We had a wonderful stay!

We sought a relaxing getaway and found ourselves in an extremely picturesque environment. While the weather cooperated beautifully for us the entire stay, the ease of working with the host and their gracious gifts of hospitality and privacy rounded out a very special experience. The cottage is self-contained and small but intimate and perfect for a twosome. I can highly recommend this property and these hosts!

Had a great time . Area is so peaceful. If you like quiet areas an nature this is for you . Tons of different birds to watch very quiet river not many boats got to enjoy watching fish jumping out of the river all day . Home was clean and everything was in great shape ,the crab shack is a bonus area . You won’t regret your visit to this.place .

Great stay!

The cottage was small and sweet; great view at river's edge. LOTS of bugs attracted to lights at night, and door hard to close, but otherwise good location easy enough drive to places of interest. Loved the access to extra room at Crab Shack room! Port Royal is cute tiny town with interesting history. Would recommend and return!

Peaceful getaway

After a hectic schedule, it was wonderful to retreat to this peaceful property right on the river. We enjoyed going down to the river, sitting or watching TV in the A/C in the Crab Shack, and exploring the restaurants and shops in nearby Port Royal.

Anniversary getaway

This is the cutest little cottage off the lake. It is definitely a serene, quiet area. We brought our inflatable paddle boards and enjoyed paddling along the lake. My husband also enjoyed fishing. It was a great break from our busy lives for a few days. The cottage is very clean and nicely updated.

Fishing on the River

Our family stayed here for a weekend trip. The cottage allowed me to fish in the evenings/nights and wasn’t too far of a drive for places my wife and kids enjoyed (Fredericksburg and Kings Dominion). I chose this place so I could catch catfish out of the Rappahannock River and had great success. In two days/nights I caught over 50 Blue Catfish. Would definitely stay here again.

We were not ready to leave!

This was the perfect getaway! To start, Elyse was always ready to answer any questions I had about the property and any other questions I had. She is very helpful. The instructions for check in were very clear and easy to follow. When we got there, driving up and seeing the river was so exciting. The cottage was so warm and welcoming. Perfect space for us two. We loved sitting on the patio and listening to the birds and the water from the river. We were so relaxed here. The crab shack was so adorable. Everything was so thoughtfully placed. The neighbors were so nice. It was all around an amazing stay. We can not wait to come back and celebrate again next year!

Valentine's Getaway

I returned to P&E for a micro getaway with my husband. And it was just MAGICAL. The tranquility you'll find at this property is unmatched. The views are incredible and the accessibility to amazing food is invaluable. You won't find a more gracious and accommodating host than Elyse. If I needed anything she was so fast to respond! Sweet Spot!

Clean and comfortable and the owner is so nice. Beautiful, peaceful views. Photos and description are accurate. Good water pressure and firm bed. Convenient to local antique shops and a few good restaurants.

Perfect Spot

Just as advertised, this was the perfect spot for quiet and beauty. Though you have neighbors, it's still very private. The view is amazing. The owner was gracious and helpful when I couldn't figure out the keypad. Look forward to going again!

Great escape

Loved staying by the water and how relaxing this place is. Saw a pair of bald eagles out front and had goldfinches land on our side table. The view is amazing and the layout worked great for us. A clean, simple room that is cool and comfortable. Outside the crab shack was a nice place to hang out. Host was very responsive and helped us out when we left school me of our things behind. Highly recommend!

Solo vacay

This property did not disappoint!! I had the time of my life!! It was easy to find, I was able to bring my kayak and fish, the fishing was great, the host was easily reachable, and the neighbor was super nice! Couldn't have asked for a better 1st solo vacay!

Relaxing stay

We had a wonderful time at your cottage. My husband really enjoyed the fishing at the river. I loved relaxing by the river with a book while he fished. It is so tranquil there. We enjoyed watching the eagles and other birds dive fishing. Crab shack was ok. We really had no need for it though. The cottage was perfect. Everything we needed was there and it’s very cute. Quiet weekend on the water

Elyse's place was perfect for what I wanted, a quiet weekend by myself, where I could hang out by the river and watch wildlife. The place is perfect for one person, very clean, and the outside spaces are great, though you will need bug repellent! The river entry does not have a dock, and is quite shallow, with many weeds, so i dont know how well something with a motor would do, but it was fine for my paddleboard. One thing that is not obvious from the listing is that the hill from the house to the river is quite steep, and might pose a problem for folks with mobility issues.

A perfect quiet getaway

The unit was cute and comfortable. The view of the river from the Adirondack chairs while drinkijg coffee in the morning was a great start to the day. If youre looking to get away and relax this is a great place to stay!

60th Birthday Getaway!

Lovely location and super cute guest house & 'crab shack' (IFKYK!) with patio. Paddle boat for use was a super fun bonus! Watched bald eagles and fly fished. Also enjoyed Port Royal for shopping and lunch. Quiet, clean. Would stay again. Thank you P&E Riverfront Cabin.
