing up outside. We noticed the smell when we arrived on July 21st. We didn’t spend much time in the yard in that area because we busy the first few days upon arrival. We took the dogs outside but not in that area. Wednesday the kids noticed white stuff on the ground and water/sewage coming up from the ground. We then realized where the smell was coming from and called right away. They had someone there the next day, septic savage. They stated that this is an ongoing issue at that house. They said it is a drain issue that needs fixed.

We completely understand your frustration and sincerely apologize again for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We never want a guest to have to deal with something like this, and I appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
I also want to clarify that as soon as we were made aware of the issue, we acted quickly to have it resolved. While I understand what the septic service may have mentioned, this was not a known or recurring problem prior to your stay.
The refund and 1 day pool passes(fee covered by us) issued as a gesture of goodwill, reflecting how seriously we take this situation and your overall experience.
We are a young family of 7, one baby boy and four fur children. Grand Rapids, MI is home for us. Originally, I grew up in Marquette, MI and my husband, Adam, in Ann Arbor, MI. We both love being outdoors, especially sharing Northern Michigan with our son Jet. There is something special about fresh air. Whether it is taking a hike, exploring in our SxS, or out snowmobiling you will find us anywhere but in front of a TV. If we are not at our cabin, you will catch us at Silver Lake Sand Dunes in our SXS, camping at Hoffmaster State Park, or downtown Grand Rapids enjoying the great food/drink.
Best, Adam, Marlowe and Jet
