A Lot Like Paradise. Quiet. Peaceful. Cozy. Spacious.
Rustic cottage on on Little River, a lovely trout stream that swishes around rocks. Great place for kids to play! Lake across the street. Canoe. Woods all around. Very quiet except for hush of river. Nice deck extends almost to the river. Charcoal grill. In all ways cozy and pleasant. Nice for couples, writers, artists, travelers, families, and pets—a place for quiet, peaceful people. About the lake: There's no beach. Access is just a narrow path down to the water. The space You have the house to yourself except, on a basement level, there is an art studio that might have one person (the property owner) in it, quietly painting a picture. But that space is completely separate from the guest space, with its own separate entrance. You won't need to go there, and no one will need to go into the guest area. There is a lockable door between the two areas.
The living space is on two floors. Downstairs: living room, dining room, kitchen, all essentially one space. Upstairs, a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a loft area with two single beds, and a bathroom.
There are air conditioners in the bedroom and living room. They are removed in October and reinstalled in May.
The space is NOT "childproof." Guest access Guests can drive right up to the door, but there are about 10 stairs up to the door. Exception: If there's a lot of snow, a car can't get to the cottage until our snow plow guy gets here, so it will be a 200 ft. walk. Other things to note No arrivals on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.
If you're staying a long time and would like a cleaning service once in a while, we can have someone come in for $85. Rental price includes clean sheets once a week. In the winter, you can feed a wood stove, if you want, but a gas heater is the main source of heat. A/C in bedroom and living room but only May through Sept. We welcome pets and children. If you'd like to make a small campfire to cook marshmallows or weenies, you can do that.
• Wifi speed is around 57 mbps.
• You will be glad if you arrive with your food rather than arrive and then have to go out to buy food. We'll give you directions to the nearest supermarket, but it's 15 minutes away. (Stop & Shop in Norwichtown, just off Interstate 395.)
• It's easy to miss our driveway, and it can be hard to see the number 18 painted on a rock at the end of the driveway. The thing to look for is the little bridge. If the lake is on your right, the driveway is on your left immediately after the bridge. If the lake is on your left, the driveway is on your right, just before the bridge. It's a long driveway going down hill. There is a large birdhouse / lighthouse (with a little light on top) on a tall pole near the road in front of the house.
• If you want to grill, we have a charcoal grill. Don't forget to bring charcoal.
• We provide towels and soap. Towels are for people, not dogs.
• The kitchen has most of the basics you'll need, such as salt, pepper, sugar, coffee machine filters, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, napkins, dish soap, cleaning supplies, etc. Stove, oven, fridge, and microwave. If you want to know about something specific, just ask.
• We provide sheets, towels, soap, toilet paper. You get clean sheets and towels once per week, but after a week, you have to make your own bed.
• Three things we don't have: a television, a dishwasher, a washing machine. There is a laundromat about three miles away.
• In the event of a snowstorm, we will try to get plowed out right away, but we can't promise it. Guests are responsible for cleaning snow and ice from deck and stairs.

Renee was a great guest. Nice guy. No problems at all. Quiet, Left the place very clean. Welcome back here anytime. Highly recommended as a VRBO guest.
The cottage on Little River was all we could have asked for--comfortable, roomy, beautifully decorated and full of delightful surprises to entertain us. There are puzzles and games and a wonderfully eclectic set of books(some written by Glenn, the host!) and of course the river and woods. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning.

thank you, Kathy! it was a pleasure having you here, and I hope you can come back sometime so maybe we can spend a little time together, I think we have much in common.
Everything about this trip was perfect. From the reason we were there (meeting our newborn grandson) to the serene atmosphere of our accommodations. Glenn was a great host and rapidly responded to any of our questions.
Don’t hesitate to secure your reservation, I know we will be returning!
Cheers!

Looking for a quiet, relaxing and very peaceful place to stay….look no further. This little gem in the woods was a perfect holiday getaway for my daughter and me. Glenn was a fantastic host. Very responsive, and kind. We really enjoyed our stay and will be coming back without a doubt. If you enjoy a rural setting, along a river then this is the perfect place! Thanks again, Glenn!

Leah was a fine guest, as good as guests get. Nice person, quiet, no prob less whatsoever, and she left the place immaculate, which we really appreciate. She is more than welcome back anytime.
Glenn was very friendly and helpful. The property gave us the opportunity to be away from everything while still being able to drive and get anything we needed. We loved having the creek right outside, but unfortunately there was record flooding going on. Be sure to check for ticks if you are going for a walk in the woods!
Glenn was a very nice host, Cottage was clean and nice. Lots of steps, please be aware sleeping and bathroom are on on the second level. It fit our need perfectly. Probably wont use vrbo again But would stay here. No problem with mosquitoes.

Ken and family were good guests. Friendly and respectful of the property. No problems whatsoever, and they left the place v very clean. Welcome back anytime.
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is warm and welcoming, sitting right beside a small stream. It was too chilly to have the windows open at night, but falling asleep to the sound of running water would be lovely on summer nights.
The cabin is fully set up for your stay; the hosts even provided spices, coffee, and popcorn in the kitchen. It's rustic livingroom, delightfully complete with woodstove for cold weather, is comfortable and inviting.
Glenn is a great host, and quickly responded to our reservation request and other texts. He was also happy to answer questions about the area and thing to do nearby.
I highly recommend a stay at this property. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Why they chose this property
Very rural, very quiet, woods all around, and the trout-stocked Little River running right beside the house.
