Best Rental Cottage in Lake Macatawa! Perfect for families

This beachfront cottage is the absolute best in the Lake Macatawa area. From the spacious deck, it’s just three steps to the beautiful beach of Lake Michigan. Lake Macatawa is only a couple of hundred yards on the other side.

The cottage is located in a private, gated enclave of luxurious homes. It has four bedrooms, and sleeps ten. It has been recently remodeled and is extremely well equipped for your enjoyment.

If you bring a boat, docking is available on Lake Macatawa (at an additional charge)

Macatawa Beach on the shores of Lake Michigan is possibly the most picturesque of all places on the "Big Lake". Picture this: a National Landmark Red Lighthouse, beaches that rival the best that Florida has to offer, a gated community on a small peninsula, Lake Macatawa behind the cottages no more than 200 yards away. The Victorian cottages that dot this shore line, the cool breezes off the Lake keeping temperatures always pleasant, even on the hottest of August days make this location the perfect get away place.

L.Frank Baum, the author of the Wizard of Oz knew of this spot one hundred years ago. The "Dorothy" from his book was named for one of the little girls there.

From the deck, it’s entertaining to watch ocean going freighters that travel once or twice a day past the light house, through the channel and then four miles further East docking at the town of Holland.

The village of Sagutuck is eight miles South. It’s filled with special shops and restaurants. The Town of Holland itself is unusually quaint and was judged to be the second most friendly community in America.

The Dutch settled Western Michigan in the 1800's........it is fun to watch how some of their different attitudes remain to this day. The Amway owners spend their summers there as do many from St. Louis, Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago (two hours by car away), Grand Rapids and even from places in Pennsylvania, Texas and beyond.

The location absolutely can’t be beat and the accommodations were perfect for our extended family. Just be aware that if you have anyone with mobility issues that there is a couple minute walk from the parking spot to the cottage and the stairs might be a challenge. Overall though, cannot recommend highly enough

A timeless get-away...

Every now and then you come across a host who is extra special, who clearly enjoys their role, and makes you feel right at home - Tony Todd is that person. His warm energy is immediately felt and he is an incredible host who strikes the right balance of being helpful while allowing for privacy. The space itself is incredibly comfortable with multiple thoughtful touches scattered throughout. We cant wait to come back!

Wonderful Location/Very Helpful Host

We loved our getaway in Holland/Lake Macatawa! This property has the most beautiful beach and was convenient to everything we wanted to see in Holland and Saugatuck! We woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise and went to sleep with an even more beautiful sunset! I felt an added layer of security because we were in a gated community. Tony/our host was always available to answer questions and was very helpful. We will be back!!

Nice location but lots of mechanical issues

Great location, nice owner but the property had too many mechanical issues. No heat (it was 48 degrees when we arrived) and took 3 attempts from HVAC repair to fix it. No hot water for 3 days. Broken shower and toilet. No internet. Could not reach owner to resolve issues (nor could vrbo support).

Lovely stay in an absolutely amazing location!

We enjoyed a beautiful fall getaway in this lovely home. The morning and evening views, ease of beach access, and community cannot be beat. Tony's a great host and we had a lovely time enjoying fall in Macatawa!

The location and views are amazing. Tony was a very good communicator; called right after booking, a week before our stay, and on the first night to make sure everything was going well. Beach is right out the front door. Kids and dog loved it! Beach is shared with community but is huge and there is plenty of room in the middle of the day; in the early mornings it was empty and walks along the water with the dog were serene. House was very clean and well stocked. Macatawa is super cute with the houses all being very close to each other, but it was very quiet and relaxing. Phone reception was spotty, but wifi was top notch! It was towards the end of the summer season so house could probably use a little maintenance: minor touch up paint, minor toilet repairs, and adding some dimmer switches would be appreciated. One bonus we didn't expect: the gas fireplace; our first night it was cold and rainy and it was pleasant to sit by a warm fire.

We had a family reunion last week and had a fantastic week of perfect Beach weather. The location can't be beat! We were a little disappointed in the cleanliness of the cottage, but it didn't dampen our fun!

Wonderful Vacation

We had a wonderful time at the propery. It included all the amenities you could want. Kitchen was well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. We stayed with our adult children, grandchildren and dogs. The beach is right in front of the front deck which was incredible. The sound of the waves would lull you to sleep. The owner was incredible and always available to answer any questions we had. Will hopefully be back next time we are in Michigan.

Beautiful home with everything you need!

Everything about this stay was perfect... the host, Tony Todd, was easy to get ahold of and checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. The house was very clean upon arrival. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed... utensils, cookware, etc. You cannot beat the view!! The house is right on the water and the beach was amazing. Short drive to Holland, which had a cute downtown area. We will definitely try to come back!

Great quiet getaway

Wonderful Trip

We absolutely loved our time at this fabulous cottage. The beach is even better than pics depict. Just a wonderful place to swim and laze in the water. We had some truly wonderful evenings watching the sunset on the patio. Highly recommended!

Fantastic property!

Beautiful lake house. We had a fun time. The view of Lake Michigan was lovely and Lake Macatawa plus the light house was only a short walk . A lot of space for a large groups to enjoy. The neighborhood was quiet but close to groceries and restaurants. The kitchen was fully stocked for cookware. Beach toys, chairs, towels, and a grill were a nice added feature. Lots of paths for riding bicycles and a beautiful large sandy beach. Location was A+. Would love to stay here again!

Location, Location, Location!!

Loved the location, steps from the sand and beautiful sunsets every night. Little Red Lighthouse so close and fun watching the boats and ships coming and going into the harbor. A few needed repairs but I believe they will be taken care of soon.

Beautiful beach house

We rented this house for a mom's weekend away and it was perfect! The view is beautiful and the house was well equipped. Not a far drive to downtown Holland and parks/trails. Owner has a cottage next door and was helpful throughout our stay.

We had a great time at this beautiful lake house. The view of Lake Michigan was lovely and Lake Macatawa was only a short walk out the back. The beach was clean and sandy (not rocky). Tons of space for a large family to enjoy. The neighborhood was quiet and private but close to groceries and restaurants. Would love to stay here again!

Perfect Getaway

This house in Macatawa was incredible! The pictures do not do it justice. Beautiful location on the beach. Close to adorable lake communities and plenty of restaurants. 10/10 would recommend. Plan to rent again next year!
