Reservation canceled by owner day of stay

We booked this house with a group of friends. On the day of our reservation the owner called and canceled stating he didn't know about the booking and that it should have been blocked out. We had to book hotels further away and won't get our refund for 7-10 days.

Owner wanted me to stay in home with another previous guest that never left.

Arrived in Denver called owner to find out details, Owner told me that he was going to contact me but didn't. Owner told me that instead of a 4 bedroom home to rent I will only get only 3. He let previous guest sign up for another month. To my horror who does that. My family would have to share a house with someone we didn't know. Owner said he can't ask the other guest to leave. I called VRBO and owner agreed to give me back my total rental fee and of course I had to rush and look for another house and paid more than I wanted to. This was a nightmare that came true. I rate this 0.
