About this property
Gorgeous estate overlooking Penobscot Bay
Built in 1912, this charming Maine costal house has been the vacation home for 3 generations of the same family. Together with the two bedroom/one bath carriage housje on the property (an extra charge of $1000/week if you'd like to add it), this retreat is now available to rent for larger gatherings. We can accommodate 10 in the main house with the carriage house accommodating 4 more.
Perched on a hill a few minutes walk from the historic costal village of Bayside, the main house offers 300 feet of private shore frontage. From nearly every room of the house views of the majestic Penobscot Bay stretch out before you.
The main house, an arts and crafts turn of the century home, has been left untouched, only restored and updated by the same family. On the second floor it features 5 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large family media room (with a queen sized sofa bed) and a open landing that doubles as a play area under vaulted beamed ceilings. The master bedroom features a fireplace and a generous bathroom - with a shower and separate tub overlooking the sea. Each bedroom also comes with high quality linens and 2 renovated shared bathrooms. The media room comes equipped with apple tv, Direct TV, Netflix, and VHS/DVD with an array of movies to keep everyone entertained.
On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen with a large double oven/stove, communal table, dishwasher and an incredible modified ice box that is original to the house and functions now as a very large fridge . There are plates and cutlery along with every form of cooking utensil. Adjoining the kitchen is a separate bar/wash area with microwave. The adjacent dinning room is astounding with a large arts and crafts table overlooking the porch and sea with a working fireplace. The living room comes off this, with comfortable leather club chairs and sofas around another large fireplace. There is also a home office with printer and desk. There is high speed internet throughout the house. Each of all these rooms leads to a wrap around covered porch that beautifully frames the ocean view complete with white wicker furniture along with a teak picnic table perfect for outdoor dinning. In the basement there is a laundry room with washer and dryer. There is also an abundant supply of fireplace logs in the basement, as well as a second, modern fridge.
Surrounding the house are lush gardens and lawns complete with a fire pit. The front lawn comes with a full turning circle and multiple parking spaces. The front gate is made by a local artist in the Adirondack camp style. We've left a ping pong table on the porch for your enjoyment.
To the left of the house is a separate guest carriage house with a self contained apartment above it. There are 2 double bedrooms, living room, a self contained kitchen and bathroom complete with a shower/bathtub. This is perfect for a small family or friends wishing to join in on a holiday but also allowing them to have their own privacy. There is an additional fee of $800 per week of the use of the 2-bedroom Carriage House.
There is a private walkway and stairs down to the beach from the bottom of the garden where you can enjoy the lovely Penobscot Bay. Sit on the large deck and spot porpoise and seals, beach comb, kayak, or swim, as the bay is normally wonderfully calm.

This is a very magical house! Perfectly suited our family for a long weekend. Large covered veranda overlooking the bay with sunrise and sunset views. Lovely beach access to search for seaglass. Cozy bedrooms to accommodate everyone. Very well stocked kitchen. We never wanted to leave!
What an amazing time for our staff and friends. From sitting on that amazing porch at 5:30 am to watch the sun rise to trying to remember which shelf in that amazing icebox we put the creamer or hanging out by the fire in the living room - we all felt like royalty (only without the servants - next time!!).
We stayed with our extended family of 9 people and Suzanne’s house was absolutely perfect for us! Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen stocked better than mine at home! The house itself is spectacular. The enormous porch overlooking the bay was one of the most beautiful and relaxing setting I’ve ever experienced. We hope to be back soon.
This is a beautiful property with an awesome view from its giant porch. It has a Large living room, with comfortable chairs and couch. The dining room has seating for at least 10 people. Its an old house, with a small, antique kitchen, and slight plumbing issues. We had 3 couples stay and there was plenty of room.
This is such a beautiful historic home!
The location is great. The views are superb.
It really feels that you are staying in a family HOME and not a generic rental.
We absolutely loved it.
We thoroughly enjoyed this amazing property! We utilized the entire space including the carriage house. The house was beautiful with so many interesting features that made it feel timeless while at the same time having all of the modern amenities. Our family really enjoyed the walk to the rocky beach and swimming in the refreshing waters of the bay. The sunrises were unforgettable. We created a lot of wonderful memories that we will cherish forever at this wonderful property!
Suzanne was a wonderful host, and the property was very unique, historical and beautiful. The porch overlooking the ocean was the place to be when not in front of one of the many fireplaces.
Surprisingly close to restaurants, bars and things to do.
Best porch in Maine. Beautiful view. Water front. Short walk to the center of Bayside, dock and playground. Very family friendly. Overall we were very happy with the experience.
Our stay at this charming Maine vacation home was unforgettable. The house itself is full of character, cozy yet spacious, with thoughtful touches that made us feel instantly at home. The highlight, though, was the stunning waterfront view — waking up to the peaceful sights and sounds of the water each morning was truly magical. We loved relaxing on the porch and watching the sun rise over the bay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and beautiful coastal getaway! Suzanne, our hostess made sure we had everything we needed. I can’t say enough about how helpful she was!
We had a delightful time staying at Bayview Farm!!!
It is a lovely old home full of charm in a quaint village close to picturesque towns. It has the most amazing deck with an ocean view. That is where we spent most of our time playing, relaxing, reading, and eating. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything you need for family meals. The bedrooms are plentiful and easily accommodated my extended family.
It's truly a magical place to stay!
Summer gathering of well-dispersed family made for happy memories on the massive porch overlooking the bay. Quirks are all as advertised and contribute to the charm and ambiance. Proximity to Belfast and Camden a big PLUS!!
Great kayaking, too, from the perfect stone beach. Steep stairs are not for sissies.
Great location for family vacation. Fantastic back porch used for morning coffee and evening drinks, ping pong tourneys and relaxing dinners. Quirky older home with lots of nooks to discover. Large enough that eight adults could easily find a quiet space to work or read or just get away from everyone else. Easy access to beach (steep steps but with hand rails all the way).
We had a group of 5 couples from college get together and we had the BEST time! The house was charming and the views from the back porch and dock were two of the most beautiful scenes imaginable. A lot to do in surrounding towns but access from highway is easy. Suzanne offered a lot of ideas and help of things to do in the area as well. Can’t recommend this place enough for a group!
Excellent location, near Belfast but in quiet Bayside. Fantastic, spacious old summer home with authentic antique vibe. The porch had a gorgeous view and was an amazing place to hang out. Stairs down to the pebble beach were steep and long, but worth the effort. There were minor issues with plumbing, but that’s to be expected with a vintage house, and hosts were quick to respond and correct. Our group of 8 had an enjoyable time making memories at this place!
We spent virtually all of our time on the wonderful porch overlooking the bay. It was mesmerizing and we loved every minute of it. A pair of eagles flew past regularly at eye level, which was really special.
Suzanne was exceptionally helpful when we had questions and was a fantastic host. We had a magical time in Bayside.
Setting was lovely, we all spent much of our time on the porch. Some of the bedding was of a height that made getting into it precarious, and some were squeaky. Getting enough hot water for the number of guests was iffy, and the refrigerators for the kitchen were stylish but clumsy. That said, the owners were easy to reach, communicative, and very responsive, the house overall was a standout from its era, clean, and well-equipped if quirky.
We had a family week here (14 people). We also rented the carriage house. The property has lots of potential. The view, the porch, the size and space, the waterfront, the location, and the town of Northport were amazing. The plumbing is very outdated. The shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold. For the amount of money we paid, we expect to be able to take a comfortable shower. The kitchen stove was a bit frightening. We would stay here again only if the owner could insure us that these things were fixed.
The house was at a great location, near Belfast and not too far from Camden/Rockland. Good for kids. The house was very large and old-style classic. The porch was huge and great, old school. The property was very nice, access to rocky shore was good, but with a lot of steps. The plumbing was old but clean and the lighting was also old. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed to cook and more. The host was very good and responsive, we had no problems and had a nice stay
We had a wonderful stay at this classic old Maine house. Great location - away from the crowds on the water. Spectacular porch with view of boats and the bay. Rooms were large and comfortable. We and our adult children were able to explore the area and look forward to coming back to our lovely old house. We spent a night before Hurricane Lee with wind howling, but the house was stable and quiet. Suzanne the host was ver accommodating and concerned fir our welfare and made sure we were happy and safe. We would love to go back any time and highly recommend this rental.
Each summer our extended family gathers in a new spot for a week together. Last year it was Vancouver Island, and this year we chose the Maine coast. Three generations enjoy time relaxing and outdoors, and this year the Maine house was perfect for us. Beautiful porch overlooking the Bay; nice beach for the kids to play in and for all of us to kayak. Plus, an extremely well-equipped kitchen for my daughter who loves to cook for a crowd. I could have spent all summer exploring the very cool house, comfortably furnished and with unique local furniture. A treasure!

Why they chose this property
For three generations our family has been summering in Bayside. My cousin lives up the road and my sister one street over. It really is a magical place where families can all come together.
What makes this property unique
You will feel as if you have traveled back in time. Bayside has no stoplights or stop signs. No commercial development. You can let your kids run in the main village park without worry - and on hot summer days, jump off the quaint, blue-painted pier into the refreshing Atlantic Ocean. Take a walk down Shore Road, with its tree canopy so thick in places that it blocks out the sun, and feel the stresses of everyday life melt away.
