6/10 Okay

Cozy little bunglow
The house itself wasn't too bad, there needs to be a lot of updates done to the home especially new furniture and TVs in the bedrooms. They're also need to be better beds my back and side hurt every morning when I woke up from those beds. The couch was a futon which slanted so didn't make it comfortable sitting in it.

Great space!
This two bedroom was perfect for a long beach weekend! Open kitchen and living space, rooms were comfortable! Location was great, walking distance to a few restaurants. Short drive to beach accesses. Thanks for the relaxing get away!

Terrible maintenance and management
The place might be decent if it were taken care of and managed well, but that is not the case. The kitchen was barely stocked with several of the pans too rusty to use. The Roku did not work (probably just remote batteries, but we brought our own and used it instead). Those were minor problems though compared to the HVAC issue. It was early April with high temperatures in the 60s and low 70s outside, but we would come home to a home at 86 degrees inside and could not get it cooled with air condition to less than 78 - and that was in the main room with the ceiling fan. The bedrooms had no ventilation and were even hotter and we had instructions to not open windows because they were storm sealed. After two nights of very poor sleep, we realized what was going on and contacted the management company, Vacasa. They send you to a call center who said they would reach out to the local branch, and we never heard anything after that. Apparently someone came to check it out, but they never told us they were coming, so we didn’t know to be there or to have our dogs with us. Because the dogs were there, they would not enter. But did anyone contact us to tell us this? No, we had to call the call center again with another complaint to find that out. So they sent someone again without contact beforehand, but luckily we were there. This guy turned on the A/C and decided that since it was blowing (warm) air, it must be ok. He left without another word, so we had to call and complain again. Finally they called an HVAC person and very luckily they showed up while we were back at the unit for lunch. The HVAC people were very helpful and quickly fixed the problem. However, we never heard from the Vacasa again. We had requested compensation given that we rented a place to sleep and had very poor sleep for three nights, plus our vacation was being turned into a stressful fight to get some help. I suspect that is why they never contacted us, and also hence why they are getting a terrible review from me. So in conclusion, I strongly recommend against not only this place but anything else in the Outer Banks managed by Vacasa.
