We loved our time at this amazing Cottage! The walk to town was beautiful with nice sidewalks. We headed to Felt Mansion to beaches of Lake Michigan and it only took 10 minutes via car. Will definitely stay again!
The Birdie cottage is beautiful, with lots of amenities and special touches. We loved the cozy loft, and we enjoyed time on the front porch and back patio. We walked into town several times a day, and we liked our easy access to the bike trail. We will definitely be back!
Birdie Cottage is tucked away behind beautiful trees and bushes. The cottage is charming and decorated beautifully. We enjoyed the convenience to downtown Saugatuck.
One of kind quaint cottage walkable to downtown shopping. The home had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed every inch from having breakfast on the front porch to cheese & wine on the back deck at night!
We had a great stay at the Smitten Mitten cottage. The house was beautifully remodeled with classic original fixtures blended in that worked so well. The fenced in back yard was perfect for our two pups. It was a 5-10min walk into the most charming town passing by gorgeous homes along the way. Oval beach was a quick drive, and just as beautiful as everyone says. We would definitely stay again if we take another trip to Saugatuck, MI!
This property is nicely tucked away off a street within easy walking distance to anything downtown Saugatuck. The cottage is unique with updated appliances making for a nice and cozy experience. We loved our stay! Saugatuck is a quiet little town and has shops, good coffee and food throughout Saugatuck and Douglas. We will be back soon!
Thank you!
pos+: internet speed, Mill Pond, high ceilings
neg-: pics of unit outdated.Bathroom is horrible and obvious mildew/mold smell. Bedroom upstairs is not fit for adults. You can't stand up and stairs treacherous. Spiderwebs on porch. Yard has not been tended to in years.
Price should be adjusted to reflect condition. Suggest no more than $300/night.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad you had a positive experience with the internet speed and our hosting services. However, we regret that certain aspects of the property did not meet your expectations. The photos of Birdie Cottage were taken just last year, with a few minor decor updates since. We believe they accurately reflect the space, but we appreciate your input and will review them to ensure continued accuracy. The bathroom is unique and adds character to the cottage, though we understand that personal preferences vary. If you had informed us about the smell, we would have promptly addressed it during your stay, as we are always available to assist with any concerns. As for the loft, the low ceilings are both pictured and mentioned in the listing description to help guests understand its layout. We understand the upstairs space may not suit everyone, and we appreciate your feedback. The property was cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival, including having webs removed from the porch. Unfortunately, outdoor elements like spiderwebs can return quickly. The yard is maintained regularly by a landscape company but is left intentionally natural, as the owner prefers a more rustic feel over a perfectly manicured appearance. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.
Birdie cottage is aesthetically beautiful both with the landscaping outside and interior decorating inside. Everything worked perfectly.
Unfortunately, the description and photos of the bedroom loft were not indicative of what we experienced. The stairs are narrow with low ceilings thus making difficult to climb and even worse to decend. The apex of the loft is about 6 ft and awkward to move around. I would not recommend Birdie Cottage to those you who are elderly; with mobility issues, or more than five feet tall. Also, the AC is greatly under powered with the hot weather we are now experiencing.

Thank you for your feedback on Birdie Cottage. We're pleased you found the cottage beautiful and well-maintained. We appreciate your comments about the loft and stairs. Our listing and photo captions do mention the low ceilings and narrow stairs, and we strive to accurately depict these features. The recent hot weather has been challenging for AC units, but typically, our mini split AC unit maintains a comfortable temperature. We value your input and will continue to improve our descriptions to ensure guests have a clear understanding of the space.
