About this property
Views for Days – Ocean Casita Near Surfer Town
Views for Days Above Dominical Beach
Perched just 200 meters from the Pacific, this three-bedroom, three-bath home is the perfect blend of comfort and authentic Costa Rica. With sweeping 180° views, Casa Mira Mar hovers over the waves of Dominical Beach and offers a front-row seat to unforgettable sunsets. The house sits just outside the cool surfer town of Dominical, known for its laid-back vibe, great waves, and lively local scene.
The Location
From the house, you’re minutes from Playa Dominical and Playa Dominicalito, less than 5 minutes from the Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge, and only 20 minutes from the famous Whale’s Tail National Park. Manuel Antonio National Park makes an easy 45-minute day trip, while Corcovado and the Osa Peninsula are close enough for a weekend adventure.
The Home
The heart of the house is the spacious covered deck, where guests naturally gather to lounge, dine, or just soak up the views. Downstairs, an outdoor patio offers another ocean-facing perch for watching the sunset with a drink in hand. A small private pool provides a refreshing spot to cool off between beach trips.
Inside, the home features two full kitchens stocked for cooking tropical meals, and furnishings crafted from locally made hardwoods that add warmth and character. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, and from every bed you can wake to the sound of waves and a panoramic view of the ocean.
Family-Friendly & Relaxed
Perfect for families, couples, or friends, the upstairs deck is fully baby-proofed, and the lush yard is filled with mango, citrus, coconut palms, and flowers. Wildlife is abundant, from colorful parakeets to monkeys who love the papayas.
Beaches & Access
While the beach is a short walk down the hill and across the street, we recommend driving unless you’re sure-footed, as the gravel road is steep. Within minutes you’ll find multiple beaches where you can park under shady sea almond trees and watch the surf roll in.
This is not luxury — it’s authentic Costa Rica at its best. A relaxed, family-friendly home base with views for days, surf town charm, and adventure all around.

About the host
Hosted by Jane and Ryan Lubbers

I first came to Costa Rica as an English Teacher back in 1998. I was fresh out of college and was interested in exploring the planet and learning Spanish. Costa Rica proved to be the most ideal place on earth for me. Its the perfect nature lover's paradise. I love the biological diversity, tropical cuisine and most all i have come to love and respect the people of Costa Rica. I have traveled the country extensively and can give advice on all Costa Rican travel plans.
Why they chose this property
Although Costa Rica has many great beaches, we love Dominical the best. The town is very manageable and the house is a 5 minute drive to shopping, banks, tours, surfing restaurants, bars, night life and a national park. The house itself is not like other houses which are 15 minutes drive from the ocean. This casita is so close to everything and that just makes more beach time and less car time which I like on vacation. The mountains meet the ocean here like nowhere else in Costa Rica. You can be swimming in the ocean at Dominicalito beach and walk 5 minutes up the hill and be bathing under a 20 foot waterfall at posa azul. I also feel safe in Dominical. I like the eclectic crowd and the tranquillo vibe. Its a magical spot in the world and I feel good when I'm there drinking a pipa (coconut water) on the beach.
What makes this property unique
Being a two minute walk from a secluded beach is the most unique aspect of this home. The casita is so close to Playa Dominicalito, Playa Dominical, Hacienda Baru and Posa Azul Waterfall and swimming hole. Being so close to the ocean and having an ocean view are priceless. Also being so close to the great restaurants, grocery stores and tour operators of Dominical is very convenient. Its a superb house and location. Also, the house has a guest book that has descriptions of many activities to do in the area. That way each visitor can add his/her input and we can all learn from those experiences making our short time there more enjoyable. Its like a house journal that holds the memories and experiences of all who enjoy themselves there and want to share their stories.
