Welcome to Sarkiki Reef and one of the best sandy beaches in Belize.

Whether you dream of peaceful time on the beach, warm ocean swimming, diving on the world’s second longest barrier reef or exploring ancient Mayan ruins, Sarkiki serves as your perfect base. Our large 3 level, eco-friendly, waterfront villa offers stunning ocean views from large decks on each level and ocean and mountain views from the roof top deck.

Fishing, snorkeling and diving are easily accessible or take a jungle river tour on the beautiful Sittee River all nearby and easily arranged.

We can provide an extra single bed and/or crib as needed and subject to availability. Please contact us if either of these are needed.

We found our stay quite nice! However, the host wasn't entirely respectful of boundaries and walked around the resort shirtless just about every day. He was quite nice and but at times felt like we were being 'babysat'. The facility was clean and kept up. The staff were impeccably kind and even cut coconuts for us to have fresh coconut water on the beach! All in all, I would recommend Sarkiki for it's simplicity and remote area. It's not amenity heavy but for us we really enjoyed not having all the bells and whistles to relax and disconnect.

Overall, the renovated unit was roomy with lots of potential. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The location is remote but not too far from the town of Hopkins. The resort is next door to a local bar but the bar was only open for a few days during the week. The pool is amazing and well kept. The beach had seagrass during the time of our stay but the staff tries to remove it daily. The beach was sandy not rocky with coral as are most beaches north of Hopkins.

Fantastic Winter Getaway

Epi and everyone else on the property were very friendly and happy to share information and make suggestions on places to see. Linda was very responsive to all communications. The condo was great and the location was perfect!

Loved our stay at Sarkiki!

We ended up extending our stay we enjoyed it so much. The location is perfect a quick bike ride into town but far enough to be quiet. Having Mango Beach Bar next door was great…easy to get burgers and rum punch on our lazy days at the villa. I would recommend Sarkiki.

Wonderful beachfront property

We really enjoyed the property and staff. The unit was very clean, roomy, and fit all our needs. It was nice also have a bar/restaurant so close. The staff were very friendly and willing to offer suggestions and information for local excursions. Thank you!

It was truly a picture perfect location. We loved the view and proximity to the beach. The pool was steps away from our apt. The next door beach bar/restaurant was wonderful in its location and food. The staff was very accommodating. We will only stay there on any future visits to this beautiful country.

Great property

Overall great place to stay. Nice pool, great upkeep, friendly staff. Gave the location 4/5 because it's quite a ways from most restaurants and stores, and the road from Hopkins to the property is quite rough (First week of Feb, just after rainy season and it was still raining daily, so wetter than usual). The unit itself could have used a couple of things in the kitchen (second larger frying pan, lid for frying pan, small bowls), and more comfortable furniture. One bed was quite firm and comfortable, the other was soft and not great. I'd go back.

Quiet, with a beautiful views.

Very quiet. Beautiful ocean views. Dirt road was bumpy to get our stay. Signage was very small. We passed it twice. No water pressure. Tiny bugs, not bed bugs. Over all, it was a beautiful stay. I really enjoyed the environment.

Perfection!

We loved this spot! Quiet and a little out of the way but perfect! We spent many hours in the hammocks. We cooked fresh fish that the owner helped us get and had a few meals at Mango’s next door. Staff was awesome! We rode bikes into town, but if you plan to be out a night, rent a golf cart or car because you don’t want to be riding at night since it’s pretty dark on the road and the road is partially unpaved. We will be back next year!! It’s a gem!!

This is a basic no frills, partially furnished, partially finished small resort with a beautiful ocean front setting and hard working local staff. The units are quite small, and there are extra charges for over 2 people per unit. Hopkins however is a lovely community we thoroughly enjoyed.

Amazing property

We had an amazing vacation. The sea was so warm and we loved being able to walk out on the sand bar to watch a mommy manatee and her baby feeding. Very special moment! The pool was refreshing. The unit was a bit tired but met all of our needs. Epi and Manuel were very attentive and friendly. The only disappointment was Mangos restaurant next door had just closed before we arrived for their 2 week vacation. My husband and I stayed at Sarkiki Resort for 10 days. It was absolutely wonderful. The condo was clean, the pool was foot steps away and the Carribean was so warm. Everything in the description was exactly what you get. Linda and Mike were great, everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful. Hopkins is a great place to visit. Linda recommended wonderful resturants, food in Hopkins is the best in the world. We recommend Belize highly, and of course staying at Sarkiki Resort is a must. Very secure, safe place to be. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the foliage is absolutely breath taking.

We very much enjoyed our first stay in Belize even though we had rainy weather 5 out of the 6 days. (June is rainy season????) Staff accommodated our late arrival supplying us with coffee and a few things out of their own kitchen (Thank you so much) for the next day since the stores were already closed when we went through. The roads were horrendous and the rain made them even worse, but we expect some of those things in foreign countries. Beach and pool right out side our unit and everything we needed inside. I could give you 5 stars except for the weather which I know you can't control.

Stay here and you’ll regret it. Horrible location.

Honest review/well traveled. Booked for one week, stayed one day and left. This place is horrible. 15 units and we were the only ones there. Restaurant bar next-door was closed for four days straight. We had to go into town on a nasty dirt road over many- many speed bumps and old ship ropes to get food or water. No air conditioning in main part of Condo. Only in the bedrooms. No living area to sit in. Just a hard wooden bench by the front door. This place is a joke, not even a one star motel. Pool was dirty, cloudy and not usable. I could go on, but what’s the use? Vrbo absolutely no help when you call them. Save your time and don’t try. They won’t help with anything. It’s all about the money. We lost the money we paid for the week And somewhere else. Life is too short. Stay away from this place at all cost.

Wonderful!

My wife and I spent a week at Sarkiki Reef in April and had a wonderful time. We had stayed here once before, several years ago, and were keen to come back. It did not disappoint! The condo is very spacious, on two levels, both with patios, and a third patio on the roof with great views out over the garden, pool, beach and the Caribbean. The line of tiny islands that make up the South Water Cayes was visible on the horizon. The condo is well equipped and had all the basics. The wifi functioned ok for basic purposes. The staff are excellent - friendly, courteous, helpful. If you want a fresh coconut straight from the tree, just ask! We ate breakfast on the patio each morning, and spent quite a bit of time at the pool, relaxing in the sun, swimming, and watching the iguanas. The grounds are attractive and well maintained. The beach is lovely. The sea is quite shallow close to shore, so you need to walk out until it is deep enough to swim. Since our first visit the Mango beach bar has opened right next to the Sarkiki complex. It's very quiet and casual, and we made good use of it. The marina is close by and there is a good restaurant there, too. Otherwise the condo is some distance south of the main village, shops and facilities of Hopkins. We rented a car and drove from Belize airport (approx two and a half hours), and were glad to have our own transportation. We spent two days diving and snorkeling with Seemore Adventures (their little office is one of the first buildings you come to when you drive back into Hopkins (as long as you ignore the one-way signs!!) We also spent two half days in the nearby Cockscomb Forest Reserve and the Mayflower Bokawina Reserve. Lovely tropical rain forest scenery with some great walks. Sarkiki is definitely one of our favorite places, and we hope to be back again.

Fantastic Vacation!

This was absolutely one of the most amazing vacations we have ever taken...mainly due to the staff of Epi and Manuel, who are of Mayan heritage and very proud of it! Epi arranged a snorkeling trip with Patrick at the Sittee River Marina (1/2 mile away with a very nice restaurant), brought us back beer from town, and even washed our vehicle before we left! We rented a car from Belize City and drove the almost 3 hours to Hopkins. The main roads are paved, so the trip was relaxing and we were able to just take in the countryside. Epi greeted us and showed us to our unit, which is rather modest in American standards but completely adequate (stocked with everything we needed). As it turned out, we were the only guests there for the entire 8 days. Therefore, we were fortunate enough to really get to know the staff. Manuel is an official tour guide, so we went on 3 different excursions with him. We hiked Antelope Falls in Mayflower National Park (there is a pristine swimming hole at the TOP of the waterfall--the hike is strenuous, but worth it when you get there!). We drove to Xunantunich, which is a very impressive Mayan ruin. What's visible is amazing, but what's incredible is what's under your feet that's not yet been excavated. Then he took us to his home area of Punta Gorda. It's just a completely different area from Hopkins. He took us to swim in the river, and we witnessed 2 ladies doing their laundry in the river with rocks. It's fascinating and humbling! There are more restaurants than we could possibly eat at in the area. Tina's was the most authentic that we tried (had barracuda and gibnut!). We drove to Plancencia twice. This is a more "touresty" area, but a nice change of pace. Just make sure you find the "sidewalk" on the ocean side of the road. This is where a lot of the shops and restaurants are. My daughter is into geocaching, and we even found a geocache in Placencia! That made her trip. I was so sad for this vacation to end. We had fabulous weather and a fabulous time.

WORST VACATION EVER!!!! SAND FLEAS, TRASHY BEACHES, POOR ACCOMMODATIONS

I HAVE NEVER had to write a bad review before, but I don't know what resort guests of the 5 star ratings stayed in but it wasn't the Sarkiki we stayed in. We didn't do enough research & depended on raving reviews we read here on VRBO. BEWARE! This was anything but a resort. It's a third world country so don't expect much unless you go to a TRUE 5-star resort. Our reservation was for 30 days with our elderly aunt & uncle who have stayed all over the world in various levels of accommodations. WE ALL WERE SO DISAPPOINTED! We finally cut our stay short by a few days just to be able to see other parts of the country without driving 2-3 hours to see the sites. FIRST, the good points in the condo...The mgr tried to help us as much as possible, but only so much she could do. The view is almost as you see in pictures, seems most of the pictures were taken 9-10 years ago before palm trees grew (don't believe everything you see), condo & linens are clean, plenty of towels which we had to get ourselves AND were UPGRADED by owner to a more spacious unit. WE WERE READY TO LEAVE. The first unit had no place for 4 people to sit comfortably & watch television. Space was cramped, one settee (HARD 2-seater, ). Where two more people sit to watch TV?...hard dinette chairs. Beds are most uncomfortable. New OUTSIDE wooden table/chairs arrived while we were there but no pads...most uncomfortable. THERE IS A REASON only 2 pictures of the inside of the condos. Condos are BARE BONES & FEW amenities; no spices (were told spoil quickly) NO salt, pepper, paper towels; later there was one paddle board with no paddle, no kayaks (rent them), complex is remote (you have to drive 3-4 hours from airport (4-5 miles ON rough, bumpy dirt road - 20 min. from town), crockpot, measuring cup available but ask; upholstery was DIRTY (used towels on seating); NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL, noisy ongoing SUB-STANDARD maintenance, front door lock did not operate properly, screen doors rusty, deck above condo hot & unusable, no shade; SAND FLEAS are horrendous! SANDY BEACH - beautiful in front of complex...rest is mostly TRASHY. We took a snorkel tour, $60/person and very few fish. We were told it was better than the great barrier reef by the mgr. NOT! I COULD GO ON, BUT WE WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. Try in 10 years, now is not the time to spend 30 days there. WE AREN'T THE ONLY ONES WHO COMPLAINED & WE ARE TOLERANT OF UNPLEASANT SITUATIONS. WE MADE THE BEST OF IT BUT IT WAS BY FAR OUR WORST VACATION EVER!

Beautiful, welcoming & great location!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sarkiki! Everyone was warm and welcoming! It was awesome getting first hand advice on places to eat and places to explore! We especially enjoyed our fishing and snorkeling trip on Patrick’s boat with Captain Jack which Linda arranged for us. Having Mangos right next door was great in the evenings we just wanted to stay close.

Hopkins Sarkiki condo

We really enjoyed our stay. the owners were very nice and responsive, even finding us fresh fish to grill. The beach is perfect and the pool area was very nice. Our only issue was with the no-see-ums (sand fleas), just be prepared!

Mothers and Daughters in Belize

We had an amazing time in Hopkins. Choosing a VRBO over a resort seemed a little risky, but we wanted to experience Belize in a non-touristy kind of way. The villa was simple but adequate, and included the use of pool rafts, bikes, books, and more. We were able to Zipline, hike, and cave tube nearby. It was great!
